Staples can be a useful last-minute source for personalized holiday gifts, but its same-day pickup is an option for selected products—not a blanket promise. Staples lists photo mugs and travel mugs among items with same-day options, and says eligible standard-pickup orders placed by noon may be ready that day. Product, store capacity, quantity and holiday demand can change the timing, so check the selected item and your local store before you count on a pickup.
What personalized gifts does Staples offer?
Staples’ US photo-gifts catalog lists a broad range of customizable items. Options include photo mugs and travel mugs, calendars, coasters, mouse pads, ornaments, puzzles, custom wrapping paper, photo prints, posters, metal prints, mounted prints and canvas prints. The seasonal holiday page also features cards and invitations and return-address labels.

Staples labels some catalog items as having same-day options, but availability is product-specific. A listing for one item does not establish that every size, configuration or nearby store offers the same fulfillment choice. Start with the exact item you want, then select your store and review the pickup choices shown during ordering. Browse Staples photo gifts.

Which gifts may be ready the same day?
Photo mugs and travel mugs
Staples lists same-day options for selected photo mugs and travel mugs. These are the clearest candidates in the catalog for a last-minute personalized gift, but the option still depends on the specific product and store. Confirm that same-day pickup appears for your chosen design and location before placing the order. See Staples’ same-day service details.

Other photo gifts
The catalog also labels some other products as having same-day options. Do not assume that a calendar, ornament, puzzle, wall print or wrapping paper will be ready today based only on its presence in the catalog; check its live product page and the pickup options for your store.
What Staples’ noon cutoff does—and does not—promise
Staples says eligible standard-pickup orders placed by 12 p.m. can be ready for same-day pickup. That cutoff is a general service condition, not a guarantee for every gift, location, order quantity or holiday-period order. Staples also says peak demand can move some products advertised with same-day service to next-day pickup. Orders placed after noon under standard pickup are generally directed to next-day pickup, according to the holiday page.

Express pickup is a separate, limited option that costs extra. Staples describes it as a three-hour-or-less preparation window, subject to store closing time and the ordering instructions for the item. Orders placed within three hours of a store’s closing time will be ready the next day, rather than within that express window. Check the exact timing and any fee displayed for your order; store capacity and quantity limits can affect what is offered. Review Staples’ holiday printing information.
How to choose an option when time is short
- Choose the gift and configuration. Select the specific product—such as a photo mug, calendar or ornament—and the size or other options you need.
- Set the intended store. Use the local store you can reach, rather than assuming availability based on a general catalog listing.
- Check the displayed fulfillment choice. Confirm whether that item and store offer same-day standard pickup or express pickup, and read the stated pickup timing and any quantity limit.
- Compare the live total. Review the configured product price, any promotion, pickup or delivery choice, and any express fee in the current ordering flow.
- Confirm before making a promise. If the gift must be ready by a particular time, contact the store or verify the order’s pickup estimate before relying on it.
Prices, delivery and availability change
Staples’ catalog displays starting prices, but these can vary with product configuration and promotions. A starting price is not a dependable estimate for a customized order. Check the total for the chosen item, quantity and fulfillment method at checkout. Delivery thresholds shown on Staples pages have varied, so verify the current terms and estimated delivery date rather than relying on a threshold or offer seen elsewhere.

Staples describes its broader Print & Marketing Services as covering cards and invitations, business cards, posters, banners, labels, flyers, brochures, postcards, blueprints, copies and other printed materials. That breadth does not mean every service is a holiday gift or has same-day pickup; use the item-specific page for product and timing details. See Staples Print & Marketing Services.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What this review can establish
This assessment covers the options and timing Staples advertises on its US pages. It is not based on a purchase, store visit or independent print-quality test, so it cannot confirm actual turnaround, print quality or customer satisfaction. The practical takeaway is to treat same-day availability as conditional and verify the exact product, local store and pickup estimate before paying.

- CUSTOM COFFEE MUG YOU DESIGN YOURSELF - Upload any photo, add a name, a date, a quote or a company logo in the customization window before checkout and we print exactly what you send. Full color artwork wraps across both sides of the ceramic cup, so the design stays in view whichever hand holds the handle. There is no minimum order and no setup charge. Photographs, logos, scanned artwork and plain typed text all print the same way. Files upload from a phone or from a computer.
- ELEVEN OUNCE CERAMIC CUP, 3.7 INCHES TALL AND 3.2 ACROSS - White ceramic fired with a glossy glaze, holding 11 oz of coffee, tea or cocoa. A wide loop handle takes two fingers and a weighted base sits flat on a desk. The cup slides under a standard drip machine and stacks in a cupboard with your other ceramic mugs. Top rack of the dishwasher and the microwave are both fine. Artwork is heat pressed into the glaze. The drinking rim is smoothed by hand. Do not scour the printed area.
- NINE COLORS, WHITE OUTSIDE AND COLOR INSIDE - Plain white, jet black, and seven two tone cups with a colored interior and handle in blue, dark blue, gold, green, orange, pink or red. The color is chosen from the menu on this page. Photo gifts and picture gifts read differently on each one, so pick the interior that suits the artwork. Every color on the list takes the same artwork, so a set can mix cups without redrawing anything. One design across a whole set. Ceramic mugs, glossy glaze.
- PHOTO GIFTS AND PICTURE GIFTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY - A wedding photo for parents, a pet portrait for a partner, a class picture for a teacher, a logo run for a small business. Custom gifts for men and personalized gifts for women come off the same page, and a mug for men or a mom mug is the same cup with different artwork. One cup or a full set, the same process either way, with no minimum and no setup charge to work around. Whatever you upload is what gets printed on it.
- PRINTED AFTER YOU ORDER - Nothing is pulled off a shelf with a design already on it. Each cup is printed, then held against the file you uploaded for a color check before it is packed in moulded foam inside a double box.The preview you approved is the file that goes to the press. Nothing to assemble and nothing to type in at checkout. No setup fee on a first order or a repeat one.
