There is no reliable single monthly electricity cost for running Streamlabs Desktop 24/7 in India. Your additional energy charge depends on the average power draw of your complete setup while streaming, the number of hours it runs, and the marginal tariff for your utility and current household usage. Measure the setup and use your own bill or utility tariff to estimate the cost.
Calculate the monthly energy use and cost
Use the setup’s average wall-side power draw—not the power supply’s rated capacity—in this calculation:

- Energy (kWh) = average draw (W) × streaming hours ÷ 1,000
- Estimated additional energy charge (₹) = energy (kWh) × applicable marginal tariff (₹/kWh)
For a 30-day month running continuously, there are 720 hours, so monthly energy use = average watts × 0.72 kWh. As an arithmetic example, a system averaging 100 W for 720 hours uses 72 kWh. That is an illustration, not a claim that a typical streaming PC draws 100 W.

The result estimates the additional energy component of your bill, not its guaranteed final increase. Bills may also include fixed charges, duties or taxes, subsidies, fuel or other adjustments, and slab effects.

Measure the setup while it streams
For a useful estimate, measure the complete equipment you intend to leave running while it performs the actual 24/7 stream. A suitably rated plug-in electricity usage monitor or kWh energy meter can measure at the outlet; existing trustworthy smart-meter or whole-home readings may also help. Check that any meter is appropriate for your outlet and load.
- Include the equipment you want counted. This may mean the PC, a monitor if it will stay on, and streaming or capture peripherals. Be consistent about what is included.
- Run the real stream scene and settings. Let the setup operate as it would during the continuous stream, rather than relying on an idle reading.
- Record average watts over a representative period. Use the meter’s average reading if available, or divide measured energy in kWh by elapsed hours and multiply by 1,000.
- Apply the formula to your actual billing period. If it is not exactly 30 days, use the number of streaming hours in that period.
Streamlabs does not publish a universal wattage for this use case. Its guidance says workload depends on the content, other running programs, hardware, encoder, and output settings. Its encoder guidance distinguishes CPU-based x264 software encoding from hardware encoding such as NVENC, while its settings guidance explains that output choices affect system workload. Gaming, animated overlays, browser sources, high resolution or frame rate, background tasks, and a display left on can all change the measured total. Measure the intended workload instead of assigning a generic “Streamlabs watts” figure. In general, you need to set the overload power to 1800W before using. Just press the "function" button for more than 3 seconds to enter the setting
- Data Memory Function: The wattage meter will record your power consumption data when you remove it from socket, or remove appliances from the electricity monitor. You can directly see the last data when you use it next time. This function can also automatically save the data when there is a sudden power failure
Use your own India electricity tariff
Do not apply one rupees-per-unit figure to every Indian household. Tariffs differ by jurisdiction, utility, connection category, and consumption. The Ministry of Power’s Annual Report 2025–26 describes tariff orders for named utilities and jurisdictions. The ministry’s estimated state/utility tariff annex for FY 2019–20 is historical, not a current rate to use for a household estimate.

Why two Streamlabs setups can have different costs
CPU or GPU model names alone do not establish the monthly bill. A meaningful comparison measures average wall-side watts under the same stream scene and settings, runs each setup for the same hours, applies the same marginal tariff, and counts the same peripherals. Changing encoder, output resolution or frame rate, game workload, overlays, background software, or monitor use can change the result.
