Potatoes take 6 growing days to mature in Stardew Valley’s base crop schedule. The planting day does not count, so a Potato Seed planted on Spring 1 is ready to harvest on Spring 7 if no growth modifier applies.

How the six-day growth time is counted

The Potato’s growth stages last 1, 1, 1, 2 and 1 days, adding up to six growing days. Stardew Valley excludes the day you plant seeds from the growth-time count. That is why planting on Spring 1 leads to a Spring 7 harvest, not Spring 6. The Stardew Valley Wiki’s Potato reference lists the stage schedule, and its crop reference explains the planting-day convention.

When to plant potatoes

Potatoes are Spring crops grown from Potato Seeds. To harvest them before the season ends, count six growing days after the planting day and make sure the resulting harvest date still falls in Spring. For example, a Spring 1 planting matures on Spring 7 without a growth modifier. The Potato reference identifies the crop’s season and seed.

How growth modifiers affect timing

Six days is the unmodified schedule. Speed-Gro and the Agriculturist profession can shorten crop growth: the Speed-Gro reference describes a 10% growth increase from Speed-Gro and a 20% increase with Agriculturist. The exact adjusted harvest date depends on the applicable modifier and the crop’s growth schedule, so use the Potato page’s growth comparison when planning a specific date.

Does a potato plant produce more than one potato?

A mature plant yields at least one potato and may produce extra potatoes; the chance of additional yield is partly based on Daily Luck. Extra potatoes affect the harvest amount, not the time it takes the plant to mature. The Potato reference describes the yield.
