Is the PS-LX3BT a good first turntable?
It is designed for straightforward setup and everyday playback rather than extensive manual adjustment. The PS-LX3BT is fully automatic: it starts and returns the tonearm for you, and electronic speed selection supports both 33⅓ and 45 rpm records. Sony says, “With full-auto operation, there’s no need to cue the arm or lift it when playing a record.”

- TRANSPARENT DUST COVER: Showcase your vinyl collection with a clear dust cover that protects your turntable without hiding your favorite records.
What Hi-Fi? rated it five stars in its April review and praised its sound and usability. Its deal report described it as one of the best budget Bluetooth turntables. That is What Hi-Fi?’s assessment, not a guarantee of performance in every setup. The publication quoted its review: “We’re taken with just how composed, controlled and well-organised the Sony sounds, marvelling at the effortless cohesion and solidity it brings to the entirety of Michael Jackson’s Bad album.”
Bluetooth, wired audio and phono EQ
The turntable can send audio over Bluetooth or connect by wire. Sony’s product page describes one-step Bluetooth connection and built-in Phono EQ, which supports phono and line output. That gives buyers options for wireless playback or a wired setup; check the requirements of the device you plan to connect. Sony notes that Bluetooth compatibility varies by device.

The review lists aptX Adaptive support. To use that codec, the receiving Bluetooth speaker or other playback device must also be compatible; otherwise, the connection uses a supported alternative. The review lists no USB, so this is not the choice for someone who wants to digitize records over a USB connection.
What to know about upgrades and sound-focused alternatives
What Hi-Fi?’s review flags limited cartridge-upgrade potential. It also says purist alternatives have an edge in performance. In practice, the PS-LX3BT’s appeal is its combination of automation, wireless playback and a built-in phono stage—not maximum scope for tuning or upgrading. If those latter priorities matter more than convenience, compare manual turntables and their phono requirements before choosing.

The PS-LX3BT is the newer model; the PS-LX310BT is its predecessor. What Hi-Fi? describes the newer turntable as building on the earlier model. The available deal report and review establish that relationship, but do not provide a complete side-by-side specification or performance comparison, so do not assume every feature or result is identical—or different—without checking the specifications for both models.
