The Soundcore Q20i is an over-ear budget headphone with active noise cancellation, app-based sound controls and long manufacturer-rated battery life. TechRadar’s Steve Clark named it his Prime Day pick on October 6, 2026, based on his own daily work use. That is a personal recommendation, not an independent comparison test; the deal prices below are publication-time figures and may have changed.
What makes the Q20i a work-focused pick?
Clark says he uses the Q20i to stay focused and take calls at work, and describes its audio quality as the best he has heard among budget headphones. That is his subjective assessment, not a measured ranking. The case for considering it is practical: it combines over-ear design, hybrid ANC, Bluetooth dual-device connectivity and adjustable sound in a relatively inexpensive model.

Soundcore says the hybrid noise-cancellation system uses two internal and two external microphones. The headphones also have 40 mm dynamic drivers, BassUp, and an app with 22 EQ presets. The product listing’s claim of “up to 90%” noise reduction is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently verified result. See Soundcore’s Q20i product details.

What the noise cancellation can—and cannot—do
ANC is intended to reduce surrounding noise, not create silence. Soundcore says it mainly reduces low-frequency noise; voices may not be reduced effectively. For an office, that means steady background sound may be a better fit for ANC than nearby conversations.

The Q20i offers ANC, Normal and Transparency modes. Transparency lets ambient sound through, but Soundcore cautions that conversation can still be difficult to hear over music. Pause playback or remove a cup when you need to follow a discussion.
Battery life and charging, with the test basis
Soundcore and its user guide rate playback at up to 40 hours with ANC on and up to 60 hours with ANC off. Soundcore’s support FAQ says its battery results were measured at 50% volume with three songs looped; actual runtime varies with the environment and music. The FAQ lists a two-hour full charge and says a ten-minute charge provides four hours of playback. These are manufacturer figures, not independently tested results. Wired listening and calls have trade-offs
When you connect the Q20i through its AUX cable, Bluetooth turns off and ANC is disabled, according to the user guide. Wired listening is therefore not a way to keep noise cancellation while avoiding Bluetooth.
Bluetooth calls use the built-in microphone. Soundcore notes that ambient noise may remain audible to the other caller in a busy setting, so the Q20i should not be treated as a guarantee of clear calls in noisy surroundings.

Who should consider the Q20i?
- Consider it if you want over-ear ANC for steady background noise, long advertised battery life and EQ adjustments at a budget price.
- Look elsewhere or test carefully if your priority is suppressing speech, hearing conversations while music plays, or making calls in a noisy environment.
- Keep the wired limitation in mind if you expect ANC to work over AUX; it does not.
Soundcore’s product page and guide disagree on the Bluetooth version: the page says Bluetooth 5.0, while the guide says Bluetooth 5.3. The exact version is therefore unclear from those materials and is best left out of a buying decision unless the documentation for the specific unit resolves it.
