Fighter Coins are the paid currency in Street Fighter 6, while Drive Tickets are earned from challenges or events. The short answer: which currency should you use?
Choose Drive Tickets when the costume’s current shop entry displays them as an accepted payment method and you have enough tickets. Choose Fighter Coins when the item does not accept Drive Tickets, when you want the immediate shop purchase, or when the costume is sold only through that currency. A ticket balance does not guarantee access to every outfit, and the presence of a Fighter Coin price does not prove that a ticket alternative exists. Open the current listing for the character and costume you want, identify the displayed payment icon, and then compare that one-item purchase with any pass that includes the same content.
How Fighter Coins and Drive Tickets work
Fighter Coins are the direct shop currency
Fighter Coins are bought and then spent on game content in the in-game shop. They are the route Capcom uses for direct transactions, including the documented launch-roster Outfit 3 sale. The official announcement for that release listed 300 Fighter Coins per character when the costumes went on sale on December 1, 2023. That is a dated launch price, not a promise that every later character, rerun or future costume will use the same amount.

The available real-money denominations, regional conversion and any current promotion are not established by the official material covered here. Do not convert 300 coins into a cash amount without checking the platform store you use. Platform taxes, regional pricing and bundle sizes can affect what you actually pay.
Drive Tickets are earned vouchers
Capcom’s official web manual describes Drive Tickets as “Vouchers that can be traded for content if held in large quantities. These can be acquired as rewards from challenges or events.” In practical terms, they are the earned-currency route: complete eligible activities, accumulate tickets, and spend them where the item listing permits.
The sources do not establish a guaranteed earning rate, a fixed number of tickets per challenge, or a universal exchange price for costumes. Event schedules and rewards can change. Treat any figure found in a community post as a claim to verify rather than a standing game rule.
Why the distinction matters
Fighter Coins answer the question “Can I buy this now?” Drive Tickets answer “Can I redeem my earned balance for this specific item?” Those are different decisions. A costume may be visible in the same shop but expose only a Fighter Coin button, while another item may show a ticket requirement. The shop’s current payment indicator is authoritative for that item, character, platform and region.
Outfit 2: the play-based route and the shop route
World Tour unlock for the launch roster
Capcom’s launch-roster Outfit 2 announcement described a non-purchase route: meet the required conditions in World Tour and the outfit becomes obtainable. The announcement also said that acquiring it through World Tour requires an online connection. This is useful if you want to spend time in the game instead of buying the costume, but it is not an offline unlock.
The statement applies to the launch-roster announcement. Do not assume that every character added later has identical World Tour conditions. Check the character’s current information and the in-game unlock notice before planning a long World Tour session around a costume.

Fighter Coin purchase for Outfit 2
The same launch-roster announcement gave players a second route: purchase Outfit 2 in the in-game shop with Fighter Coins. That option is separate from the World Tour conditions. If the shop lists the costume for coins, you can buy it without completing the World Tour requirement; if you prefer the play route, keep the online requirement in mind.

Are Drive Tickets accepted for Outfit 2?
The documented launch-roster announcement does not establish a universal Drive Ticket price or say that every Outfit 2 listing accepts tickets. Some current listings may expose an earned-currency option, but you must verify the payment methods shown for the exact character. Do not substitute a general ticket balance for a confirmed Outfit 2 ticket price.
Outfit 3: what the official announcements establish
The documented 300-coin launch price
When the launch-roster Outfit 3 set went on sale on December 1, 2023, Capcom announced a price of 300 Fighter Coins per character. The figure applies to that announcement and those costumes. It should not be reused as a guaranteed price for every current or future Outfit 3 listing.
No World Tour unlock
Capcom France stated that Outfit 3 cannot be unlocked through World Tour, unlike Outfit 2. Therefore, completing World Tour is not a documented way to obtain Outfit 3. If you want a launch-roster Outfit 3 costume, start by checking the current shop entry and any pass that includes it.
What about Drive Tickets?
The available official information does not provide a complete, current catalog showing which Outfit 3 entries accept Drive Tickets. A ticket option may be shown for a particular listing, or it may not. Look for a Drive Ticket icon and an explicit ticket amount on the live item page; never infer eligibility from the fact that another costume accepts tickets.

There is no evidence of a single option that is always the best value. The correct comparison depends on whether you want one outfit or a multi-character package, whether you have enough earned tickets, whether World Tour applies, and whether your platform and region show the same contents.

Pass bundles: when they change the calculation
Character Pass contents
In a June 29, 2026 announcement, Capcom described Character Passes for Years 1 through 4 as including four additional characters, Outfit 1 Colors 3–10 and Drive Tickets. The base game is required separately. The announcement groups several pass years together, but the characters and other contents differ by year, so the year number is part of the product identity.
Ultimate Pass contents
The same announcement states: “Each Ultimate Pass includes all Character Pass content, plus Outfit 2 & 3 costumes and additional Drive Tickets.” This means an Ultimate Pass can cover more than a single costume purchase, but it is not automatically the cheaper choice for someone who wants one outfit for one character. Compare the included roster and ticket bonus with your actual target.
The Year 3 North American Steam example
A Capcom Town Store North American Steam listing for the Year 3 Ultimate Pass specifies Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 for its four additional characters and 5,800 bonus Drive Tickets. That number belongs to that regional, platform-specific listing and can change. Do not treat it as a universal ticket amount for every storefront or Ultimate Pass year.
How to avoid buying the wrong bundle
- Write down the exact character and outfit you want before opening a pass page.
- Check that the character appears in the pass year you are viewing; “Year 3” and another year are different packages.
- Confirm whether the pass grants Outfit 2, Outfit 3, or both for that character.
- Read the ticket bonus and platform label, especially if you play on more than one system.
- Compare the bundle with the cost of the one costume you would otherwise buy, using the current store listing rather than the dated 2023 Outfit 3 figure.
Step-by-step: choose and redeem the right route
Step 1: identify the exact item
Choose the character and outfit number first. “The character’s costume” is not specific enough because Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 have different documented acquisition rules. Note whether you want an individual costume, a color variation or a pass that includes several characters.
Step 2: inspect the live in-game shop entry
- Open Street Fighter 6 and enter the in-game Shop.
- Open the character or costume listing for the exact outfit.
- Read every displayed payment option. Look for a Fighter Coin amount, a Drive Ticket amount, or a notice that the item is included in a pass.
- Do not proceed if the listing does not clearly show the currency you intend to use; availability can differ by item, region and platform.
Step 3: check earned-currency eligibility
If Drive Tickets are displayed, compare the required amount with your balance and confirm that the item is not merely showing a general ticket promotion. Tickets are usable only when the item provides that redemption route. If no ticket amount appears, assume only the listed alternatives are available until the game says otherwise.
Step 4: check the World Tour route for Outfit 2
For a launch-roster Outfit 2, read the World Tour requirement shown by the game and make sure you can maintain an online connection. The documented World Tour route is for Outfit 2, not Outfit 3. Later characters may have different rules, so verify the individual character.

Step 5: compare a pass before buying coins
Open the relevant Character Pass or Ultimate Pass page and compare its character list, outfit coverage and Drive Ticket bonus with the single-item listing. A pass is relevant only if it contains the character and content you want. The existence of extra tickets does not make a pass useful if its included characters do not match your plans.

Before finalizing a purchase, check the storefront label and account platform. The 5,800-ticket Year 3 example is specifically North American Steam, and it should not be used to predict another region’s package. Regional listings, taxes, promotions and availability may differ.

Applying launch-roster Outfit 2 rules to every character
Symptom: You expect the same World Tour condition for a later character. Fix: The launch announcement covers the launch roster; read the current character’s own unlock notice.
Reading a pass listing as a universal offer
Symptom: A pass page from another region or platform appears to include a different ticket amount or character set. Fix: Use the listing for your own storefront. The North American Steam Year 3 example is not a universal package specification.
Buying before checking duplicate content

You want Outfit 2 and already enjoy World Tour
For a launch-roster character, meeting the World Tour conditions can avoid a Fighter Coin purchase, provided you can play with the required online connection. If the time investment is not worthwhile, the shop’s Fighter Coin route remains available as described in the launch announcement.
You want several new characters plus both outfit sets
Start with the Ultimate Pass for the relevant year, then verify its character list, Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 coverage, and ticket bonus in your region and platform. A pass is potentially more appropriate than buying individual costumes when its included roster matches your plans; it is not automatically better for a single-character purchase.
