Yes—under specific conditions. Spotify now documents a shorter Siri command for iPhones running iOS 27 or later with Apple Intelligence enabled, when Siri is set to English and the feature is available in the user’s region. In that setup, you can say, “Hey, Siri, play my Discover Weekly playlist,” without adding “on Spotify.”
This is not a universal change to every Siri setup. If Apple Intelligence Siri is unavailable, Siri uses another language, or Siri chooses a different music app, keep saying “on Spotify.”

What changed in Siri’s Spotify command
Spotify’s support guide now lists two different command patterns. With Siri with Apple Intelligence, the service name can be omitted from a request such as “Hey, Siri, play my Discover Weekly playlist.” Spotify’s conventional Siri instructions continue to show the longer form with “on Spotify.”

Requirements for the shorter prompt
- iOS 27 or later: Spotify’s support table identifies this as the required iPhone software version for Siri with Apple Intelligence.
- Apple Intelligence enabled: Open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and turn the feature on.
- English Siri: Spotify’s table identifies English for the command form that leaves out the service name.
- Supported region: Siri with Apple Intelligence is not available in every country or region.
Apple said on September 14, 2026, that “Siri AI begins rolling out today in beta in English.” The company also said French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support was coming the following month. That language roadmap does not mean every Apple Intelligence language already supports the shortened Spotify command.
Apple’s rollout statement says Siri AI is initially unavailable on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS in the European Union, and that Siri AI and other new Apple Intelligence features are unavailable in China while Apple works through regulatory requirements. Availability can change as the rollout expands.

Which command should you use?

If Siri starts playback in another app, append “on Spotify” to the request. Spotify says repeated use with Siri helps it learn your preference, but that is not a guarantee that every future request will route consistently without naming the service.
How to test it on your iPhone
- Check the software version in Settings > General > Software Update. The documented shortened form requires iOS 27 or later.
- Open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and confirm Apple Intelligence is enabled.
- Check that Siri’s language is English for this documented command form.
- Confirm that Apple Intelligence Siri is available in your country or region.
- Say “Hey, Siri, play” followed by a specific song, artist, album, playlist, or podcast name. For a first test, use a clearly named item such as “Play my Discover Weekly playlist.”
- If another app opens, repeat the request with “on Spotify” at the end.

These are Spotify’s documented functions; the support page does not explain the underlying app-selection mechanism or guarantee that every natural-language request will work identically.
Fixes when playback does not work
Siri chooses another music app
Add “on Spotify” to the end of the command. This is Spotify’s explicit fallback when the shorter wording does not select Spotify.

Siri does not resume what you were listening to
Name the content directly, for example: “Play [podcast name] on Spotify.” Spotify also recommends making sure the Spotify app is up to date and restarting the iPhone.

The command is not recognized
Verify iOS 27 or later, Apple Intelligence under Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, English Siri, and regional availability. Then test with a precise title rather than a vague request.

Do you need Spotify Premium or new hardware?
The official instructions describe a software feature and a change in wording. They do not say that Spotify Premium, a new iPhone, headphones, speakers, or another accessory is required for this Siri command. An eligible iPhone and the supported software configuration are the requirements documented by Spotify and Apple.
