For standard 4K at 24–60 frames per second, Sony lists HDMI 1–4 as supported on the model groups in its recent port tables. For 4K at 100 or 120 frames per second, compatible BRAVIA TVs generally require HDMI 3 or HDMI 4. The exact answer depends on your TV’s full model number and the signal you want to use.
Which BRAVIA HDMI port supports your 4K signal?
“4K” covers more than one signal type. A 4K movie or video at 24–60 frames per second can have different port requirements from 4K gaming or video at 100/120 frames per second.

| Desired signal | Port guidance | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 4K at 24p, 25p, 30p, 50p, or 60p | Sony lists HDMI 1–4 for the model groups covered by its recent tables. | Confirm the exact model and select the supported HDMI signal format for that input. |
| 4K at 100p or 120p | On compatible BRAVIA models, HDMI 3 or HDMI 4 is generally used. | Confirm that the specific TV supports 4K100/120 and check Sony’s port table for the model. |
Sony’s tables for listed 2023, 2024, and 2025 model groups distinguish standard 4K from higher-frame-rate 4K. Some models in those groups do not support 4K120 at all. Do not treat the model-year guidance as universal across every BRAVIA or region; use Sony’s HDMI terminal support table for the complete model number.

How to find the right port and enable 4K120
- Find the complete TV model number. Check the label on the TV or the model information in its system settings.
- Look up the model in Sony’s port table. Check the row for the exact series and distinguish 4K 24p–60p from 4K 100p/120p.
- Connect the source to the listed input. For a compatible 4K120 model, this is commonly HDMI 3 or HDMI 4; follow the model-specific table rather than assuming.
- Set the HDMI signal format for that input. Open the TV’s HDMI signal format setting and choose the Enhanced option Sony documents for the model and connected device. Sony’s 4K 120Hz setup instructions give the relevant directions; menu paths and option names vary by TV.
- Use the matching HDMI cable. Sony specifies Premium High-Speed HDMI for the cited 18Gbps Enhanced format 4K mode and Ultra High-Speed HDMI for some signals at 18Gbps or above. Check the requirement for your signal in Sony’s 4K picture troubleshooting guidance.
Do not select a Dolby Vision, VRR, 4K120, or Advanced option simply because its name sounds appropriate. Use the format Sony documents for your specific TV and source.

If the 4K picture does not appear correctly
- Check the port first. A cable cannot make an incompatible HDMI input support 4K120. Confirm the TV’s port capability and that the model supports the requested signal.
- Check the input’s signal format. Verify that the connected input is set to the supported Enhanced format; labels and menu paths differ between models.
- Check the source output. Confirm that the console, computer, or other device is actually set to output the resolution and frame rate the TV is expected to receive.
- Check the cable against the signal bandwidth. Use the cable class Sony specifies; do not assume every cable supports every 4K mode.
- Use model-specific troubleshooting. Older BRAVIA and 8K series can have different port arrangements, and Sony notes model-specific exceptions. Its HDMI 2.1 feature compatibility page can help establish whether a recent model supports features such as 4K120.
