The company said the purchase was funded with proceeds from MSTR stock sales and USD Cash. Its reported purchase costs are not a live market valuation.

In a Form 8-K filed October 5, 2026, Strategy Inc. reported that it acquired 334 BTC for an aggregate $28.7 million over October 1–4. The company put the average acquisition price at $85,838.8 per bitcoin; the filing says purchase prices include fees and expenses. Strategy’s SEC filing

After that purchase, Strategy reported 848,000 BTC held as of October 4 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Its cumulative aggregate purchase price was $63.97 billion, or an average $75,440.7 per bitcoin. Those figures describe the company’s reported acquisition cost, not what the holdings were worth in the market at that time or are worth now.

Strategy said $15.7 million came from net proceeds of MSTR Class A stock sales and $13.0 million came from USD Cash. The two reported sources total $28.7 million.

The filing distinguishes USD Cash from the company’s USD Reserve. Strategy describes the reserve as intended to support preferred-stock dividends and debt interest, while USD Cash is designated for broader bitcoin-treasury purposes, which may include bitcoin purchases and capital management. How the holdings compare with September 30
Strategy reported 847,666 BTC as of September 30, with an aggregate purchase price of $63.95 billion and an average purchase price of $75,436.6 per bitcoin. Against that reported snapshot, the October 1–4 purchase added 334 BTC and raised cumulative holdings to 848,000. The company’s cumulative average cost moved from $75,436.6 to $75,440.7 per bitcoin. The separate Q3 accounting estimate
The same filing included management’s estimate of a $20.91 billion gain on digital assets and $1.88 billion in associated deferred tax expense for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Strategy said the fair value of its bitcoin holdings exceeded their cost basis at quarter-end, prompting a reversal of a previously recorded deferred tax asset and release of its valuation allowance.
