How Boss Challenge works
Shift Up director Kim Hyung Tae announced the mode on PlayStation.Blog on May 23, 2024, ahead of its May 24 release in patch 1.003. Tae described it this way: “The Boss Challenge pits you against the 19 bosses from the base game.” The mode draws on the main game’s bosses, and you need battle data for a boss you have already defeated before you can challenge that boss in the mode. Shift Up’s Boss Challenge announcement gives the official details.
Choose your own gear or a preset
You can enter with your own equipment or select a preset build. The presets include minimum and maximum setups, letting you choose a different starting point for a rematch without treating each setup as a separate game or product.

Review fight performance
After a fight, the mode analyzes your performance and displays measures including battle time, perfect parries, perfect dodges, and consumable use. These figures make it possible to review how a fight went, not just whether you won.
Difficulty and the Neurolink Suit reward
Defeating every boss on Normal difficulty or higher earns Eve’s Neurolink Suit. Hard-difficulty boss fights become available after you have seen the ending. The suit reward is tied to the full-boss clear requirement; the announcement does not describe it as a reward for defeating only one boss.

Where you can play Stellar Blade
Boss Challenge is a mode within Stellar Blade, not a separately identified game. The PlayStation Store lists the game as a single-player action/adventure title and includes Boss Challenge Mode in its description: Stellar Blade on PlayStation Store. PlayStation also lists a PC version and optional DualSense wireless controller support with haptic feedback on its Stellar Blade for PC page.

The IGN trailer description says the game is available on PS5 and PC and gives November 5, 2026, as a Nintendo Switch 2 launch date. That Switch 2 date is a claim in the IGN listing; the official PlayStation sources cited here do not confirm it. Check an official announcement for confirmation before relying on that platform or date.
