The five stocks drew attention for different reasons: an HDFC Bank leadership appointment, a peer-driven move in Infosys’s US-listed ADR, a YES Bank lending update, Hindustan Zinc production figures and an RVNL contract cancellation.
Market backdrop on October 5
The Economic Times reported that the Nifty 50 closed at 22,421.95, down 198.50 points (0.88%), and the BSE Sensex closed at 71,909.70, down 570.59 points (0.79%). The report linked the decline to rising global bond yields and elevated crude prices. These are October 5 closing figures, not October 7 live prices. The Economic Times market report also quoted HST Wealth founder and CEO Hariselvan Radhakrishnan: “On the technical front, the Nifty slipped below its weekly 200-day simple moving average zone of 22,600–22,580 and moved closer to the projected support at 22,400.” The report described 22,600–22,800 as immediate resistance and 22,200–22,000 as a possible lower area if 22,400 support failed. These levels are the analyst’s technical view, not a guaranteed outcome or official forecast.

Infosys’s American depositary receipt (ADR) rose nearly 8% in pre-market trading on October 1, according to The Economic Times, after Accenture reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter results and a stronger FY27 revenue outlook. This was a market reaction to a peer’s results, not Infosys-issued guidance or a forecast for Infosys shares. Infosys separately listed an October 1 collaboration with Columbia University and a September 30 extension of its ABN AMRO collaboration in its official newsroom; those announcements are distinct from the reported ADR catalyst.

YES Bank: loans and advances increased year over year
For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, YES Bank reported loans and advances of ₹3.1 lakh crore, compared with ₹2.5 lakh crore a year earlier—an increase of nearly 24% year over year, as reported by The Economic Times. This is a lending or balance-sheet update; it does not establish profitability, asset quality or the bank’s complete quarterly performance. A company-news listing said the board was scheduled to consider unaudited results for the quarter and half-year ended September 30 on October 17, 2026. Check the original exchange filing before relying on that schedule in a high-stakes context.
Hindustan Zinc: separate mined and saleable metal figures
The Economic Times reported September-quarter mined metal production of 271 kilotonnes, up 5% year over year, and saleable metal production of 264 kilotonnes, up 7%. These are different production measures and should not be treated as interchangeable. The figures are attributed here to The Economic Times; the secondary production notice listing reviewed does not independently establish those exact numbers from the primary release.

| Company | Event type | Date or period reported | What the reported information establishes | What remains unclear |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HDFC Bank | Leadership appointment | RBI approval reported October 5; related bank notices listed September 30 and October 1 | Anup Bagchi’s appointment as MD and CEO for three years was reported | The disclosure index corroborates leadership filings but does not itself provide every appointment detail |
| Infosys | Peer-driven ADR market reaction | October 1 pre-market | ADR rose nearly 8% after Accenture results and outlook | This does not establish Infosys guidance or a lasting share-price direction |
| YES Bank | Operating/balance-sheet update | Quarter ended September 30, 2026 | Loans and advances were ₹3.1 lakh crore versus ₹2.5 lakh crore a year earlier | Profitability, asset quality and complete quarterly results are not established by this figure |
| Hindustan Zinc | Production update | September quarter | Mined metal and saleable metal output were reported separately, with year-over-year growth | The exact figures are attributed to The Economic Times, not independently verified here from the primary release |
| RVNL | Railway contract cancellation | Reported October 5 | East Coast Railway cancelled the letter of acceptance for the surveillance-system work | Cancellation reason and contract value were not reported |
These are not equivalent signals: they range from a regulatory approval and operating data to an external peer’s results and a cancelled contract. They do not, on their own, support a shared price prediction. The figures and event descriptions above are from The Economic Times’ October 5 report; dates and details are stated at the level established by the cited reporting and disclosures.
