Build a Soul Strike team around the effects a stage calls for, then use elemental resonance where it fits your available allies and skills. The game’s five-ally formation gives room to combine damage, crowd control, and team buffs, but the official sources do not establish one best lineup for every stage or account. Use the training mode to compare the options you actually have.
What “roles” mean in Soul Strike
Think of roles as jobs your lineup needs to cover, not as a fixed tank–healer–damage party template. The documented examples include allies and skills that deal damage, stun enemies, increase allied critical damage, or interact with an element or status effect. Check the descriptions of the characters and skills you own, then decide which effects answer the target stage’s demands.

- Control: effects such as a stun can interrupt or hold enemies.
- Team support: buffs such as increased allied critical damage can improve damage from other parts of the formation.
- Damage: direct damage and effects tied to elements or statuses can provide different ways to hurt enemies.
These are useful comparison categories, not an official role taxonomy or proof that any particular character is currently optimal.
How many allies can you use?
An official publisher update report describes expanding the ally formation from four slots to five. Treat five allies as the documented formation size in that report, while checking the current in-game screen for any changes introduced after it.

How elemental resonance works
Com2uS Holdings says elemental resonance unlocks when the Soul Research Lab reaches level 10. Once available, setting three of the four ally or skill slots to the same element causes the remaining slot to change to that element. The publisher presents this as a way to make deck composition more flexible; it does not say that one element is universally strongest. Com2uS Holdings
Use resonance when the alignment supports the effects you want, rather than forcing a lineup into one element at the expense of its other useful effects. Inspect the skill and ally descriptions, since the benefit of a particular alignment depends on the effects and content in question.

Build around effects that complement one another
Publisher examples show how different jobs can fit together. Ally Ran is described as dealing damage, stunning enemies, and increasing allied critical damage. The Phoenix skill is described as fire-element damage; its awakening effects can increase allied critical damage or add damage against burning enemies. These examples illustrate a possible combination of control, team support, and element- or status-linked damage. They are examples of interactions, not a current recommended team.

Compare lineups in training mode
The publisher describes a training mode that lets players configure allies, skills, relics, pets, and stage mechanics to experiment with combinations. Use it to compare candidate lineups against the content you want to clear, changing one factor at a time where possible so you can tell which effect is helping.
- Identify the target stage and the challenge you need to address.
- Inspect the effects of your available allies and skills; note relevant control, buffs, damage, element, and status interactions.
- Make a five-ally arrangement that covers the needed jobs, using resonance if it is unlocked and useful for that arrangement.
- Set up the relevant allies, skills, relics, pets, and stage mechanics in training mode.
- Compare alternatives against the same stage conditions. Consider whether the result depends on a particular level or awakening.
For a fair comparison, keep the target content and other setup choices consistent while testing a change. That makes it easier to distinguish a lineup improvement from a difference in stage conditions or progression.

Account for later-game elemental cores
Elemental resonance is not the only documented elemental system. Com2uS Holdings’ second-anniversary article describes a Core Research Lab that opens at Conqueror stage 12,000. It lets players strengthen five elemental cores; matching-element cores placed next to one another can grant extra stats, with layout shape and the number of neighboring cores also affecting bonuses. What the available evidence does not establish
The publisher material documents mechanics and examples, but it does not provide a controlled lineup comparison or a current tier list. As a result, it cannot support a universal best-team recommendation or a ranking by mode, stage, or account progression. Use the effects available on your own account and test them against the content you are trying to clear.
