SOXL rose from $120.29 to an intraday high of $126.45 after a TradePulse Power Inflow alert at 11:03 a.m. EST on October 13, 2026. That move was 5.12% from the alert price by 2:30 p.m., according to the report. The alert describes order-flow activity associated with buying by retail and institutional participants, but it does not establish that the signal caused the gain or predict what SOXL will do next.
What happened to SOXL
The reported catalyst was a TradePulse Power Inflow alert issued at 11:03 a.m. EST while SOXL traded at $120.29. The ETF subsequently reached $126.45 by 2:30 p.m. EST, a 5.12% increase from the trigger price. The report characterizes the move as an intraday association with the alert, not as proof of a repeatable trading edge.

TradePulse describes a Power Inflow signal as a bullish indication of institutional and retail interest, highlighting where traders may be entering the market. It is an informational order-flow reading: it does not guarantee accuracy, forecast a particular price, or demonstrate that future returns will follow the October 13 move. Past performance is not indicative of future results.
What SOXL is designed to do
SOXL is the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF. Its objective is to seek 300% of the NYSE Semiconductor Index’s return for a single day, before fees and expenses. The fund resets its exposure daily, so the objective applies to each trading day rather than to a week, month or year.
#1 Best Overall
Direxion explicitly says investors should not expect SOXL to deliver three times the index’s cumulative return over periods longer than one day. A simple calculation such as “the index gained 10%, so SOXL should gain 30%” is valid only as a one-day objective and only before the fund’s expenses and the effects of market trading.
Which semiconductor companies drive the index
SOXL’s benchmark is the NYSE Semiconductor Index. Direxion’s dated snapshot, with index data as of June 30, 2026, listed the following constituents and weights. These percentages can change as the index is rebalanced and prices move.
Rank #2
| Holding | Weight |
|---|---|
| Micron Technology | 8.55% |
| Advanced Micro Devices | 8.10% |
| Nvidia | 6.82% |
| Intel | 6.34% |
| Broadcom | 6.08% |
| Applied Materials | 5.78% |
| KLA | 5.65% |
| Marvell Technology | 5.23% |
| Lam Research | 4.90% |
| Taiwan Semiconductor | 4.27% |
The portfolio therefore combines chip designers and manufacturers with semiconductor-equipment companies. A strong or weak session in a few large constituents can materially affect the index and, through SOXL’s leverage, the ETF’s daily result.

Why a 3X daily target does not compound into 3X long-term returns
Daily reset
At the end of each trading day, the fund adjusts its exposure to pursue the next day’s 300% target. The next day’s starting point is therefore the ETF’s changed net asset value, not the original purchase price.

Compounding and volatility
Path matters. If the benchmark rises one day and falls the next, the percentage changes apply to different starting values. Repeated losses can erode capital faster than a headline “three times” figure suggests, while alternating gains and losses can leave SOXL below three times the benchmark’s cumulative performance even when the index finishes near its starting level.
Derivatives and costs
Leveraged exposure generally uses derivatives and other instruments, which add financing, counterparty, liquidity and tracking considerations. Fees and expenses also reduce results relative to the gross daily objective.

How to interpret the October 13 signal
- Treat $120.29 as the reported trigger price. The 5.12% figure is measured from that price to the $126.45 intraday high, not from a prior close or a guaranteed exit.
- Separate description from prediction. The alert identified buying-oriented order flow; it did not promise that SOXL would continue rising after 2:30 p.m.
- Check the underlying session. Because SOXL targets the NYSE Semiconductor Index daily, semiconductor-stock moves, index changes and market volatility matter more than the alert alone.
- Use risk controls before entering. A 3X ETF can move sharply in either direction, so position size, an exit plan and the ability to absorb a substantial loss are more important than the signal’s bullish label.
How long can you hold SOXL?
There is no universal safe holding period. SOXL is built around a one-day objective, and holding it for several sessions, weeks or months introduces compounding and volatility effects that can produce results very different from three times the index’s change. Some traders may hold it beyond one day with active monitoring and a specific risk plan, but that is a trading decision rather than the fund’s stated long-term design.
Longer holding periods also expose investors to sector concentration. Semiconductor demand, inventories, capital-spending cycles, export rules, interest rates and company-specific earnings can all move the benchmark. A diversified, unleveraged fund has different risk characteristics and should not be assumed to behave like SOXL.

Key risks after a bullish alert
- Leverage: A one-day decline in the index can be magnified approximately threefold before fees and expenses.
- Volatility drag: Alternating gains and losses can reduce the multi-day result even when the index has little net change.
- Principal loss: The value of an investment can fall substantially, and a bullish signal does not limit downside.
- Concentration: Exposure is focused on one industry rather than spread across the broader market.
- Tracking differences: Financing, derivatives, expenses, market conditions and rebalancing can make the ETF’s return differ from exactly 300% of the index’s published daily return.
- Signal uncertainty: The October 13 report supplies an observed intraday relationship, not independently verified evidence of causal performance.
Direxion describes leveraged ETFs as riskier than unleveraged alternatives and says they are not suitable for all investors. Anyone considering a trade should read the fund’s current prospectus and fact sheet, understand the daily-reset mechanism, and use a regulated brokerage account that supports the product and its risks.
Bottom line
SOXL’s 5.12% intraday rise followed a Power Inflow alert at $120.29 and a later high of $126.45 on October 13, 2026. The event shows how quickly a leveraged semiconductor ETF can move, not that the alert predicts future gains. SOXL targets 300% of the NYSE Semiconductor Index for one day; over longer periods, daily resets, compounding, volatility, derivatives and concentrated semiconductor exposure can produce very different outcomes.
