Sony’s Japan notice says applicants must meet all listed conditions. The playtime threshold is cumulative: hours on PS4, PS5, or both can count toward 60. The applicant must have been signed into the same Sony account used for the application during the qualifying period.

Application dates and selection
Sony’s application schedule is based on Japan local time:
- Applications close: October 7, 2026, at 23:59.
- Expected start of notifications: around October 26, 2026.
- Purchase deadline for selected applicants: November 2, 2026, at 11:59.
Meeting the eligibility conditions does not guarantee a console. Sony says it will use a lottery if eligible applications exceed the planned number of units. The notice does not state how many units are available.
Does the rule apply at every Japanese retailer?
No universal retailer requirement is established by Sony’s notice. The 60-hour condition applies to the Sony Store Japan application described there. Other sellers may have separate purchase processes, but their current stock, eligibility rules, and availability are not established by this notice. Check each retailer’s own listing and terms rather than assuming Sony Store’s rule applies everywhere.
