Sony’s REON POCKET is a wearable thermal device that cools or warms the skin where it touches the back of the neck or upper back. It is not a conventional air conditioner: it does not cool a room or circulate chilled air around your whole body. Sony Support describes it as “a new type of wearable thermal device that can directly cool or warm the back of the neck.”
What is Sony’s wearable air conditioner?
The REON POCKET is a body-worn device that uses contact cooling or warming at the area it touches. “Wearable air conditioner” is a convenient shorthand, but it can give the wrong impression: this is localized temperature control, not a portable room AC or whole-body cooling system.

Sony’s 2026 lineup includes the REON POCKET 6, a compact model positioned for commuting, and the REON POCKET PRO Plus, the flagship positioned for longer continuous use. Both support cooling and warming, but they differ in design, controls, and the runtime estimate Sony publishes.

What Sony’s 2°C claim means
Sony Thermo Technology Inc. says the REON POCKET 6 can achieve a cooling-surface temperature up to 2°C lower than the prior RNP-5 model. That is a company test claim, not a statement that the device lowers room temperature or produces a universal 2°C reduction in body temperature.
The comparison used strong cooling in a 35°C room while resting, and measured the lowest cooling-surface temperature after 10 minutes. Sony says results vary depending on conditions and use.

Sony Electronics Inc. estimates up to 15 hours of SMART COOL runtime for the PRO Plus. The estimate is based on initial settings, a 30°C indoor environment, and resting use. Sony says actual runtime varies with conditions and use, and battery capacity declines as the battery ages.
