Eco Inc. Save the Earth is the 2023 strategy game named in a report about a temporary free-to-paid offer on Steam. The report says developer GameFirst announced on October 5, 2026, that the game would become paid “no sooner than one week after this announcement,” implying a free-claim window lasting at least until October 12. That is an inferred minimum, not a confirmed cutoff: check the live Steam listing for current price, availability in your region and the exact end time before claiming.
Which game is included?
The offer concerns Eco Inc. Save the Earth, a strategy game about environmental issues. Game Rant, in an article reproduced by BovineBear, reported that developer GameFirst announced the planned move from free to paid on October 5, 2026. Read the report.

How long do you have to claim it?
GameFirst’s statement, as quoted in the report, said: “Eco Inc. Save the Earth will become a paid game on Steam no sooner than one week after this announcement.” Based on the October 5 announcement date, the report inferred that users should have at least until October 12 to add the game to their libraries.
October 12 is not a verified precise deadline. The live Steam offer and its ending time were not independently confirmed, so do not rely on that date as a guaranteed cutoff. Open the game’s official Steam listing and check whether it still shows a free offer and when it ends.

What does claiming a Steam game for free mean?
Steam distinguishes a Free to Keep promotion from both Free to Play and a Free Weekend. A Free to Keep promotion can grant a permanent license when you acquire the game during the offer period; a Free Weekend provides temporary access, while Free to Play describes a game that can be played without an upfront purchase. Steamworks explains Free to Keep promotions.
