What is STARDUST: Wish of Witch?
Kniv Studio Co., Ltd. describes STARDUST: Wish of Witch as a “turn-based single-player pixel SRPG” that reimagines classic strategy-RPG ideas. It is a solo game rather than an online service: the documented release is built around planning battles, developing a party, and progressing through its world without a competitive multiplayer mode listed in the official store information.
The game launched on Steam on May 28, 2026. The Steam product page also lists a downloadable demo and a separate soundtrack product. A digital edition is available through Steam, and an official Xsolla storefront lists the same Windows-focused release information. Prices, bundles, review totals, and downloadable offers are time-sensitive, so check the current store pages before buying.

How combat works
Combat starts with the familiar foundations of a turn-based tactics game: positioning units, reading the battlefield, choosing targets, and deciding when to attack or defend. STARDUST adds a card system on top of those fundamentals, giving each encounter another layer of choices and variables. The official description specifically emphasizes reading enemy moves and changing the course of a fight through counters and combos.
Tactical positioning comes first
Because the game is an SRPG, the location of a character relative to enemies and allies is part of the decision, not merely a visual detail. Before selecting an attack, consider which character can safely reach a target, whether moving exposes another party member, and how the next enemy action could change the value of a square. The published material does not provide a complete map of terrain modifiers, turn-order formulas, or damage calculations, so those details should not be assumed from the broad “turn-based tactics” label.
Cards add a second planning layer
Cards expand the normal action choice beyond a fixed list of commands. In practical terms, you are evaluating the tactical move and the card option together: a card may be more valuable now if it enables a counter or completes a combo, while saving it may create a stronger sequence later. The official description confirms that cards increase combat depth and variables, but it does not publish a complete card catalogue, deck-size rule, resource meter, or probability table. Treat the card system as a strategic layer whose exact limits are learned in the game rather than as a documented set of numerical rules.

Counters reward prediction
A counter-oriented approach means watching what an enemy is preparing to do and selecting a response that turns that forecast into an advantage. The store description tells players to read enemy moves; it does not state that every attack has a universal counter, nor does it specify timing windows or guaranteed outcomes. A useful habit is to pause before committing a major action, identify the most threatening visible enemy intention, and ask whether a defensive or reactive card would produce more value than immediate damage.
Combos connect actions
Combos are another way the systems interact. A character skill, card, and follow-up attack can be considered as a sequence rather than isolated turns when the situation allows it. The sources confirm that counters and combos can turn battles around, but they do not establish a universal combo chart or fixed damage multipliers. Build your own reliable sequences by noting which actions create an opening, which ally can exploit it, and whether the sequence leaves the party exposed to the next enemy turn.

Character skills and ultimate attacks
Characters have individual skills, and stronger abilities become part of the timing decision as a battle develops. Ultimate skills receive 2D animated set pieces, making them a visible payoff when you decide to spend a powerful option. No official skill list, energy requirement, cooldown schedule, or numerical damage values are published in the cited store material, so avoid guides that present unverified numbers as universal rules.
A practical turn-by-turn method
- Read the encounter. Identify enemy intentions and the safest positions for each party member before using a high-value card or skill.
- Set roles. Decide which character is creating pressure, which is protecting an ally, and which is being held back for a counter or follow-up.
- Check the card choice. Compare an immediate card effect with the possibility of preserving it for a combo on the next exchange.
- Commit to the sequence. Use positioning, a character skill, and a card as one plan when they reinforce one another instead of spending each option independently.
- Reassess after the enemy response. A successful counter can change the safest target and the best formation for the next turn.
This method reflects the systems the official description names without assuming hidden rules. The game’s exact balance, available cards, and character roster can change through updates, so in-game tooltips remain the authority for current values.

Platforms and controller support
The researched official listings document a Windows release distributed through Steam. Steam lists Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum operating-system requirement and Windows 10/11 64-bit for its recommended specification. It also lists full controller support, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, and Steam Achievements.
| Platform or feature | What the official listings document |
|---|---|
| Windows PC | Supported; Windows 10 64-bit minimum, Windows 10/11 64-bit recommended |
| Steam | Primary documented PC storefront, with demo and soundtrack products listed |
| Steam Deck | Steam Compatibility status: Playable |
| Controller | Full controller support listed |
| Steam Cloud | Supported |
| macOS, Linux-native, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch | Not identified in the researched official listings |
The last row is deliberately narrow: it means the cited listings do not document those versions, not that a future port is impossible. Check the current publisher and storefront announcements if you are deciding whether to wait for another platform.
Is STARDUST: Wish of Witch playable on Steam Deck?
Yes. Steam marks the title’s Steam Deck Compatibility as Playable, and the listing also advertises full controller support. “Playable” is a compatibility label rather than a promise of identical performance in every scene. Your experience can still depend on the Deck’s power profile, display resolution, control layout, and the game’s current build.

- Operating System: SteamOS 3.0
For a first session, launch the game with the Deck on its normal gaming profile, confirm that every menu and combat command can be reached with the built-in controls, and keep the game updated. If a particular card or tooltip is awkward to select, try the touchscreen or a remapped control layout. The official listing does not publish a Deck-specific frame-rate target, battery estimate, or graphics preset, so those figures should not be treated as guaranteed.

Steam Cloud
The developer’s first patch, dated June 1, 2026, added support for Steam Cloud saves. Steam Cloud synchronizes supported save data through your Steam account, which is useful when moving between compatible computers or reinstalling the game. Cloud synchronization is not the same as an unlimited in-game save command: it transfers the save files the game exposes to Steam, while the game still controls when and where those files are created.
Manual saving in town
A later developer patch dated July 6, 2026 added manual saving in town. This gives you a deliberate save point while your character is in the town area. The patch notes state that a town manual save reflects the following progress:
- Furniture placement
- Quest acceptance
- Café buff status
- Artifact crafting and enhancement
- Card acquisition
- Shop purchase and sale history
- Town-map progress
The documented feature is specifically “manual saving … in town.” The patch archive does not establish unrestricted manual saving during battles or in every map state, so do not assume that you can create a save at any moment in a dungeon, during an encounter, or immediately before every action.
A safe save routine
- Return to town after completing a meaningful task or before experimenting with upgrades.
- Make the manual save using the town’s save function, then wait for the game to confirm that the operation has completed.
- Allow Steam Cloud to synchronize before closing Steam or switching devices. If Steam reports a conflict, compare the local and cloud timestamps and keep the version containing your latest confirmed progress.
- Resume on the same account when moving to another computer and verify that the expected town, cards, and shop history are present before starting new work.
Cloud support reduces the risk of losing a confirmed save during a device change, but it is not a substitute for making a manual town save when you want a deliberate restore point.

- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
PC system requirements
The following specifications come from the Steam and official Xsolla listings. “Equivalent” means a processor or graphics device in the same general performance class; it is not a guarantee that every differently named chip will perform identically.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10/11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i3 or equivalent | Intel Core i5 or equivalent |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Intel UHD Graphics 620 or equivalent | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or equivalent |
| Graphics API | DirectX 11 | DirectX 11 |
| Storage | 5 GB available space | 5 GB available space |
| Audio | DirectX-compatible sound card | DirectX-compatible sound card |
How to interpret the requirements
- Operating system: A 64-bit Windows installation is required by the listed specifications. A 32-bit edition does not meet the documented minimum.
- Memory: The recommended 8 GB gives more headroom than the 4 GB minimum, especially if browsers or launchers remain open.
- Graphics: Intel UHD 620 is the stated minimum class, while the GTX 1050 Ti is the recommended class. Integrated graphics performance varies by laptop power limits and memory configuration.
- Storage: The listing specifies 5 GB of available space. Leave additional free space for Windows, Steam updates, and temporary files rather than treating 5 GB as the capacity of your entire system drive.
- DirectX: Both tiers call for DirectX 11 and a DirectX-compatible sound card.
These are requirements, not a published performance benchmark. The listings do not promise a particular resolution, frame rate, loading time, or graphics preset at either tier.
What changed after launch?
The release date was May 28, 2026. The first cited developer patch on June 1 added Steam Cloud support. On July 6, the developer added town manual saving and specified which town-related progress is included. If you played at launch, update before judging the current save workflow; the launch build did not have the later town-save feature documented in those notes.
Patch behavior, compatibility labels, prices, demo availability, and downloadable products can change. For a purchase made after an update, use the current Steam page and the developer’s latest patch archive as the final check.
Who is the game best suited to?
STARDUST is a strong fit if you want a solo tactical RPG in which the correct answer depends on positioning, anticipating enemy actions, and combining a card choice with a character ability. The animated ultimate attacks add presentation to major decisions, while the pixel-art format keeps the visual identity rooted in classic SRPG design.
It may be a less natural fit if you are looking specifically for real-time combat, a documented multiplayer mode, or a fully published spreadsheet of card probabilities and skill numbers. The official material establishes the core systems, but not a complete balance guide; players who require exact formulas will need to rely on current in-game information and future developer documentation.
