What is Stage Fright?
Stage Fright is a story-led co-op adventure in which two players explore a strange town, solve puzzles, overcome obstacles and unravel an ancient mystery. The Steam listing says the story follows Drew, Blake and Charlie, with players switching between pairs of children as events unfold from two perspectives. Ghost Town Games describes it as a game built around communication, teamwork and escape-room-style cooperation.

The game is published by Hello Games, according to its Steam listing. Its official overview describes both online play and playing side by side. The listing sums up its intended emphasis with the line, “The challenge is in the mind, not the finger-tips!”

Is Stage Fright like Overcooked?
It shares Overcooked’s emphasis on coordinating with another person, but the games present that teamwork through different kinds of challenges. Ghost Town Games’ September 9, 2026 announcement contrasts Overcooked’s urgency in timed levels with Stage Fright’s long-form mystery and cooperative puzzles. Expect the social problem-solving to carry over, not the same pace or kitchen tasks.

Ghost Town Games says it wants to carry the appeal and accessibility of couch co-op into a larger adventure. That makes Stage Fright a change in the kind of co-op challenge: players will need to communicate, but the announced premise centers on thinking through puzzles rather than racing to complete kitchen orders. The description establishes the intended design, not how every puzzle will play in practice.
Can you play Stage Fright with two players?
Yes. The game is described as a two-player co-op adventure. The official descriptions support both online co-op and local, side-by-side play, which should make it relevant whether you plan to play remotely or share a screen in the same room.

Ghost Town Games announced a Spring 2027 release target in its September 9, 2026 gameplay announcement. That is a target season, not a specific day. The Steam page currently says “To be announced,” so it does not give a calendar release date.

Why the Overcooked comparison matters
Overcooked established Ghost Town Games’ reputation for cooperative play: the studio says the original launched in 2016 and that it co-developed Overcooked 2 with Team17 and other collaborators. In its 2026 announcement, the studio said Overcooked had been played by “tens of millions of players” and had won “two BAFTAs and a TGA.” Those are the developer’s reported figures, not independent audience measurements.
For returning players, the useful signal is the studio’s stated design shift. Stage Fright aims to retain the communication and accessibility of shared play while giving the pair a longer mystery to work through. Its premise suggests a different flavor of teamwork; it does not establish that the game will repair a relationship or recreate the specific chaos of Overcooked.
