What the Acclaim offers—and what the review evidence can tell you
The Acclaim Reverse Handle’s defining feature is that the handle can be moved to change the direction from which the caregiver pushes. Owners particularly value this when they want a younger child facing them. Some reviewers also report comfortable rides or useful maneuverability. Other owners describe the stroller as heavy or bulky, difficult to fold, or requiring a learning curve with wheel locks and handling. These are individual reports, not controlled performance tests. ProductReview.com.au’s current listing marks the model discontinued and displays a 3.3 rating from 118 reviews; the page does not provide a publication year for that snapshot.

Check the limits in the manual
The Steelcraft Acclaim Reverse Handle manual sets the maximum child weight at 17 kg. It also limits the basket to 4 kg and, where fitted, the canopy pocket to 1 kg. These are separate limits: do not treat them as extra child capacity. The manual warns against running with the stroller and says, “It is unsafe to use accessories other than those tested and approved by Britax.”

A discontinued stroller’s condition matters as much as its original features. Before buying, ask to inspect the exact unit, identify its model/version from the frame label, and try its everyday operations rather than relying on a listing description.

- Open and fold it, and check that the frame locks engage and release as intended.
- Inspect the frame, wheels, brake, harness, straps, and fasteners for damage, wear, looseness, or missing pieces.
- Fit the harness to the child and verify that the parking brake and tether strap are present and usable.
- Try the handle reversal and confirm that it locks securely in each position.
- If possible, lift and fold it yourself and assess whether its size and handling suit your vehicle, storage space, and usual routes.
These checks align with the ACCC’s pram and stroller consumer guide, which also advises keeping shopping and handbags off the handle. The ACCC says Australia’s mandatory pram and stroller standard covers design, construction, performance, testing, warnings, and labelling, including a parking device and tether strap. A stroller is not a safe sleep environment. Check the exact unit’s product label and Britax Australia’s current safety notices; the notices page reviewed does not identify the Acclaim among the products displayed, but that alone cannot establish the history of every variant or batch.
Capsules, accessories, and replacement parts
Steelcraft’s historical answers say a Steelcraft infant carrier can be used with the Acclaim Reverse Handle. That does not establish that every capsule or carrier fits every Acclaim version. For a capsule match, Steelcraft’s response directs owners to contact support with the stroller frame Cat. No. Accessories and spares likewise need an exact version check: a separate historical answer says parts for an older version were no longer available and parts for a newer version did not fit it. Do not assume a bumper bar, buckle, or other replacement part is compatible just because a seller lists it for an “Acclaim.” See the Steelcraft Acclaim questions and answers and provide the frame identifier when asking about fit.

Who should consider one?
The Acclaim may suit someone who specifically wants the reversible-handle arrangement and has found a sound example that fits their storage and lifting needs. It is a less certain choice if you need predictable access to replacement parts, have no way to verify capsule fit, or cannot inspect the stroller’s safety-critical components. For a comparison with another stroller, compare each exact model’s folded size and lifting weight, reversibility, wheel behavior on your terrain, folding effort, storage limits, approved newborn or capsule options, parts access, and condition. The available sources do not establish directly comparable Acclaim variants, so do not infer that another Steelcraft model shares its specifications or parts.
