Stonly alternatives are not all direct substitutes. Stonly combines customer-service knowledge tools with interactive, step-by-step guides, so the right competitor depends on whether you need branching self-service, a searchable knowledge base, a help desk, in-app product guidance, or AI answers over existing documentation. Product Hunt, G2, and Gartner Peer Insights surface candidates across those categories, but their listings are discovery aids—not a definitive ranking.
What Stonly does—and what an alternative needs to replace
Product Hunt describes Stonly as a customer-service knowledge platform. Its listed capabilities include step-by-step guides, decision trees, AI answers, automations, walkthroughs, checklists, and knowledge bases for both agents and customers. Stonly’s help center groups its documented product areas into interactive guides and content, knowledge bases, website widgets and triggers, AI and automation, integrations and API, insights, and team settings. See Stonly on Product Hunt and the Stonly Help Center.

That breadth makes “competitor” an ambiguous term. A help-desk suite may replace support workflows but not provide the same style of branching guidance. A digital-adoption platform may be a better fit for in-app onboarding but not replace a customer-facing knowledge base. Start by identifying the job Stonly performs for your team, then compare tools built around that job.

Stonly alternatives by primary use case
Customer support and knowledge-base suites
If your priority is handling customer conversations, tickets, and support content together, investigate support-suite candidates rather than treating every guide builder as a full replacement. Product Hunt lists Zendesk, Crisp, Gleap, Customerly, and Help.center among alternatives or adjacent tools; G2 also surfaces Zendesk for Customer Service, Zoho Desk, and Salesforce Service Cloud. The directories indicate relevant categories, not equivalent feature sets. Check whether each product covers the channels, ticketing workflows, customer-facing help content, and agent needs you actually use in Stonly.
#1 Best Overall
For a more focused knowledge-base need, G2 also lists Document360, Guru, and Helpjuice. These are worth evaluating when maintaining and finding documentation matters more than building interactive decision paths. Confirm whether the product supports the content structure and delivery surfaces your team requires.
Digital adoption and in-app guidance
If the main goal is helping users complete tasks inside a software product, compare digital-adoption platforms and onboarding tools. G2 lists UserGuiding and WalkMe; Gartner Peer Insights lists WalkMe, Whatfix, Pendo, Oracle Guided Learning, Userlane, and Nexthink Adopt as alternatives Stonly users consider. Product Hunt’s discovery page distinguishes interactive tours and guides, including Floik and Command AI, from broader support tools. These names indicate candidates for investigation, not verified one-for-one replacements.
Rank #2
Evaluate the guidance format you need: contextual prompts, tours, walkthroughs, checklists, or branching decision trees. Also verify that the platform can be deployed in your product and that its integrations, implementation requirements, and administration model fit your environment.

If you mainly want answers generated or retrieved from existing documentation, look at tools centered on connected knowledge and AI support. Product Hunt includes eesel AI, Brainfish, DevRev, and DocsBot among alternatives; its listing also distinguishes connected knowledge search from interactive guides and AI help-desk or messaging products. Stonly itself documents AI and automation capabilities, and its vendor-authored comparison describes AI Answers as using defined knowledge sources. That description explains Stonly’s positioning; it is not independent evidence of comparative answer quality.
Rank #3
Ask vendors where answers draw from, how source content is kept current, and what controls administrators have over the knowledge sources. The available comparison listings do not establish a uniform, independently verified feature comparison across these products.
How to compare candidates fairly
Use the same requirements for each shortlist candidate. Gartner Peer Insights identifies evaluation and contracting, integration and deployment, service and support, and product capabilities as comparison dimensions. Apply those dimensions alongside the specific work you expect the software to do.
- Guidance format: Determine whether you need static articles, branching decision trees, interactive walkthroughs, or contextual in-app prompts.
- Knowledge workflow: Identify where content will live, who will maintain it, and whether answers must draw from a defined knowledge base.
- Support scope: Decide whether guidance is enough or whether you also need ticketing, messaging, and agent workflows.
- Integration and deployment: Verify each required integration and implementation detail with current vendor documentation; directory listings do not establish that a particular integration is available for your plan or deployment.
- Service and product capability: Test the functions your team depends on and ask how support is delivered for your expected deployment.
- Total cost and administration: Check current pricing, plan limits, implementation costs, governance, and ongoing administrative effort directly with each vendor. The comparison sources do not establish a reliable current cost comparison.
What the competitor lists can—and cannot—tell you
Product Hunt, G2, and Gartner Peer Insights provide useful starting points for finding products in neighboring categories. Their lists are not controlled product tests, and their ratings, review counts, and excerpts should not be treated as proof that one tool performs better for your needs. Directory figures can change; no current comparative performance ranking is established here.

Quick Recap
A practical shortlist process
- Write down the primary job. Choose the most important outcome: interactive self-service, a searchable knowledge base, customer-support workflows, in-app onboarding, or AI answers over existing documentation.
- Choose candidates from that category. Use the lists above to identify a few plausible tools, while keeping adjacent categories separate until you confirm they meet the same requirements.
- Build a scenario-based evaluation. Ask each vendor to demonstrate a real workflow your team needs, such as guiding a customer through a decision or helping an employee complete an in-app task.
- Verify operational fit. Check integrations, deployment, security and governance requirements, support arrangements, plan limits, and current total cost directly with the vendor.
- Compare evidence, not directory rank. Use your demonstrated requirements and implementation constraints to decide whether a candidate replaces Stonly, complements it, or serves a different job.
