Start with YouTube Music’s built-in transfer option, move likes as likes rather than as a playlist, and audit the results before changing or cancelling Spotify. Your Spotify library stays intact, but future edits do not sync automatically.
What a Spotify-to-YouTube Music transfer can—and cannot—move
YouTube Music’s transfer process can bring over supported library records such as playlists, albums, artists and tracks, depending on the source service. It does not move audio files, offline downloads or streaming access entitlements. Google cautions that “Some songs may not be available on YouTube Music.” A missing match may reflect availability, regional rights, different versions or metadata—not necessarily a failed transfer.

Google says the original music remains on the source service, and Soundiiz likewise says it leaves the Spotify library unchanged. Neither service describes ongoing synchronization: changes you make later in Spotify will not automatically appear in YouTube Music. Podcasts are not supported by YouTube Music’s documented transfer process.

Try YouTube Music’s built-in transfer first
- In YouTube Music, open Profile > Settings > Privacy & data > Transfer playlists from other apps.
- Connect Spotify as the source service and select the items YouTube Music presents for transfer.
- Authorize the Google account you intend to use with YouTube Music and complete the transfer prompts.
- For a larger library, allow processing to continue in the background; Google says you do not need to keep the app or page open.
Google’s instructions describe supported imports as playlists, albums, artists and tracks, depending on the previous service. The exact items offered can therefore vary. See Google’s YouTube Music transfer instructions.
When a third-party transfer service may help
Google names TuneMyMusic and Soundiiz as examples of third-party services. Google does not guarantee their quality or handle disputes between users and those providers, so check the service’s current terms and category coverage before authorizing access.

Soundiiz documents transfers from Spotify to YouTube Music for playlists, liked songs, saved albums and followed artists. Its free plan transfers playlists one at a time and lets you select up to 200 tracks per playlist; the first 200 are selected by default, though you can change the selection. Batch playlist transfers and the liked-tracks, albums and artists categories require a paid plan. These limits are described in Soundiiz’s Spotify-to-YouTube Music transfer tutorial, accessed October 7, 2026; confirm current terms before starting.
Soundiiz matches items using details such as title, artist, album, duration and version, and may use ISRC or UPC identifiers when available. It can flag uncertain or unmatched results for review, but matching is not a promise that the destination has the same recording. The service transfers library information rather than downloading tracks.

Transfer Liked Songs as actual likes
A playlist named “Liked Songs” is not the same as YouTube Music’s liked-music collection. If you transfer that playlist as a playlist, its tracks land in a regular playlist; they are not automatically marked as liked.
With Soundiiz, use the Tracks category—under Library > Tracks—to transfer matched tracks as favorites. Soundiiz states that YouTube Music’s Liked Music collection has a limit of 5,000 tracks (support page updated August 22, 2026). A Spotify collection larger than that cannot be fully represented there in a single liked-music list; verify what was added and plan separately for any excess rather than assuming it all transferred. Audit the destination before relying on it
- Open YouTube Music with the same Google account and YouTube channel you authorized during the transfer.
- Check playlists in Library > Playlists, albums in Library > Albums, liked tracks in Liked Music, and followed artists under Subscriptions.
- Compare playlist contents and counts with your inventory. Review the transfer service’s results for unmatched or uncertain tracks, and search for those songs in YouTube Music.
- Where an item is missing, look for an available version and add it manually if appropriate. A cover, remaster, live recording or alternate version may not be the same recording as the Spotify item.
- If the web library appears complete but the mobile app does not, refresh it or sign out and back in. Confirm the account and channel again before treating the item as missing.

Do not delete Spotify playlists or cancel the subscription simply because a transfer reports completion. First confirm the destination categories you care about, investigate unmatched items, and check that important recordings are playable in your region. A completed transfer means the service finished its operation; it does not establish that every source track found an equivalent destination match.
