What was Spiceworks Network Monitor?
Network Monitor was software for IT professionals to monitor servers and networking devices. Its stated purpose was to show device health and status in real time, in a single at-a-glance view. The available historical descriptions do not establish a complete technical specification, so the product should not be assumed to have supported any particular protocol, metric, or device beyond what those descriptions say. What could it do?
The product’s central value was a live overview of server and network-device status. In a 2015 review, IT Pro noted that it could be used alongside Spiceworks’ IT Help Desk and Inventory products. That review also called out limited alert customization and reliance on Spiceworks authentication and internet access as drawbacks at the time; these are historical observations, not current tests. Is Spiceworks Network Monitor still supported?
No. A third-party page reproducing a Spiceworks team announcement says downloads were removed for new users and support ended on January 20, 2020. The notice reports that Spiceworks had received a vulnerability report, decided not to issue a patch, and recommended that current users stop using Network Monitor and migrate to another tool. Because the original official announcement was not located, these lifecycle details are attributed to the reproduced notice rather than presented as a link to an original Spiceworks page. Do not install or continue relying on an old copy as though it receives security updates.

What replaced it?
The reproduced announcement named Spiceworks Connectivity Dashboard as its recommended free alternative at that time. It described checks for device or IP availability and business-critical websites, with email alerts. That was a historical recommendation only; its current availability, support status, and suitability are not established here. Verify those details directly before considering it.
