The Sony K-65S20M2 is a 65-inch class 4K HDR LCD Google TV from Sony’s 2025 BRAVIA 2 II line. On paper it is a sensible living-room set with one clear gaming limit: its native refresh rate is 60 Hz, and Sony does not list variable refresh rate (VRR). This review is built on Sony’s published specifications and product listings. No independent lab measurements or hands-on test results for this exact model are available to us, so nothing below describes how the picture actually looks in a room.

What Sony publishes for the K-65S20M2

Sony sells the set as the BRAVIA 2 II 65-inch class 4K HDR LED Google TV (2025), model K-65S20M2. Its product page title also adds “with Gemini.” The specification sheet does not explain what that adds beyond the Google Assistant access the product page describes, so do not assume extra AI features without checking Sony’s documentation. The table below uses Sony’s listed values as published on its US support specification page and product page.

Source for these values: Sony’s K-65S20M2 specifications page on Sony USA Support and the Sony Electronics product page for the K-65S20M2. Treat all of them as manufacturer claims.

Picture quality: what the listing can and cannot tell you

The listing supports HDR10 and HLG. It does not list Dolby Vision, so if your streaming library or disc player depends on Dolby Vision, plan around that gap. Sony’s pages also use evaluative language such as “rich color and detail” for the 4K Processor X1. That is Sony’s own description, not an independent finding.

Sony does not publish measured peak brightness, contrast, color volume, reflection handling, or viewing-angle performance for this model in the sources we checked. Those numbers decide how a 60 Hz LCD with direct LED backlight handles a bright room or dark HDR scenes, so the picture verdict has to wait for independent measurements that do not yet exist for this model.

The Motionflow XR 240 label is a motion-processing name, not a refresh-rate spec. Sony pairs it with a native 60 Hz panel, so read it as a processing claim and not as proof of 240 Hz motion.

Gaming and PlayStation 5 fit

The gaming picture is simple. The TV is a 60 Hz set with the gaming features Sony lists, and it lacks the features that define a high-refresh gaming display.

Refresh rate and VRR

Sony lists a native 60 Hz refresh rate and does not list VRR. Do not treat this model as a 120 Hz or variable-refresh gaming TV. If your buying priority is smoother motion in fast games, shop with that limit in mind.

Sony’s specification sheet has a “Features specified in HDMI2.1” field, but it names eARC and ALLM. Do not read that label as full HDMI 2.1 gaming bandwidth, and do not infer 4K at 120 Hz from it.

PS5 picture features

Sony lists two PlayStation 5 picture features: Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode. It also lists ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). Sony’s marketing FAQ describes the TV as suitable for PS5. Those features make it a reasonable match for a console that runs at 4K with a 60 Hz output, but the listing does not establish measured input lag. If low latency is critical for your games, you will need independent testing that does not yet exist for this model.

Connections: what to plug in where

The set has four HDMI inputs, with eARC/ARC support, and two side USB ports. Sony’s listings do not say which HDMI input carries eARC, so check the label printed on the rear panel before you connect a soundbar or receiver.

  • Soundbar or AV receiver: Use the eARC/ARC-labeled HDMI input. Sony’s product page describes Dolby Atmos pass-through over HDMI to a compatible soundbar or receiver.
  • PS5 and other game consoles: Use an HDMI input that lets you enable the ALLM setting. The console’s own output settings still determine the resolution and refresh rate the TV receives.
  • Cables: Sony’s listings do not call for a special HDMI cable. Use a certified high-speed cable rated for the resolution and frame rate you plan to run.
  • Phones and tablets: Casting works over Wi-Fi through AirPlay or Google Cast, so no cable is needed.

Smart platform and casting

The TV runs Google TV with the Google Play Store and voice search. Sony lists Google Assistant on the product page. It also supports Apple AirPlay, Google Cast (Chromecast built-in), and Apple HomeKit. If you use an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, AirPlay is the most direct route. Android phones and Chrome tabs work with Google Cast. Which streaming apps you can install depends on the apps’ own availability and regional rules, so confirm those separately before you buy.

Built-in sound and the soundbar question

The built-in speakers are rated 10 W + 10 W. That rating is a power figure, not a measure of sound quality, and Sony’s listings do not establish how the speakers sound. Format support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and other DTS formats means the TV can decode those formats, but it does not mean the internal speakers reproduce them in a room-filling way. Plan for an external soundbar or receiver if audio quality matters to you. Sony’s product page also advertises a soundbar bundle, so check which soundbar models are eligible if that is part of your budget.

Size, stand, and wall-mount checks

The dimensions below come from Sony’s specification page. The stand is the number to check first if you plan to place the TV on a console or media unit.

Measurement With stand Without stand
Width 57 inches 57 inches
Height 35.63 inches 33.38 inches
Depth 12.88 inches 3.38 inches
Weight 44.1 lb 43.4 lb
Outside width of stand feet 47 inches Not applicable
VESA hole pattern 300 × 300 mm 300 × 300 mm

Before you buy a stand-mounted setup, measure your furniture and confirm it is wider than 47 inches and can take the TV’s weight. For wall mounting, buy a mount that lists a 300 × 300 mm VESA pattern and a weight rating comfortably above 43.4 lb, and check the mount’s own fit instructions before drilling or lifting the set.

Price and promotions

Sony’s US product page has displayed $699.99 alongside a soundbar bundle discount. Both figures are time-sensitive. Check the current price, eligible soundbar models, promotion terms, delivery conditions, and availability on Sony’s site before you buy. We have not established a street price, retailer availability, or how the set’s value compares with competing 65-inch TVs.

Who this TV suits, and who should look elsewhere

On specifications alone, the K-65S20M2 is a reasonable 65-inch 4K Google TV for a mainstream living room with casual PlayStation 5 use. It is not a gaming-spec display, and its picture quality can’t be ranked against rivals from these listings.

  • Consider it if you want a 65-inch 4K Google TV with AirPlay and Google Cast, you play mostly at 60 Hz, and you plan to add a soundbar.
  • Look elsewhere if you need VRR or 120 Hz gaming, Dolby Vision support, or confirmed measured brightness for a bright room.
  • Check fit first if you plan a stand-based setup in a narrow cabinet or a wall mount with a non-300 × 300 mm pattern.
