Stack Overflow’s next-generation Stack Internal became generally available on September 30, 2026. The enterprise knowledge platform is designed to organize company information into reusable, traceable knowledge that people and AI agents can evaluate using signals such as source, freshness, expertise and human validation. Stack Overflow says a free Starter workspace is available, with up to three connected knowledge sources.
What is Stack Internal?
Stack Internal is Stack Overflow’s enterprise knowledge platform. Its purpose is to make organizational knowledge easier to find and reuse while preserving context about where it came from and how it was validated. Stack Overflow describes the latest generation as generally available starting September 30, 2026. Stack Overflow announcement
The company says the platform helps more than 15,000 organizations; that is a company-published reach claim, not independent evidence of improved AI performance or business results.
How does Stack Internal help AI agents?
Rather than treating a text match as sufficient, Stack Overflow says Stack Internal evaluates knowledge using provenance, recency, expertise, corroboration and human validation. It can translate these signals into a machine-facing trust score for compatible agents. The announcement describes the approach as helping agents assess whether information is dependable, but does not provide independent measurements showing that it improves agent accuracy.

What changed in the new Stack Internal platform?
More ways to bring in company knowledge
The September release includes a Microsoft Teams connector for standard, private and shared channels, plus updated Slack and Google Docs connectors that Stack Overflow says respect source permissions. The new ingestion API adds another route for bringing information into the platform.

- 【High-Performance APU】The MS-S1 MAX features an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, integrating a Zen 5 architecture CPU (up to 5.1GHz, 16C/32T, 64M L3 Cache), an RDNA 3.5 GPU, and an NPU (50 TOPS). The total system output is 126 TOPS. It provides powerful parallel computing capabilities for demanding AI workflows. It is ideal for running local LLMs, multimodal models, and computationally intensive tasks
- 【128GB UMA Memory】Equipped with up to 128GB of LPDDR5x-8000MT/s unified memory, it enables the CPU and GPU to access a shared, high-bandwidth memory pool with extremely low latency. Ideal for large-scale AI inference, 3D workloads, and complex timelines in video editing. It eliminates traditional VRAM bottlenecks, ensuring smoother data transfer during high-intensity computations. The UMA design maximizes performance stability under high loads
- 【Flexible Expansion】The MS-S1 MAX features USB4 V2 (up to 80Gbps), dual 10GbE LAN, HDMI 2.1 (up to 8K60), a full-length PCIe x16 expansion slot, and dual M.2 slots supporting up to 16TB RAID 0/1. Wi-Fi 7 provides stronger signal coverage and a more stable wireless experience. The slide-out design facilitates upgrades and maintenance. It easily adapts to personal, studio, or rack-mount enterprise environments
- 【High-Efficiency Cooling System】Utilizing an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy chassis, copper base plate, six heat pipes, dual turbine fans, and advanced PCM thermal conductive material, it maintains stable cooling performance even under continuous load. This system supports 130W continuous power and 160W peak power operation, with a built-in 320W power supply. It boasts multiple global certifications including CCC, FCC, UL, CE, and UKCA, ensuring stable and reliable operation in various environments
- 【Cluster Design】Two MS-S1 MAX units can be configured as a dual-unit cluster to run a large 235B Q4 model locally, achieving an output speed of 10.87 tok/s. Supporting 2U rack deployment, multiple MS-S1 MAX units can be cascaded into a distributed cluster to create a high-efficiency AI computing center. A cluster of four MS-S1 MAX units successfully ran a DeepSeek-R1 671B Q4 large model. A reserved cluster power-on interface allows for unified start-up and shutdown
This is a broader launch scope than the July 30 preview, which described ingestion from Stack Internal Community, Google Docs and Slack. The July post also discussed confidence labels, provenance cards and permission-aware agent access. July preview announcement
Expert input and handling conflicting information
A workflow can route a critical knowledge gap to a subject matter expert through Slack. The platform can also flag conflicting information in its responses, giving teams a way to identify disagreement rather than treating incompatible answers as settled fact.

- Connect Your Way - Configure your workspace to your liking with an ambidextrous USB-C cable that can be routed left or right.
- Most Manageable - Remotely manage your smart docks without end-user presence from the Dell Device Management Console, which is the industry's first holistic peripheral management solution that configures, deploys, and updates smart docks over Wi-Fi.
- Work Securely - Keep working confidently with enterprise-grade WPA-3 192-bit encryption for secure Wi-Fi communication. Safeguard your sensitive data with tamper-resistant, hardware-based encryption built into your Dell Pro Smart Dock.
- Effortless Maintenance - Reduce IT efforts by scheduling updates during off-hours, while ensuring fleetwide firmware compliance and eliminating end user interruptions.
- Designed for Sustainability - The Dell Pro Smart Dock SD25 is built with at least 65% post-consumer recycled materials and packaged with 100% recycled or renewable packaging.
Governance and activity visibility
Stack Overflow lists custom roles and permissions, controls for audit information and content deletion, activity tracking, exportable audit trails, and a dashboard with measures including helpful answer rate and daily active users. These are product capabilities described by the company; usage measures are not, by themselves, proof that agents became more accurate or that a business outcome improved.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does Stack Internal work with Claude or Codex?
Stack Overflow says its MCP Server provides verified organizational knowledge to compatible AI tools and specifically names Claude and Codex in the September announcement. The launch resource also names Cursor. Access will depend on the tool being compatible with the server and on the organization’s configuration and permissions; the announcement does not establish support for every AI client.

Can you try Stack Internal for free?
Yes. Stack Overflow says anyone can create a free Starter workspace, connect up to three knowledge sources, store verified information and collaborate with colleagues. Existing Stack Internal Community customers are directed to contact their account representative to get started. The September announcement does not state full paid-plan pricing. What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The release establishes what Stack Overflow says the product now offers: expanded ingestion, permission-aware connectors, MCP delivery, trust signals, expert workflows and governance tools. It does not independently verify security or efficacy claims, compare Stack Internal with competing products, or demonstrate a measured improvement in AI accuracy or business outcomes. Teams evaluating it should assess connector coverage, permissions, provenance and freshness, human review, conflict handling, audit exports, deployment needs and pricing against their own requirements.
Stack Overflow’s Chief Product and Technology Officer Jody Bailey said: “Enterprise AI doesn’t need access to more information, people and agents need verified knowledge they can confidently trust.” Stack Overflow announcement
