Why memory costs are influencing the decision
Sony said rising memory prices increase both bill-of-materials expenses and manufacturing costs. Rather than commit to a date and price while those conditions remain unsettled, it is weighing several responses.
- Reducing hardware costs before launch.

Could the PS6 launch in 2027?

What Project Canis is—and is not
Project Canis is a reported codename for a possible handheld companion to a future PlayStation platform. Sony has not announced a product using that name, confirmed that it exists, or described a release plan.
Reported specifications remain unauthenticated
Online reports have circulated alleged custom-processor and graphics information. Those details have not been authenticated by Sony, so they cannot be treated as specifications. There is currently no confirmed screen, performance target, storage configuration, operating system, battery capacity or compatibility list for a Canis device.
