What Hi-Fi? reported on 5 October 2026 that the Sony BRAVIA Theatre Trio was on sale for £1,799 at Peter Tyson, with a potential £200 Sony cashback claim bringing the effective cost to £1,599. That report does not confirm the offer is still available on 7 October, and the cashback terms have not been independently established here. The price is not an Amazon deal.
What is the BRAVIA Theatre Trio?
Unlike a conventional all-in-one soundbar, the Trio divides the front soundstage among three pieces: a slim centre soundbar and separate cylindrical left and right speakers. What Hi-Fi?’s review describes a wider, more spacious presentation than a conventional bar, with Dolby Atmos adding a convincing impression of height. Those are the publication’s listening judgments, not a new hands-on assessment.

Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping is designed to add scale by creating up to 24 virtual “phantom” speakers around the room, according to What Hi-Fi?’s deal report. Sony’s product information also identifies the Trio and this spatial-mapping feature: Sony’s UK sound-bar product category.

What are the drawbacks?
- There is no display, so the system offers less at-a-glance feedback than designs with a front-panel screen.
- The centre speaker is less capable than the larger satellite speakers, according to What Hi-Fi?’s review.
Is the Sony Theatre Trio worth buying?
It is most compelling if you have a large TV and want a spacious, immersive front soundstage without moving to a broader multi-speaker surround setup. The separate left and right units are the key distinction from a single-bar system; the reported strengths include a broad stereo image, Atmos height effects, and dialogue that remains anchored to the screen.
Before buying, compare the total price after any confirmed cashback with premium single-bar options such as the Sonos Arc Ultra or Sony BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9, and fuller systems such as the Samsung HW-Q990H or Sony BRAVIA Theatre Quad. What Hi-Fi?’s June 2026 review also lists the KEF XIO among comparison options. These systems differ in physical layout, room fit, connectivity and cost, so there is no basis to treat the Trio as universally superior.
