The Sony K-55XR80M2 is the 55-inch US model of Sony’s 2025 BRAVIA 8 II OLED 4K Google TV. Its specification sheet confirms a 120 Hz panel, Dolby Vision support, and HDMI features including 4K120 and VRR. Those facts make it a capable-looking option for movies and modern consoles, but they do not establish brightness, input lag, picture accuracy, or sound quality. The available independent review listing identifies a hands-on comparison but does not publish numerical results or full conclusions, so this is a feature-led review rather than a measured performance verdict.
What is the Sony K-55XR80M2?
Sony identifies the K-55XR80M2 as a 55-inch OLED television in its 2025 BRAVIA 8 II (XR80) range. The US specification sheet lists a 3840 × 2160 resolution, 120 Hz panel refresh rate, and XR Processor. Sony’s panel and format specifications describe compatibility and design; they are not independent measurements of picture performance.

The model name and included items can vary by market. Sony’s US listing specifies remote RMF-TX820U, so buyers elsewhere should check their regional product page rather than assume the same remote or package contents.

Sony lists HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision compatibility. That gives buyers the format information, but it does not tell them how bright HDR highlights get, how the TV maps difficult scenes, or how accurately it reproduces color. The specification page provides no measured brightness or color results.

HDTVTest’s review listing, dated July 18, 2025, identifies its sample as the 55-inch K55XR80M2 and says picture quality was compared with the A95L and Panasonic Z95B, with a Sony BVM-HX3110 mastering monitor as a reference. The listing does not provide numerical test results or the reviewer’s full spoken conclusions. It therefore cannot substantiate a specific brightness figure, color-accuracy result, reflection-handling assessment, uniformity finding, or win over either comparison set.
For a buying decision, those unanswered performance questions matter as much as format support. In particular, room brightness and reflections, near-black detail, motion, and HDR tone mapping should be judged from verified testing or an in-person demonstration—not inferred from the OLED label or the supported formats.

Gaming features and HDMI
Sony lists HDMI features under HDMI 2.1 as 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM, and SBTM; the model’s supported signal list includes up to 3840 × 2160 at 120 Hz. These are useful compatibility features for current consoles and PCs. They do not establish input lag, the image quality of a particular game mode, or how consistently variable refresh works in every setup.

Built-in audio and soundbar options
The set uses Sony’s Acoustic Surface Audio+ system, with two actuators and two subwoofers. Sony lists output as 15 W + 15 W + 10 W + 10 W, Dolby Atmos support, and Acoustic Center Sync for use with a compatible Sony soundbar. These are manufacturer specifications, not evidence of perceived loudness, dialogue clarity, bass depth, or sound quality in a room.
The TV already has built-in speakers, so a soundbar is an optional addition rather than a prerequisite established by the specifications. If you want to use Acoustic Center Sync, confirm that the particular Sony soundbar supports it; compatibility should not be assumed for every model.

Smart TV, wireless, and device connectivity
Sony lists Google TV, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, AirPlay, and Chromecast built-in. These features cover common streaming, casting, and wireless-device needs, but the specification listing does not establish network performance in a particular home or the availability of every app in every country.
Size, stand, and wall mounting
Sony lists a 54.6-inch measured diagonal. Without the stand, the TV measures 48.19 × 27.83 × 1.34 inches; Sony gives the outside stand width as 48.25 inches. The stand has two positions, including an outside position intended to leave room for a soundbar.

The listed VESA hole pitch is 300 × 300 mm. That measurement alone does not confirm that a given bracket will fit or be suitable for your wall. Check the television’s manual and the mount’s supported pattern, weight rating, wall type, and clearance requirements before installation. Sony’s manuals page includes wall-mount documents and guides for its SU-WL905 and SU-WL855 brackets; availability and fit should be verified for the buyer’s market.

Sony’s support listings show different firmware entries by region: the US page lists North America version 114.602.080.1 dated June 23, 2026, while the Japan page surfaced version 114.603.100.1 dated September 15, 2026. These are regional listings, not one global update version. Select your country or region and exact model on Sony’s K-55XR80M2 support page before checking for or installing an update.
Should you buy the Sony K-55XR80M2?
The published specifications make the K-55XR80M2 a plausible shortlist choice if you want a 55-inch OLED with Dolby Vision, 120 Hz, and listed 4K120 and VRR support, alongside Google TV and Sony’s built-in audio system. Whether it is worth the price in your market depends on performance and competing prices that the cited material does not establish.

Before buying, look for verified measurements or a full review that tests HDR and SDR brightness, tone mapping, color accuracy, near-black handling, reflections, motion, gaming latency, and audio. Compare those results with alternatives at the actual prices available to you. Sony’s format and connectivity list is useful for confirming feature fit, but it cannot settle picture-quality or value questions by itself.
