Choose the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 if SteelSeries GG, Rapid Tap, Protection Mode, QuickSet presets, or its 0.1–4.0 mm actuation range fit your games and workflow better. Both are wired 60% Hall-effect keyboards; neither can be declared objectively faster from the available evidence because there is no independently verified, controlled head-to-head test of these exact models.
What this comparison actually covers
The name “Wooting 60HE” is ambiguous. Wooting’s currently documented product page is for the Wooting 60HE+, while Wooting’s product navigation also lists a separate 60HE v2. This comparison uses the 60HE+ specifications and features. Do not transfer a specification, switch, case, software feature, or price from the 60HE or 60HE v2 to the 60HE+ without checking the exact listing.

The other keyboard is the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Gen 3, the 60% wired version of SteelSeries’ Apex Pro Gen 3 line. Both use Hall-effect sensing, so actuation can be adjusted in software instead of being fixed by a traditional mechanical contact point.

The table separates documented specifications from judgments. A feature list shows what each keyboard can configure; it does not prove that one produces lower latency or better aim in every game.
#1 Best Overall
- Fast Trigger Gaming Keyboard: AULA WIN68 HE magnetic gaming keyboard offers an industry-leading 8,000Hz polling rate and 8x faster response time than traditional mechanical keyboard. Combined with ultra-low latency (0.3ms), it ensures your commands take effect instantly, giving you an edge in the game. The fast trigger keyboard is perfect for gamers and coders, greatly enhancing the gaming experience and work efficiency.
- Hall Effect Keyboard with Magnetic Switch: Equipped with advanced hall effect magnetic switches, the WIN68 HE black gaming keyboard offers adjustable actuation point(0.02mm-3.44mm), and each key can be personalized to the smallest unit of 0.1 mm, providing an ultra-precise keying experience. In addition, press/reset sensitivity can be individually set via software to match the keystroke habits of different people in different types of games
- Customizable Web Driver: The mechanical gaming keyboard is equipped with a professional web driver that allows users to customize RT/SOCD/DKS/MT/TGL functions, key mapping, macro editing, RGB lighting and other settings on windows systems without downloading(This driver does not support MAC, only compatible with Windows system). It provides one-stop management of the keyboard, allowing users to truly experience customization and personalization. Web driver connection: bit.ly/m/AULA
- 16.8 Million RGB Backlit keyboard: The light up keyboard features 16.8 million colors of RGB lighting effects with south-facing LEDs for a better visual experience. 14 preset lighting effects add a great ambience to your games. Lighting effects and brightness can be easily adjusted via driver or FN and key combinations. The backlight can be turned off if not needed
- 60% Compact Wired Keyboard: Designed for professional gamers, the 60% gaming keyboard saves up to 40% of desktop space while retaining the arrow keys and basic function keys. FN and key combinations unlock all keyboard commands. The 68-key wired gaming keyboard with detachable USB cable provides gamers with a more stable connection and greatly enhances the gaming experience. The small size and lightweight design make it easier to carry and perfect for business trip
How the 60% layout changes daily use
A 60% keyboard removes the dedicated function row, arrow cluster, and navigation block found on larger boards. Both products therefore rely on a function layer or remapped combinations for arrows, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, Insert, Delete, and F-keys. The compact footprint leaves more room for a mouse, but it also adds a learning curve if you frequently edit documents, use spreadsheets, or navigate code with dedicated keys.
Who adapts easily
- Players who already use layers or a separate macro pad generally adjust quickly.
- People who keep their left hand on movement keys and rarely use navigation keys may value the extra desk space more than the missing hardware keys.
- Travel or small-desk users benefit from the short width and a single USB cable.
Who should think twice
- Writers, developers, and spreadsheet users who press arrows, function keys, or navigation keys constantly may find layer access slower than a 75% or tenkeyless layout.
- If you switch between several computers, confirm that your preferred remaps and profiles behave as expected on each system before discarding a full-size board.
The choice between these two boards does not solve the basic 60% compromise. Decide first whether you are comfortable with layers; then compare their Hall-effect features and software.
Hall-effect features: what each board can configure
Apex Pro Mini Gen 3
SteelSeries documents OmniPoint 3.0 switches with an adjustable actuation range from 0.1 mm to 4.0 mm. Its March 25, 2025 launch announcement describes 40 adjustable actuation levels across that range. A shallow setting can register a key with less travel, while a deeper setting requires more deliberate movement; the useful setting depends on the key and your preference rather than a universal “best” value.
Rapid Trigger changes when a key releases and reactivates based on movement rather than waiting for a conventional reset point. Rapid Tap is SteelSeries’ paired-key behavior: the company says it “prioritizes the last pressed key in a pair without needing to release the previous key, enabling faster input and improved aim.” That description is a manufacturer explanation, not an independently measured advantage.
Protection Mode is intended to reduce accidental inputs by limiting how simultaneous or nearby keys behave. 2-in-1 Action Keys let one physical key perform different actions at different travel points. SteelSeries also promotes game presets through GG QuickSet, so you can apply a saved configuration instead of adjusting every setting manually.
Wooting 60HE+
Wooting’s 60HE+ page lists adjustable actuation and Rapid Trigger alongside several input behaviors. Snappy Tappy is Wooting’s configurable simultaneous-opposite-cardinal-direction (SOCD) behavior. Rappy Snappy is another rapid directional-input mode. Because SOCD rules can affect movement behavior and game policy, check the rules for the specific title or tournament before enabling them.

- High-Performance Hall Effect Magnetic Switch Keyboard: The AULA Win60 HE 60% keyboard features advanced, self-developed magnetic switches and a lightweight, non-memory-intensive driver, delivering polling rates of up to 8000Hz for ultra-fast response times. As a hall effect keyboard, it leverages cutting-edge magnetic technology to ensure precise and consistent actuation without physical contact, eliminating wear and tear associated with traditional mechanical switches. This level of performance gives you a competitive edge in gaming with unmatched precision and reliability
- Optimized for FPS Games: Designed for FPS titles like Valorant and CS2, the Win60 HE’s magnetic switches enable faster peeking and quick-stop shooting, enhancing accuracy and positioning. Experience a clear advantage in high-stakes moments with this gaming keyboard
- Rapid Trigger Gaming Keyboard: Featuring an ultra-low RT step distance of just 0.02mm, the Win60 HE ensures lightning-fast response times, perfect for rapid shooting and complex combos. Stay ahead in intense matches with unmatched speed and precision
- Compact 60% Design: With its space-saving 60% layout small keyboard, the Win60 HE is ideal for gaming, work, or travel. Its compact size saves desk space without sacrificing functionality, making it perfect for gamers and typists alike
- Dynamic RGB Lighting: The Win60 HE features a lower light position design that illuminates PBT keycaps, along with 16.8 million customizable RGB colors. Create stunning lighting effects to match your setup and elevate your gaming atmosphere
Dynamic Keystroke assigns actions at different points in a key’s travel, while Mod Tap allows a key to behave differently when tapped versus held. Wooting also lists analog controller input, which can expose graduated movement rather than a simple on/off key signal in software that supports it. These are configuration options, not guarantees of a competitive advantage.

Wooting states: “Up to four onboard profiles stay saved on the keyboard and load instantly on any device, without having to open Wootility.” That is useful when moving between computers where you cannot install or run the configuration software.
Software and profile workflow
SteelSeries GG and QuickSet
SteelSeries centers configuration in its GG software. After connecting the keyboard, open GG, select the keyboard in the Engine area, and use the actuation, Rapid Trigger, Rapid Tap, Protection Mode, and dual-action controls. QuickSet presets are designed for quickly applying game-oriented configurations. Save a general typing setup separately from a low-actuation gaming setup so a change made for one title does not alter every application.
GG is the better fit if you already use other SteelSeries peripherals and want one application for them. The trade-off is dependence on that ecosystem for the most convenient editing; verify that the settings you need remain available when GG is not running.
Wootility and onboard profiles
Wooting configures the 60HE+ through Wootility, available as an application or browser-based workflow according to Wooting’s product information. Select the keyboard, adjust actuation and Rapid Trigger, configure SOCD and other behaviors, and store the finished layouts in one of the four onboard profiles. Test each profile after saving, particularly if it combines Dynamic Keystroke, Mod Tap, and directional features.
Onboard storage is the practical distinction: once a profile is saved to the keyboard, you can move it to another computer without opening Wootility. That does not remove the need to check game-specific rules or to keep firmware and software current.

- Fast Trigger Mode & Ultimate Precision: This mechanical gaming keyboard features fast trigger mode and industry-leading precision. This advanced feature makes it the perfect choice for gamers and professionals seeking the ultimate in control and efficiency
- Programmable Web Driver: No need to install, the HERO 68HE driver allows users to remap key functions, set macros and hotkeys, adjust lighting modes and DIY lighting effects, and adjust the actuation point according to your typing habits or gaming needs for true customization and personalization. Lighting effects and brightness can be easily adjusted via driver or FN and key combinations. The backlight can be turned off if not needed
- 60% Wired Gaming Keyboard: No matter the outlook, the construction, or the function, this fast trigger keyboard is definitely a professional gaming keyboard. This 68-key 60% layout compact keyboard can save more desktop space while retaining the necessary arrow keys for gaming. USB-C wired mode provides gamers with a more stable connection and greatly enhances the gaming experience.
Typing feel and construction
Windows Central’s May 4, 2025 review describes the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 as having a mostly plastic frame, an aluminum top frame, internal dampening, and pre-lubricated stabilizers. The reviewer considered its typing experience less compelling for the price than some premium typing-focused keyboards. That is an individual review assessment, not a laboratory measurement or a universal judgment about sound and feel.
Wooting’s official 60HE+ specifications list an ABS case and steel plate. The material list tells you how the board is built, but it does not establish which keyboard will sound or feel better to your hands. Switch force, keycap profile, desk surface, and your actuation setting all influence the result.
For gaming
Both boards let you tune when a key activates and use Rapid Trigger-style behavior. Players who want a minimal actuation point may prefer a light setting, while accidental key presses are less likely at a deeper setting. Start conservatively, then change one variable at a time; otherwise you will not know whether a different actuation point or a rapid-input mode caused a change in control.
For typing
A 60% layout and very shallow actuation can make a board feel unfamiliar. Begin with a moderate actuation depth and disable complex dual-action or tap/hold behaviors while learning the keyboard. Re-enable them only for keys where the second action has a clear benefit.
Setup and tuning checklist
Apex Pro Mini Gen 3
- Connect the supplied wired keyboard cable directly to the computer rather than beginning with an unpowered hub.
- Install or open SteelSeries GG and select the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 in the Engine section.
- Set a moderate actuation point for ordinary typing, then create a separate game preset with the values you want to test.
- Enable Rapid Trigger only on keys where changing the reset behavior helps; leave other keys conventional if accidental reactivation is a problem.
- Configure Rapid Tap, Protection Mode, and 2-in-1 Action Keys individually. Test opposing-direction inputs and movement keys in a practice environment before using the profile in a match.
- Save the configuration and verify your layer shortcuts for arrows, navigation, and function keys.
Wooting 60HE+
- Connect the USB-C cable and open Wootility in its application or supported browser workflow.
- Select the 60HE+ and create a baseline profile with ordinary actuation and no advanced tap/hold behavior.
- Adjust Rapid Trigger and actuation one key group at a time. Movement keys, frequently used abilities, and typing keys do not have to share one setting.
- Configure Dynamic Keystroke, Mod Tap, Snappy Tappy, or Rappy Snappy only after confirming what each action does in your game.
- Save distinct profiles for typing, general gaming, and any title-specific layout. Confirm each profile is stored onboard and loads correctly without Wootility.
- Check the game’s rules before using SOCD-related functions, especially in competitive or organized play.
Price, warranty, and availability
SteelSeries announced a US$199.99 launch MSRP for the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 in March 2025. That is a historical US launch price, not a current quote. Retail prices, discounts, regional taxes, shipping, stock, and keyboard layout can change, so check the exact wired Mini Gen 3 listing before buying.
Wooting states that the 60HE+ has a four-year warranty “excluding the LED’s.” The limitation matters: the stated period does not make LED failures part of the same coverage. No matching official warranty duration for the exact SteelSeries regional model was confirmed in the cited material, so read the warranty shown for your country and seller.

Make sure a listing says 60HE+ if that is the model you intend to buy. The 60HE+ Module is an optional builder component, not a substitute for the complete prebuilt keyboard.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat can—and cannot—be concluded about speed
There is no independently verified, controlled latency comparison between the exact Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 and Wooting 60HE+ in the available material. A secondary comparison page makes numerical latency and market claims, but its test method and underlying data were not verified, so those numbers should not be used to declare a winner.
Wooting’s 60HE+ page reproduces ProSettings.net usage figures dated June 22, 2026: 137 of the tracked Valorant players, or 20.6%, are listed as using the 60HE+. The same page’s CS2 percentage refers to the Wooting 80HE, not the 60HE+. Usage figures show adoption among a tracked group; they do not demonstrate that the 60HE+ is objectively faster or that it will improve your results.
Firmware, software versions, USB configuration, actuation settings, operating system, and the game itself can all affect behavior. Treat manufacturer feature descriptions as capabilities and your own consistent testing as the way to decide whether a setting helps.
Which keyboard should you buy?
Choose the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 when
- You want SteelSeries GG and QuickSet presets alongside other SteelSeries devices.
- The documented 0.1–4.0 mm range, Rapid Tap, Protection Mode, or 2-in-1 Action Keys match the way you play.
- You prefer a configuration centered on SteelSeries’ named game features rather than extensive SOCD and analog options.
- You find a current price that makes its historical US$199.99 launch MSRP acceptable for your region and warranty terms.
Choose the Wooting 60HE+ when
- You want analog controller input, Dynamic Keystroke, Mod Tap, and several configurable directional-input behaviors in one 60% board.
- Four onboard profiles are important because you move the keyboard between computers.
- You prefer Wootility’s application or browser workflow and want profiles saved directly to the keyboard.
- A four-year warranty excluding LEDs is valuable to you and the current regional price and shipping are acceptable.
Choose neither until you resolve the layout issue
If you regularly need dedicated arrows, navigation keys, or an F-row, moving from a larger keyboard to either 60% model may create more friction than the Hall-effect features remove. Consider a larger layout first; these two boards are variations on the same compact compromise.

Final buying guidance
For the broadest configuration toolkit, the Wooting 60HE+ is the more natural choice: it combines adjustable actuation and Rapid Trigger with analog input, Dynamic Keystroke, Mod Tap, SOCD-related options, and four onboard profiles. For a SteelSeries-centered setup, or when Rapid Tap, Protection Mode, QuickSet, and the stated 0.1–4.0 mm range matter more than analog and profile flexibility, the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 is the sensible alternative.
