Steam has two major limited-time offers running this week. Battlefield 6 is available through a Free Weekend ending October 19, 2026, at 17:00 UTC. Stranded Deep is advertised on its Steam store page as playable for free until October 19 at 10:00 a.m., although a separate SteamDB listing shows a Free to Keep window ending earlier. Check each live store page before claiming either offer, especially if you want Stranded Deep to remain in your library permanently.
What is free on Steam right now?
| Game | Offer type | Published cutoff | What happens afterward? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battlefield 6 | Free Weekend (temporary license) | October 19, 2026, 17:00 UTC | Access normally ends unless you purchase the game. |
| Stranded Deep | Free-play promotion; SteamDB separately records a Free to Keep period | Steam page: October 19 at 10:00 a.m.; SteamDB record: October 18, 00:00 UTC | Permanent ownership depends on successfully claiming a live Free to Keep offer. Otherwise, access may end when the promotion closes. |
The dates are time-zone sensitive. Steam may display the deadline in your local time, while third-party records can use UTC. Open the current listing for the game you want and confirm the countdown and offer wording before starting a download.

Battlefield 6: a temporary Free Weekend
SteamDB’s promotion package identifies Battlefield 6 as a Free Weekend running from October 15, 2026, at 17:00 UTC through October 19, 2026, at 17:00 UTC. The package includes the game’s multiplayer and single-player components, along with related texture and component entries.
This is not a permanent giveaway. Steamworks distinguishes a Free Weekend from a Free to Keep promotion: a Free Weekend grants a temporary license, so the game generally becomes inaccessible when the event ends unless you buy it. Any progress or installed files should therefore be treated as access during the event, not as ownership.

- On the game’s store page, confirm that the Free Weekend banner and October 19, 17:00 UTC cutoff are still shown.
- Select the button that begins the free installation or play period.
- Start the download early enough to finish before the event expires; the deadline governs the license, not merely the time you begin downloading.
- Buy the game if you want continued access after the Free Weekend.
The available record does not establish specific map counts, player limits, campaign length or performance results, so those details should not be inferred from this promotion listing.
Stranded Deep: survival play with a deadline discrepancy
The official Steam page describes Stranded Deep as a survival game in which a plane-crash survivor is stranded in the Pacific. You scavenge supplies, explore islands and the ocean, and manage hunger, thirst, exposure and injuries while crafting tools, weapons, shelters and rafts.

Its listed modes include single-player, online co-op and split-screen co-op. The game also covers building, farming, hunting and fishing, making it the more clearly documented choice here for players who want a cooperative survival session. A PC gaming headset can help with voice chat during online co-op, but no particular accessory or price is required for the promotion.

Steam’s store page currently says “Play for free until Oct 19 @ 10:00am.” Separately, SteamDB records a Free to Keep period ending October 18 at 00:00 UTC. Those labels imply different outcomes: Free to Keep is intended to add a permanent license when claimed, while ordinary free play ends with the promotion. Because the two displays do not match, use the live Steam listing as the final authority and verify that it explicitly says the game can be kept before assuming ownership.

How to check and claim Stranded Deep
- Search Steam for Stranded Deep and open the official store page.
- Read the current banner, including the exact end date and time shown for your account or region.
- Look for wording that indicates a Free to Keep or 100% discount claim rather than only a temporary play period.
- Add the game to your Steam account while the qualifying offer is active, then confirm it appears in your library.
- If the page only offers temporary play, expect access to end at the stated deadline unless you purchase the game.
The store page shows 74% positive from 23,492 English reviews and 74% positive from 99 recent reviews (Steam display, 2026). Review percentages and counts change over time, so they are a snapshot rather than a permanent rating.

Choose Battlefield 6 if you want a short multiplayer trial
Battlefield 6 is the relevant pick if you want to sample its multiplayer and single-player components during a defined four-day window. Plan around the October 19, 17:00 UTC expiry and do not assume the installation grants continuing ownership.

Choose Stranded Deep if you want survival or co-op
Stranded Deep is the better documented match for solo survival, online co-op or split-screen play. Its permanent-claim status is the key question: the Steam page’s October 19 message and SteamDB’s earlier Free to Keep timestamp conflict, so check the live offer immediately before claiming.

Compare the details that affect your decision
- Access type: Battlefield 6 is a temporary Free Weekend; Stranded Deep may be Free to Keep, but that must be confirmed on Steam.
- Deadline: Battlefield 6 ends October 19 at 17:00 UTC. Stranded Deep displays October 19 at 10:00 a.m. on Steam, while SteamDB lists October 18 at 00:00 UTC for its Free to Keep record.
- Play style: Stranded Deep explicitly supports single-player, online co-op and split-screen co-op. Battlefield 6’s package includes multiplayer and single-player components.
- Library status: Only a correctly claimed Free to Keep promotion should remain permanently; a Free Weekend normally does not.
Before the deadlines
- Open both Steam pages on the device and region where you will play.
- Convert the displayed cutoff to your local time and leave room for downloading or account activation.
- Capture the offer wording if the page shows a Free to Keep claim, then verify the title appears in your library.
- Do not rely on a third-party countdown when Steam’s live page shows a different time.
