The “up to 50% off” headline applies to one model only: the Apex Pro Mini Gen 2 Wireless, reported at $119.99 instead of $239.99, a saving of $120. The other two Apex Pro offers in the same report are smaller, at roughly 29% and 17% off. All three prices come from a Tom’s Hardware deal article published on 7 October 2026, and that article says how long the discounts will run is unknown, so treat them as a dated report and confirm the live price before you buy.
Which Apex Pro configuration is 50% off
Only the Apex Pro Mini Gen 2 Wireless carries the maximum discount. Its reported price falls from $239.99 to $119.99. The Gen 3 models in the same report are discounted less, and they are wired rather than wireless. Keep the model name, generation, and connection type in front of you when you compare listings, because the headline makes the biggest discount look like a general Apex Pro price cut when it is not.

Whether the discount matters depends less on the percentage than on whether the model fits how you play and work. The sections below cover the three choices that change the answer most.
#1 Best Overall
- TRIPLE THREAT POWERED BY QUICKSET — Apex Pro is the only line of keyboards in the world with Rapid Trigger, Rapid Tap, and Protection Mode (Patent Pending), activated for your game in seconds
- RAPID TRIGGER FOR FASTER ACTIONS — Stop fast, start your next move faster. Resets the moment you release a key.
- RAPID TAP FOR FASTER MOVEMENT — Snaps to your latest key press to strafe and dodge faster.
- PROTECTION MODE STOPS MISTAKES — Patent pending feature reduces accidental keypresses on nearby keys - no more accidental ults
- QUICKSET AUTO-PRESETS — Easy setup in seconds, auto-launch pro-level configs when your game loads.
Mini or TKL
The Mini layout is the more compact of the two and leaves more room for a mouse and mouse pad, which suits small desks or tight mouse space. The TKL (tenkeyless) layout keeps dedicated arrow keys and a function row. If you use those keys regularly, or switch between games and office software that depends on them, the TKL is the better match. It is also the only TKL in the report, so it is the one to compare if you want a full-width-free layout without a numeric keypad.
Wireless or wired
Only the Mini Gen 2 in the top offer is wireless. Both Gen 3 offers in the report are wired. If you need to keep the keyboard off the desk cable, the top offer is the only one in this set that meets that requirement. If you are happy with a cable, the Gen 3 models are the choice that gets you the newer switch design.
Rank #2
- Ip32 water resistant – Prevents accidental damage from liquid spills
- 10-zone RGB illumination – Gorgeous color schemes and reactive effects
- Whisper quiet gaming switches – Nearly silent use for 20 million low friction keypresses
- Premium magnetic wrist rest – Provides full palm support and comfort
- Dedicated multimedia controls – Adjust volume and settings on the fly
Gen 2 or Gen 3
The Gen 2 Mini is not a Gen 3 keyboard, and its listing should not be read as having the same switch technology or software features. The Gen 3 features described below belong to the Apex Pro Gen 3 product line. Check the listing’s generation label before you assume a feature is included.

What the Apex Pro Gen 3 is documented to do
SteelSeries’ official Apex Pro Gen 3 product page describes the following features. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent test results, so they tell you what the keyboard is designed to offer rather than how it performs against other boards.
Rank #3
- The compact tenkeyless design is the most popular form factor used by the pros, allowing you to position the keyboard for comfort and to maximize in-game performance.
- Our whisper quiet gaming switches with anti-ghosting technology for keystroke accuracy are made from durable low friction material for near silent use and guaranteed performance for over 20 million keypresses.
- Designed with IP32 Water & Dust Resistant for extra durability to prevent damage from liquids and dust particles, so you can continue to play no matter what happens to your keyboard.
- PrismSync RGB Illumination allows you to choose from millions of colors and effects from reactive lighting to interactive lightshows that bring RGB to the next level.
- Dedicated Multimedia Controls with a clickable volume roller and media keys allowing you to adjust brightness, rewind, skip or pause all at the touch of a button.
- OmniPoint 3.0 Hall Effect switches. Actuation point is adjustable from 0.1 mm to 4.0 mm.
- Rapid Trigger. Changes when a key activates and deactivates based on how far the key travels.
- Rapid Tap. When two keys in a pair are pressed, the most recently pressed key takes priority.
- Protection Mode. Reduces the sensitivity of selected keys that sit next to a key you press.
- 2-in-1 Action Keys. One key can trigger different actions for a shallow press and a deeper press.
- OLED screen. Used for settings and media controls.
- Per-key RGB lighting and a detachable USB-C cable.
The official page calls the switch “the most technically advanced” and credits it with Rapid Trigger and the full 0.1 mm to 4.0 mm range. Present that as SteelSeries’ own claim. It is not an independent comparison of speed or accuracy.
SteelSeries’ separate official Apex Pro page describes OmniPoint 2.0, which is an earlier switch generation. Do not carry the Gen 3 features above over to every Apex Pro listing, including the Gen 2 Mini in the top offer.
Rank #4
- Hybrid blue mechanical gaming switches – The tactile click of a blue mechanical switch plus a smooth membrane – guaranteed for 20 million keypresses
- OLED smart display – Customize with gifs, game info, discord messages, and more.
- Aircraft-grade aluminum alloy frame – Manufactured for unbreakable durability and sturdiness
- Dynamic per-key RGB illumination – Gorgeous color schemes and reactive effects for every key
- Premium magnetic wrist rest – Provides full palm support and comfort
Check compatibility before you buy
SteelSeries lists Windows 10 and above and macOS 11 and above as supported systems. It also notes that not all software features are available on Mac. If you rely on per-key lighting, actuation tuning, or the software-driven features above, confirm on the official page that those features work on your operating system before you pay.

Checks to run before you buy
- Open the Amazon listing from the deal report and confirm the model name matches the one in the table above.
- Check the generation and connection type in the listing title, not just the product image.
- Compare the current checkout price with the reported price, including any shipping or regional difference.
- Confirm the software features you need are listed for your operating system.
- Expect the discount to end without notice, since the report gives no duration.
Bottom line on the offer
The Apex Pro Mini Gen 2 Wireless at $119.99 is the strongest reported discount, but it is a Gen 2 wireless board, not a Gen 3 model. If you want the Gen 3 switch features, the Mini Gen 3 Wired ($156.74) and TKL Gen 3 Wired ($199.99) are the reported options, with smaller savings. Check the live price first, because the offer was reported on 7 October 2026 and its duration is not stated.
