Eleven women entrepreneurs graduated from Nigeria’s Cycle 7 of the Standard Chartered Foundation Women in Tech Accelerator, according to a Vanguard report published October 2, 2026. Five ventures were named for grants of US$10,000 each, making US$50,000 in reported awards. The programme was delivered with Village Capital and the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) at Pan-Atlantic University.

What happened in Nigeria’s Cycle 7?

The graduation ceremony took place at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos, Vanguard reported. Participants received investment-readiness training, personalised business-development support, expert mentorship and opportunities to meet industry leaders and build networks. An earlier Vanguard announcement, published July 1, 2026, said 11 finalists were moving into a 12-week accelerator phase; that duration refers to the phase announced at the time.

What did the programme provide?

The graduation coverage describes a mix of business preparation and founder support: investment-readiness training, personalised business-development assistance, expert mentorship, and opportunities to engage with industry leaders and build networks. The cohort had advanced from the finalist stage into the 12-week accelerator phase announced in July. The reporting describes programme components, but does not establish subsequent revenue growth, jobs created or other post-graduation outcomes.

Joke Adu, Standard Chartered Nigeria’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, was quoted in Vanguard saying that skills, networks, mentorship and capital can help women founders build businesses that create jobs and contribute to Nigeria’s economic development. Dr. Nneka Okekearu, Director of EDC at Pan-Atlantic University, was quoted saying participants strengthened their businesses, increased their use of technology and built connections during the programme.
