Pocket Gamer’s list is one useful snapshot—not an official or universally applicable ranking.
What the current tier list can—and cannot—tell you
Pocket Gamer’s Soul Strike tier list is marked updated October 4, 2026, and identifies itself as version 3.2.6. The page says it added Laurent, Ruelle, Aiyo, Hannia, and Riel. Its author says the rankings draw on personal experience and information gathered from the community, and cautions that “no tier list is absolute.” Treat the placements as an editorial snapshot, not a controlled character comparison or an official developer ranking.

The page describes S-tier allies as able to carry across stages, while noting that lower-ranked allies may be more useful in early or mid stages. That distinction is a reminder that a ranking can reflect broad or later-stage performance without identifying the best next investment for your account.
Read roles and effects, not just letters
The tier page describes Charlotte as an area-damage dealer who reduces enemy Earth resistance and can provide healing through King Slime. It describes Felino as reducing enemy defense and applying bleed. Those effects address different team needs; whether either is valuable depends on what your roster is missing.

How to judge an ally against your roster
1. Identify the bottleneck
Decide what is holding your team back: damage, healing, support, debuffs, crowd control, or another role. A top-ranked damage dealer may not help as much as a lower-ranked ally who supplies a missing effect. Charlotte’s healing and Earth-resistance reduction, for example, are distinct reasons to consider her beyond her tier placement.
2. Check how the ally interacts with your build
Com2uS describes Ran as damaging all enemies, stunning them, and increasing allies’ critical damage. Its Origin Orb relic update describes a chance to reduce the cooldown of a skill used. These official examples illustrate why an ally should be considered alongside the skills and relics around it: a contribution that complements your existing build may be more useful than a higher placement that does not.

3. Match element-specific strengths to the team you are building
Com2uS says Cecilia is effective for wind-element decks. Her awakening adds attacks and reductions to defense and wind resistance. That makes her element and awakening effects relevant when they fit your team; it is not, by itself, a reason to invest regardless of your roster.
4. Consider who you can obtain and develop
In a historical Master Pick notice, Com2uS described a custom pickup in which players selected three allies, alongside selection tickets connected to a community-voted top three. This shows that some acquisition choices have been event-based or player-selected, but the notice does not establish what is available now. Check current in-game options before deciding to wait for a pickup.

Official notices also describe awakening, unique transcendence, and companion keepsakes as progression systems. Compare the ally you can realistically develop with alternatives you already own, and check current in-game costs before spending scarce resources. The cited notices do not provide a complete cost table or a universally optimal upgrade sequence.

- Name the problem. Identify the specific role or effect your current team lacks.
- Make a realistic shortlist. Include allies you own and those you can reasonably obtain; do not assume a past event pickup is still available.
- Compare fit. Check each candidate’s role, element, synergy with your skills and relics, and development state.
- Use tiers as a signal. Let the tier list help distinguish otherwise suitable options, rather than override your team’s needs.
- Reassess when circumstances change. Revisit the choice after game updates or when your roster and build change.
This is a practical decision framework, not an in-game formula. The available sources do not establish controlled comparisons across account progress or a single optimal investment order for every player.
