Those details distinguish the preview listing from any other Squad page or a future full-release listing.
Use the right discovery route first
Enlist with the intended PSN account
- Open Offworld Industries’ official Squad console announcement.
- Select its enlist link.
- Sign in with the PSN account that you will use to play on the PS5.
- Complete the enlistment flow, then wait briefly before checking the Store or library again.
Being described as “open to all” does not remove the enlistment requirement. If you enlisted while signed into a different PSN account, the entitlement can be attached to that account instead of the one on your console.

Search for the exact Store item
On the PS5, open the PlayStation Store and search for Squad. Select the result that explicitly says PS5 Alpha Preview and Free Beta. Check the platform line before downloading; the correct listing supports PS5 and PS5 Pro. A similarly named page, a PS4 result, or a general game page is not proof that the alpha entitlement is present.
You can also open the alpha listing from the PS App. Storefront visibility can differ by country, so a result visible in one region may not appear in another. If the canonical listing is not shown in your local Store, continue with the region and account checks below rather than repeatedly searching with different wording.
Try the PS App handoff as a fallback
One Reddit user reported a workaround: open the alpha website while signed into the PS App, choose the download option, and allow the request to hand off to the app. This is community-reported behavior, not an official PlayStation or Offworld Industries guarantee. Treat it as a discovery workaround only; it cannot bypass a missing entitlement, regional restriction, or an ended preview window.
Fixes when the item or invite remains missing
1. Confirm the account that enlisted
Check the email address and online ID of the PSN account currently active on the PS5 and in the PS App. If the console has multiple users, switch to the account used on the enlistment page before searching again. A family member’s account, a secondary account, or a different regional account may have a separate Store catalogue and transaction history.
Where PlayStation asks you to verify ownership or a transaction, use the account’s transaction history and library rather than starting a second enlistment with another account. Duplicate signups can make it harder to identify which account received the entitlement.
2. Check hidden games and the library
From the PS5 home screen, open Game Library and inspect the full collection, including hidden items. If the alpha is listed there, open its product page and select download. A Store search can fail even when the entitlement is already in the library.

If you previously hid the item, unhide it and search again. Also check that the console is using the same PSN profile shown in the PS App. Library visibility is account-specific.

PlayStation’s account troubleshooting recommends checking Console Sharing and Offline Play and restoring licences when purchased or entitled content is absent. On PS5, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other, review the Console Sharing and Offline Play setting, and use Restore Licences. Sign out and back in after the restore if the product still does not appear.
Restoring licences does not create access where enlistment or regional availability is missing. It refreshes the console’s record of content already associated with the signed-in account.
4. Check PlayStation service status and network conditions
A Store or download outage can make a valid listing look unavailable. Check the official PlayStation Status page before changing console data. If services are experiencing an incident, wait until the affected service is operational and retry the search.
Also verify that the PS5 is online, the system clock is correct, and the connection is stable enough to contact the Store. A failed content request can leave an incomplete or blank result even when the listing itself is available.

Install the latest PS5 system-software update before troubleshooting further. Open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings, then choose the available update option. Restart the console after the update and search for the exact alpha listing again.

Older system software can cause Store pages, library metadata, or download queues to display incorrectly. Updating does not extend the preview period; it only removes a local compatibility variable.
6. Use Safe Mode cache and database tools
If the item is still absent after the account and service checks, PlayStation’s support guidance includes Safe Mode maintenance:
- Turn the PS5 off completely, not just into Rest Mode.
- Press and hold the power button until you hear the second beep.
- Connect the controller with a USB cable and press the PS button.
- Choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database.
- Start with the cache-clearing option. If the library or Store remains inconsistent, return to Safe Mode and use Rebuild Database.
These options are intended to refresh temporary data and the console’s content index. Do not select a reset or reinstall option unless you have backed up your data and understand that it can remove local content.
7. Restart a stalled or incomplete download
If the alpha appears but will not finish downloading, open Downloads/Uploads from the PS5 control centre.
- Pause the Squad alpha download, wait a few seconds, and resume it.
- If it remains stuck, cancel and delete the download.
- Open Game Library, locate Squad — PS5 Alpha Preview, and start the download again.
Before retrying, ensure the console has enough free storage and that no system update or other large download is monopolising the connection. A failed queue entry is different from a missing entitlement: deleting it removes the local transfer job, not the account’s licence.
Region and timing can explain a genuinely missing listing
Store region
PlayStation catalogues are region-specific. A Reddit discussion includes a user report that the alpha was unavailable in Germany, but no authoritative country list was identified in the official announcement or Store information. Treat that report as unconfirmed rather than as a worldwide Germany policy.

Check the Store associated with your PSN account’s country. If the listing is absent there after enlistment, contact PlayStation Support and state your account country, PS5 model, PSN online ID, and the exact product name you searched for. Do not change your account country casually: PlayStation account regions are not a simple troubleshooting toggle, and changing region is not a guaranteed way to obtain an event listing.
Preview window
The announced window is October 16–25, 2026. If you are checking after October 25, the listing or download may no longer be offered. PlayStation’s beta guidance says betas are time-limited and participation does not guarantee continued access to the game or content after the beta ends. A download already installed may also stop working when the event closes.
