The Sony Xperia 10 IV still has an unusual combination of useful hardware: a light, narrow body, 6-inch OLED screen, headphone jack, microSD slot and 5,000mAh battery. But Sony lists its security-support period as ending in June 2025, and Android 14 is its latest listed major update. In 2026, consider it only as a low-cost used phone if you accept that support limitation and verify the exact model works on your carrier.
At a glance: Sony Xperia 10 IV specifications
Sony announced the Xperia 10 IV on May 11, 2022, as a mid-range 5G phone below its Xperia 5 and Xperia 1 lines. Its priorities were low weight, a narrow body, a tall OLED display and long battery life. Specifications vary by regional model, so treat the cellular and SIM details below as a reference rather than a guarantee for every unit. Sony’s Singapore specification page is one regional source.

Is the Xperia 10 IV still worth buying in 2026?
Only at a price low enough to reflect its age, used-battery risk and expired official security-support period. The narrow 67mm body, 161g weight, headphone jack, microSD slot and OLED screen remain appealing if those features matter more to you than current software support. The phone is less compelling for a main device expected to handle sensitive accounts or serve reliably for years.
Sony’s 2022 European launch price was about €499 / £429. The phone is now chiefly a used or refurbished purchase. A UK Back Market listing showed a refurbished 128GB unit at £249 when checked; that is one marketplace listing, not a current universal price or an endorsement of that price as good value. See Back Market’s listing for the variable offers and conditions.

- Build-in live streaming for videographers and mobile gamers
As a buying rule, compare the total cost—including charger, case, storage card or repairs—with a newer supported phone. If the Xperia 10 IV approaches the price of a newer Xperia 10 model, the newer device is generally the safer long-term purchase.
Design and durability: light and narrow, not truly small
At 161g and 67mm wide, the Xperia 10 IV is easier to hold than many wide phones, though its 6-inch screen means it is not a genuinely small handset. Its tall 21:9 shape suits one-handed grip and gives compatible video a wide cinematic frame, but some content will still show bars or be cropped depending on the app.
Sony lists IPX5/IPX8 water-resistance and IP6X dust-resistance ratings, and the front is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. These ratings do not make the phone waterproof. Seals can weaken after years of use, drops or repairs; do not deliberately submerge a second-hand unit, especially one with uncertain repair history.
Display: sharp OLED, but a 60Hz panel
The 6-inch OLED panel has a 2520 × 1080 resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio. It offers a crisp image and an uninterrupted screen without a notch or camera cutout. Sony specifies 120Hz touch scanning, but the display refresh rate is 60Hz: scrolling and animation are not refreshed at 120 frames per second. The distinction matters if you are used to newer phones with 90Hz or 120Hz panels.
Performance: suited to everyday use
The Snapdragon 695 5G, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage are a mid-range configuration from 2022. They are aimed at everyday communication, browsing and streaming, with moderate rather than demanding gaming. The specifications alone do not establish app responsiveness, sustained gaming performance, heat or how often background apps reload; those depend on software, workload and the condition of the individual phone.
Cameras: three focal lengths, but specifications are not a quality test
The rear array comprises a 12MP f/1.8 main camera (27mm equivalent), an 8MP f/2.2 telephoto camera (54mm equivalent) and an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera (16mm equivalent). The selfie camera is 8MP f/2.0. Sony lists optical image stabilization for still photography, hybrid OIS/EIS video stabilization, HDR, Night shooting, Bokeh, Manual mode, up to 10fps AE burst, 10× hybrid zoom and 720p slow motion at 120fps on its regional specification page.
Those are hardware and software features, not proof of image quality. The specifications do not establish daylight detail, low-light noise, autofocus consistency, telephoto usefulness, ultrawide edge quality, video results or camera-app speed. If camera performance is a deciding factor, check independent sample images and video for the exact model rather than judging from megapixel counts or feature names.
Battery and charging: capacity is not a used-phone guarantee
The battery is rated at 5,000mAh. Sony lists USB Power Delivery, Xperia Adaptive Charging, Battery Care and STAMINA Mode. Its launch material promoted long endurance and said Adaptive Charging was intended to help preserve battery reliability over three years; that launch-era claim does not indicate the health of a four-year-old used unit. Sony’s announcement also said the charger and cable were not included in the original box. No specific charging wattage is established by the cited specifications, so do not assume a particular charging speed.
For a refurbished phone, battery condition is more important than its original capacity rating. Ask whether the seller provides a battery-health assessment, and prefer a return window or warranty. Before paying for a battery, screen or charging-port repair, compare the quote with the cost of a newer phone that still receives security updates.

Headphones, storage and connectivity
The 3.5mm headphone jack, LDAC and aptX Adaptive support, and microSDXC slot are standout practical features. The phone has 128GB of internal storage; Sony Singapore lists microSDXC cards up to 1TB, but card limits and SIM configurations may differ by market. The USB-C port uses USB 2.0, so wired data transfers are not as fast as on devices with newer USB standards.
5G and 4G band support depends on the specific regional model. Sony’s support guide identifies model numbers XQ-CC54 and XQ-CC72 and says eSIM configuration applies to XQ-CC54 only. Before buying an imported or used phone, verify the exact model, your carrier’s LTE and 5G bands, VoLTE support, eSIM needs, unlocked status, blacklist or financing status, and regional warranty. Do not assume that every Xperia 10 IV works on every carrier, particularly in the United States.

The Xperia 10 IV launched with Android 12 and received Android 13 and Android 14. Sony’s software-release page lists Android 14 build 65.2.A.2.137 in March 2024, with a March 1, 2024 security patch. Sony’s Android-version overview lists the Xperia 10 IV’s path as Android 12 → 13 → 14. Sony’s Android Enterprise page gives the model a security-update support end date of June 2025.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat is a manufacturer support end date, not proof that every unit in every market stopped receiving any update on the same day. Update timing can differ by region, carrier and model. It does mean buyers should not count on ongoing Sony firmware security updates. Google Play system updates and an app still working do not amount to continued manufacturer security support.
Check for an available update
- Back up important data before a major update, and connect to Wi-Fi with adequate battery charge.
- When an update notification appears, open the notification panel and tap the system update, then tap UPDATE.
- After download, reopen the notification panel if needed and tap RESTART to install.
- To check the installed build, open Settings → About phone → Build number.
If no update appears, possible causes include carrier or regional rollout timing, low storage or battery, modified/rooted software, or an imported variant with different firmware. Sony’s documented support period has ended, so lack of a newer update may also simply reflect the model’s support status. Unofficial firmware can affect bootloader state, DRM features, app compatibility and security; it is not a routine fix for most owners.
What to check before buying used or refurbished
Request the model number and confirm it against your carrier’s requirements before arranging payment. For a refurb listing, inspect the stated condition and ask what the seller’s warranty and return period cover. A marketplace’s stock, grades and prices change; the Back Market listing is an example of availability, not a guarantee of a particular configuration.
- Ask for battery-health information, or buy with a return period that lets you assess battery life yourself.
- Check the display for burn-in, scratches and dead pixels; test the fingerprint reader, cameras, speakers and headphone jack.
- Inspect the USB-C port and confirm the phone charges and transfers data reliably.
- Confirm that it is unlocked, not blacklisted, and not tied to unpaid financing.
- Verify the model number, regional bands, VoLTE and eSIM configuration, and warranty coverage.
- Ask whether the phone has been opened or repaired. Do not rely on its original IP rating after impact or repair.
- Confirm whether a charger is included; otherwise factor a reputable USB-C PD charger into the total cost.
Should you choose the Xperia 10 VI or 10 VII instead?
For most people who want a Sony phone for several more years, a newer Xperia 10 is a better fit because software support is the Xperia 10 IV’s most consequential weakness. Availability and prices vary by country, and the following details refer to Sony’s published information rather than a universal local offer.

Sony announced the Xperia 10 VII at £399 / €449 in selected European markets, not as a universal price. It adds a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and newer camera hardware.
