What the Starlink referral program is
This is a customer-to-customer promotion, not a public affiliate scheme. An existing subscriber shares a unique referral URL generated in the Starlink app or website. The invited person follows that URL before ordering a kit and subscription directly from Starlink. The referral becomes eligible only after the new subscriber satisfies the program’s service and retention conditions.
The current SpaceX Referral Program Terms describe the referrer’s reward as a promotional incentive, not wages, salary, commission, or payment for services. Starlink can change the commercial schedule by country, so an amount seen in another person’s account may not apply to yours.

Who can refer someone?
Active account in good standing
The referrer must be an active Starlink subscriber in good standing. The terms can limit participation to consumer account types, and the Help Center describes active Residential and Roam customers on localized pages. A business, paused, delinquent, or otherwise ineligible account may not display the Referrals option.
Starlink also requires the referrer to maintain an active qualifying high-speed plan. Standby Mode is excluded. If the referrer stops maintaining the required service, Starlink may cancel a reward that has not yet matured.
Check the account rather than relying on a general list
Plan names and catalogs differ by country and can change. Sign in and confirm that your account has a Referrals section or a Refer Friend action. Who is an eligible new customer?
The referred person must be a natural person who has never been a Starlink subscriber. They must use the referrer’s unique link, purchase the kit and subscription directly through starlink.com, and activate service at an address in the same country as the referrer’s service address.
- The link must be used before the order is placed; entering a code after checkout is not an established correction method.
- The purchase must include an eligible service plan available at the new customer’s address.
- The customer must remain continuously subscribed and in good standing for two full monthly billing cycles.
- Standby Mode does not count toward the qualifying high-speed service period.
- Starlink may reject referrals it considers fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise ineligible.
The terms also contain protections concerning people facing financial hardship, domestic or family violence, or another vulnerability. Do not pressure or target vulnerable people simply to generate a reward; the referral should represent a genuine service decision.

How do I refer people to Starlink?
- Sign in. Open the Starlink app or visit the Starlink website and sign in to the eligible subscriber account.
- Open Referrals. Choose Referrals; the app may label the action Refer Friend.
- Generate the link. Copy the unique URL created for your account. Do not substitute a manually made tracking URL or someone else’s code.
- Share it with a genuine prospective customer. Explain that the person must open the link before ordering, buy directly from starlink.com, and use an address in the same country.
- Monitor the status. Return to the Referrals area to see whether the order and retention requirements have been met and what reward form is available.
How do I use a referral link?
- Open the referrer’s unique link before beginning the order.
- Follow the linked Starlink signup flow and enter the intended service address.
- Select an eligible Residential or Roam plan that is actually offered at that address; local plan names and availability vary.

How much does Starlink pay for a referral?
There is no single worldwide amount. The applicable reward is specified in the referrer’s Starlink Customer Account. The default form is Starlink service credit. In some countries, the account may offer cash instead or provide a choice between cash and credit.

Cash, service credit, and payment registration
If cash is available in your country, you must select that option in the account and complete the required registration with Starlink’s third-party payment processor. Identity verification or other account steps may apply. If you do not complete those steps, the reward may remain service credit or remain unpaid under the applicable terms. Any tax liability connected with a reward is the referrer’s responsibility.
When does the referral credit arrive?
The current English terms use a service threshold, not a universal calendar date: the referred customer must complete two full monthly billing cycles while continuously subscribed and in good standing. The account then shows the referral’s status and applicable reward.

Some localized Help Center pages have described 30- or 31-day timing or a one-month retention period. Those statements are not a reliable worldwide payout rule. Use the current terms that apply to your country and the timing displayed in your account; do not promise a particular number of days to a prospective customer.

Starlink’s terms state that the commercial details in the schedule can differ by country and may be updated. Treat your account portal as the practical source of the live offer, while using the legal terms to understand the conditions and exclusions.
Retailer purchases and account transfers
A referral cannot be made compliant simply by buying hardware from a retailer and entering a link later. The new customer must order the kit and subscription directly from starlink.com through the unique referral link. An account transfer also does not create a qualifying new subscriber, because the referred person must never have been a Starlink subscriber.
Accessories, a separately purchased router, or a gift card do not replace the required linked Starlink order. If qualifying for the referral is your goal, begin with the account-generated link and complete the order in that flow.
Troubleshooting a missing or rejected reward
The Referrals option is missing
- Confirm that you are signed in to the intended account, not a different household or business login.
- Check that service is active, in good standing, and not in Standby Mode.
- Review the local account and plan eligibility; the program is not guaranteed in every country.
The new customer says the link was used, but no referral appears
- Verify that the link was opened before the order was submitted.
- Confirm that the order was placed directly on starlink.com and that the service address is in the same country.
- Check that the person has never held a Starlink subscription and that the selected plan is eligible.
- Allow the customer to complete two full monthly billing cycles; a pending referral is not yet a mature reward.
The reward was canceled or not paid
- Check whether either account left qualifying high-speed service or entered Standby Mode.
- Review payment-processor registration and identity requirements if cash was selected.
- Look for a fraud, abuse, duplicate-account, or eligibility decision in the account and contact Starlink support through the signed-in account if the status remains unclear.
Referral program versus affiliate marketing
An ordinary publisher should not describe this consumer program as an affiliate arrangement. The referrer’s permitted role is to share the unique link with prospective customers. The terms prohibit representing oneself as a Starlink affiliate, and the reward is characterized as a promotional incentive rather than a commission.
