First, play the original video file locally. If its audio and video are already out of sync, correct or re-encode the file before uploading it again. If the original is in sync, compare the StreamYard output and YouTube playback to find where the mismatch first appears; do not assume YouTube or StreamYard caused it without checking.
Find where the audio goes out of sync
Compare the same point in the video at each stage: the original file on your device, the prerecorded output from StreamYard, and the video as played on YouTube. Note whether the audio is consistently early or late, or whether the gap grows as playback continues. These comparisons help narrow down where the problem appears; they do not, by themselves, prove which service or device is responsible.

- Out of sync in the original file: the problem is present before streaming. Check the edit or export, then prepare a corrected file.
- Original is in sync, but the StreamYard output is not: investigate the file’s format and encoding, then re-encode and test it.
- Original and StreamYard output appear in sync, but YouTube playback does not: check the audio and video track durations, then compare playback on another device or player before assigning a cause.
- The gap grows over time: record how it changes from the beginning to the end. This is useful diagnostic information, not proof of a particular cause.
Check that the audio and video tracks have matching durations
YouTube’s guidance is to make sure the audio and video track durations match. If one track is shorter or longer, edit the tracks in video-editing software before uploading the content to YouTube. Check the full tracks, not just a short section that happens to play in sync.
Re-encode the file using StreamYard’s recommended settings
StreamYard’s prerecorded-video optimization guidance recommends using HandBrake to prepare a file for its prerecorded workflow. The guide recommends these settings; they are not a guarantee that every audio-sync problem will be fixed.

| Setting | Recommended value |
|---|---|
| Container | MP4 |
| Video codec | H.264 (x264) |
| Frame rate | Constant 30 fps |
| Audio codec | AAC |
| A/V start | Enable “Align A/V Start” |
| Web optimization | Enable “Web Optimized” or faststart |
| Total bitrate | Below 10,000 kbps |
- Keep an untouched copy of the original file so you can compare it with the re-encoded version.
- Open the file in HandBrake and set the video, audio, frame-rate, A/V start, web-optimization, and bitrate options to the values above.
- Export the new file and play it locally. Check both the beginning and a later point to see whether the sync is steady throughout.
- Upload the corrected file to StreamYard and test a short segment before scheduling or running the full video.
StreamYard’s current format information describes MP4/MOV uploads with H.264 video and AAC audio, and says upload limits depend on the plan. Check StreamYard’s current help information for applicable upload limits and supported formats, since these can change.
Use browser and audio-device checks only when they fit the symptoms
StreamYard also recommends trying Chrome or Firefox, disabling browser extensions that could affect audio, and checking the selected audio device and its settings. Its general audio guidance says the service is optimized for a 48,000 Hz (48 kHz) sample rate. These checks are more relevant when the issue involves browser or device audio than when a prerecorded file itself is out of sync.

Check frame-rate guidance without changing settings blindly
YouTube lists 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 FPS among its preferred frame rates for uploads. StreamYard’s cited prerecorded-video encoding guidance specifically recommends constant 30 fps. For this workflow, use StreamYard’s recommended constant-30-fps setting as the initial re-encoding test rather than treating YouTube’s broader list as a promise that any export will resolve sync trouble.

Troubleshoot the result before scheduling another full stream
- The new file is still out of sync locally: the problem remains in the file or its edit/export. Correct the tracks in editing software, then export and check again.
- The new file plays in sync locally, but the StreamYard output does not: confirm that you uploaded the corrected export, then test a short segment with the recommended encoding settings.
- The StreamYard output seems fine, but YouTube playback does not: compare playback on another device or player and check whether the audio and video track durations match.
- The problem occurs only in one browser or device: try another playback environment and check browser extensions, audio-device selection, and device settings.
- The offset changes between the beginning and end: record the approximate offset at both points; a growing difference is useful to report when asking for help.
If the issue persists, collect the original file’s codec, frame rate, and audio details; whether it is out of sync locally; the approximate offset at the beginning and end; the YouTube playback device and browser; and whether another player shows the same symptom. These are useful diagnostic details, not a published official escalation checklist for this specific case.
