The Sony ULT TOWER 7 (model SRS-ULT700) is a large, bass-focused party speaker with mic, instrument and DJ-friendly connections, plus a manufacturer-rated battery life of approximately 30 hours. Its main trade-offs are substantial size and weight, IPX4 splash protection only when upright, and treble that one reviewer found can sound sharp. It may suit parties, karaoke and performance setups better than casual carry-around listening.
What the Sony ULT Tower 7 offers
Sony’s US specifications identify the speaker as the SRS-ULT700. The configuration comprises an approximately 11.02-inch woofer, two approximately 4.72-inch midrange units, two approximately 1.97-inch front tweeters and two rear tweeters. Sony lists Bluetooth 5.3, with SBC, AAC and LDAC codec support, and Stereo Pair and Party Chain speaker-add functions. The sound modes are ULT1, ULT2, FLAT and LIVE, alongside a custom 10-band EQ. Sony lists dimensions of approximately 16.57 × 27.95 × 13.66 inches and a weight of approximately 50.27 lb. The listed transmission range is 20 Hz–20 kHz at a 44.1 kHz sampling rate; that specification should not be mistaken for a measurement of how the speaker performs across the range in a room.

How it sounds in a room
Tom’s Guide reviewer Nikita Achanta praised the ULT Tower 7’s low-end impact and overall scale, and reported that vocals remained distinct during listening. The review describes a wide soundstage, but says the rear presentation was less immersive than the speaker’s 360-degree positioning might lead buyers to expect. Achanta also found some treble over-forward or sharp; the app’s EQ can help adjust that balance. These are one reviewer’s listening impressions, not standardized comparative measurements. Battery life: up to 30 hours, depending on use
Sony lists approximately 30 hours of battery life, and its UK product page calls it “up to 30 hours.” Treat that as a rated maximum, not a promise at every volume or lighting and EQ setting. Sony says the speaker can operate from AC power or its rechargeable battery. Sony UK product page.
Achanta reported four hours of listening at varied levels and presets with 80% battery remaining. That is a reviewer-reported observation, not a controlled endurance test: it does not establish that the speaker will run for a particular number of hours in your setup.

Connections for karaoke, instruments and DJ setups
The official specification lists RCA input, XLR input and output, USB-A, USB-C and a 6.3 mm microphone input. Sony markets the speaker for DJ and microphone use. Together, these connections give hosts more options than Bluetooth alone for connecting a microphone, instrument or other audio equipment, though the right cables and setup depend on the gear being used. The available evidence does not establish a particular microphone or accessory as required.

Sony’s UK page describes handles and wheels, but the US specification puts the speaker at approximately 50.27 lb. Achanta also found it awkward to wheel. The wheels help with repositioning; they do not make a roughly 50-pound speaker easy to carry up stairs or move over uneven ground.

Sony rates the speaker IPX4 when it is placed vertically. That means splash protection in that specified orientation—not waterproofing, dust protection or a guarantee of safe use in heavy rain. Keep the speaker upright and away from exposure beyond its rating.

The ULT Tower 7 makes most sense if you want powerful bass, a large sound for gatherings, and wired inputs for karaoke or performance use. It is a less natural fit if your priorities are easy portability, dust protection, or an especially smooth treble balance. The review’s characterization of it as a mid-range party speaker is a buying-context judgment, not evidence that it is the best Bluetooth speaker overall.
