Starlink Plans and Equipment in Spain: What to Know Before You Buy

For a fixed home in Spain, start by entering the exact service address on Starlink.com and compare the Residential and Residential Lite plans shown for that address. Both are described as unlimited-data household services at one fixed location, but Starlink says Lite can be slower at busy times and is intended for smaller households or lighter use. If you need to carry the connection between places, use the Spain-facing Roam offers instead: the page displayed Roam 100GB from €45 per month and Roam Unlimited from €95 per month when checked, with hardware from €199 in selected areas. Those are starting prices, not Spain-wide guarantees.

Your decision has four parts: location-specific plan eligibility, the way your household or trips use data, the equipment form factor, and whether the installation site has a clear enough view of the sky. The final kit, service charge, shipping and any promotion appear in the order flow for your address.

Is Starlink available at my address in Spain?

Availability is not uniform across Spain. Starlink says plans vary with network capacity, regulatory approval and local demand. The choices shown when you change a plan are filtered by your service address, account and hardware, so a plan visible to one customer may not appear for another.

Use Starlink’s Help Center explanation, “¿A qué planes de servicio puedo optar?”, as the policy reference, but treat the order screen as the practical answer for your property.

Check the address before comparing prices

  1. Open Starlink.com and enter the complete installation address, including the municipality and postcode.
  2. Select Order now and review the kit, monthly service, shipping and applicable fees shown for that location.
  3. Sign in to the intended account if prompted. The available plans can depend on that account and the hardware already associated with it.
  4. Save or screenshot the offer before paying so you can compare the final recurring amount with a local fixed-line or mobile alternative.

Starlink’s price guidance specifically directs customers to enter an address and click Order now to see the local kit and monthly service breakdown. It also says that an active hardware discount can be confirmed through the same flow: “¿Cuánto cuesta Starlink?”. Do not treat a price seen on a general page as a guaranteed offer for every Spanish address.

Which plan suits a fixed home?

For a house, apartment, rural property or second home that will use one fixed service location, compare Residential and Residential Lite. Starlink describes both as personal or household services with unlimited data at a fixed land location. The distinction is the expected demand and the performance priority assigned to the plan, not a stated data cap.

Plan Best fit described by Starlink Data Important qualification
Residential Lite Smaller household or lighter internet use Unlimited Starlink warns it may be slower than Residential, particularly during peak hours.
Residential Larger household or heavier internet use Unlimited Positioned for higher demand; the reviewed material does not provide a Spain-specific guaranteed speed.

Starlink’s direct comparison is available in “¿En qué se diferencian los planes Residencial y Residencial Lite?”. It does not publish a Spain-wide side-by-side monthly price or a guaranteed speed figure in that comparison. Your address page is therefore the only reliable place to establish the amount you would pay.

Use household demand, not an invented speed number

Lite can make sense when only a few people connect, most use is web browsing, messaging, occasional video and ordinary cloud work, and simultaneous heavy downloads are uncommon. Residential is the safer choice when several people regularly stream, attend video meetings, upload large files, play online games and update devices at the same time. This is a usage decision, not a promise that either plan will deliver a particular Mbps figure.

Peak-time contention matters. Starlink’s warning about Lite being slower at busy times means the difference may be most noticeable in the evening, weekends or other periods of high local demand. If evening reliability is more important than the lowest available monthly charge, compare the full Residential offer at checkout rather than assuming Lite will perform identically.

Second homes need a service-location decision

A second property is still a fixed-home use case if the dish will remain installed there. Enter that property’s exact address and compare the plans offered for it; do not assume that a plan available at your primary home transfers unchanged. If you intend to move the kit between your main home and the second property, you are no longer describing ordinary fixed Residential use. Check whether a Roam plan and the selected hardware support that pattern before ordering.

When does Roam make sense for travel?

Roam is the portable option for camping, trips and temporary locations. On the Spain-facing Roam page, Starlink displayed these starting offers when checked:

Roam option Displayed starting price What the page says
Roam 100GB From €45/month Intended for occasional travel, camping and getaways; lower-speed data applies after the included Roam data is used.
Roam Unlimited From €95/month Unlimited high-speed data and international coverage are advertised; the displayed speed is an upper capability, not a guarantee.
Hardware From €199 in selected areas The offer is limited by location and can change.

These figures come from the live page “Itinerante con Starlink” and should be rechecked after selecting Spain, your address and the hardware. The page also warns that speeds can be lower during congestion. A 100GB allowance may suit occasional trips, while Unlimited is designed for people who expect frequent or sustained use; neither label removes the need to verify the checkout terms.

International travel has a time limit

Roam policies can change. Starlink’s travel policy says Roam Unlimited may be used outside the registered home country for up to 30 days at a time under the updated policy, and it records different transition dates for new and existing customers. Before taking the kit abroad, open the current policy in your account and confirm that your planned country and duration are permitted. The relevant policy page is “Traveling with Starlink Roam”.

Vehicle and boat use requires extra caution

Portable does not automatically mean approved for every moving vehicle. Starlink’s terms prohibit certain unauthorised in-motion uses and state that unauthorised use can void the kit warranty or lead to service termination. Check the exact plan, hardware and terms for a vehicle or boat installation; do not assume that a residential dish can be operated while moving.

Which Starlink kit do you need?

The practical choice is usually between the full-size Standard kit for a fixed installation and the compact Mini kit for portability. Starlink says most kits can access most service plans and that customers can generally keep existing hardware when changing service plans, but account and hardware eligibility still controls what you can select.

Standard: components and installation implications

The Standard specification sheet lists the antenna, Standard foot, Gen 3 router, power supply and cables. The router specification includes Wi-Fi 6 and two Ethernet ports. The antenna’s stated field of view is 110 degrees, and average power consumption is 75–100 W. These are manufacturer specifications in “Especificaciones estándar”, not independent performance tests.

Standard is the natural fit when the dish will stay at one property, the household needs a conventional indoor router and you can provide a stable mounting position plus continuous power. The 75–100 W figure is useful for sizing an off-grid electrical system, battery or inverter, but actual consumption can vary with conditions and use.

Mini: compact and travel-oriented

Starlink describes Mini as a compact portable kit with an integrated router and markets it with Roam plans. Its smaller form is convenient when the equipment must be packed, transported and set up repeatedly. It is not an automatic replacement for a fixed-home installation: verify the current product, plan compatibility and availability for your account before purchase.

Will your property work? Sky view, mounting and power

A Starlink dish needs a sufficiently open view of the sky. The Standard sheet’s 110-degree field-of-view figure helps you understand the antenna’s requirement, but it cannot certify a particular roof, balcony, field or campsite. Trees, chimneys, parapets and nearby buildings can interrupt the satellite path.

Run a site check before drilling or buying mounts

  • Stand where the antenna would be installed and look for trees, walls, roof ridges and other obstructions across the required sky sector.
  • Consider seasonal changes: foliage that is sparse in winter can block the view in summer.
  • Plan cable routing, weather exposure and a secure surface. A temporary foot on the ground is different from a permanent roof or pole mount.
  • Keep the power supply and router in a dry, ventilated location with an electrical outlet capable of continuous operation.

If the only clear position is far from the building, measure the cable route and identify where the router will provide useful Wi-Fi. A clear dish location does not automatically provide good indoor coverage; you may need wired Ethernet or additional networking equipment, subject to the kit’s supported configuration.

Account for continuous electrical demand

The Standard specification’s average 75–100 W consumption can become a material load at a remote property. At the top of that stated range, 100 W running continuously is about 2.4 kWh per day before accounting for inverter losses or other equipment. Use the manufacturer’s range as a planning input, not as a promise that every installation will draw exactly that amount.

What will you actually pay?

There is no defensible single Spain-wide Residential price from the available information. Starlink explicitly uses the address-based order flow to show the kit and monthly service amount, and local availability, promotions, shipping and fees can alter the total. Check those items together at checkout rather than comparing only the headline subscription.

For Roam, €45 per month for 100GB, €95 per month for Unlimited and hardware from €199 were the displayed starting values on the Spain-facing page at the time checked. They may change, may not apply to every address and do not establish the price of a fixed Residential order. Reconfirm the country selector, hardware offer and recurring service amount immediately before payment.

Returns, plan changes and terms to read

Starlink’s terms describe a 30-day return and full refund for eligible equipment purchased on Starlink.com when it is returned in the stated condition through the customer-portal process. The exact order terms applying to your purchase control, especially if you buy through another channel or use the equipment before returning it. Read the current terms at Starlink Terms of Service and follow the portal instructions rather than shipping a kit without authorisation.

Most kits can generally remain in use when a customer changes service plans, but the account’s eligible choices still depend on address, hardware and local capacity. A plan switch therefore should be checked in the Subscription page, not assumed from a generic compatibility statement.

A decision checklist for buyers in Spain

  1. Identify the use pattern. Choose fixed Residential comparison for one property; investigate Roam when the kit must travel.
  2. Check the exact address. Record the plans, kit and monthly amount shown after selecting Order now.
  3. Match demand to the plan. Consider household size, simultaneous streaming, meetings, uploads and peak-hour use. Lite is aimed at lighter demand and may be slower at busy times.
  4. Select the form factor. Standard suits a permanent setup; Mini is designed around compact portability.
  5. Inspect the installation site. Confirm a clear sky view, safe mounting, cable route and weather protection.
  6. Budget power and networking. Use the Standard kit’s 75–100 W average specification for off-grid planning and decide where Wi-Fi or Ethernet must reach.
  7. Verify travel and vehicle rules. Check the current Roam international policy and any in-motion restrictions before leaving Spain.
  8. Read the final terms. Confirm recurring charges, shipping, promotions, return eligibility and the conditions attached to the purchase channel.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
