Sony BRAVIA 3 II vs Hisense U6SF Pro: Which TV Should You Buy?

The Hisense U6SF Pro is the stronger choice for most shoppers who prioritize HDR brightness, local dimming, or high-refresh-rate gaming. Tom’s Guide scored it 87/100, narrowly ahead of the Sony BRAVIA 3 II at 85/100. That two-point edge reflects Tom’s Guide’s scoring rubric, not a universal ranking. Sony may be the better fit if you want Google TV, a 43- or 50-inch model, or four HDMI 2.1 ports.

This comparison draws on Tom’s Guide’s published head-to-head measurements and separate U6SF Pro review; it does not establish that one reviewer put both TVs through the same full review protocol. Results and prices below are attributed to their sources.

How the Sony BRAVIA 3 II and Hisense U6SF Pro compare

The main distinction is backlight performance: Tom’s Guide measured substantially higher 10% HDR brightness on its Hisense sample, while the U6SF Pro’s Mini-LED local dimming offers more control over contrast. Sony counters with Google TV, smaller screen options, and four HDMI 2.1 inputs.

Tom’s Guide says the comparison measurements were taken in the TVs’ most accurate picture modes: Professional for Sony and Filmmaker for Hisense. The listed brightness figures are publisher test results, not guarantees for every unit, picture mode, or viewing condition. The comparison also reports Delta-E color accuracy of 2.1 for Sony and 1.6 for Hisense, UHDA-P3 coverage of 94.62% and 96.1%, and Rec.2020 coverage of 74.06% and 75.12%, respectively. Tom’s Guide’s side-by-side comparison provides the full test table and scoring.

Which TV is brighter for HDR?

The Hisense has the clearer advantage in Tom’s Guide’s HDR brightness test. The comparison measured 1,265 nits at a 10% HDR window for the U6SF Pro and 520 nits for the BRAVIA 3 II. A separate Tom’s Guide review of a 65-inch Hisense sample also measured 1,265 nits at a 10% HDR window. These are lab measurements under specified test conditions, not a promise that every scene or setting will reach those levels.

Hisense: brighter highlights and Mini-LED dimming

The U6SF Pro’s Mini-LED backlight and local dimming help it control contrast across different areas of the image. Tom’s Guide describes the dimming as tighter contrast control, while noting occasional blooming in difficult high-contrast scenes—bright objects can produce a visible halo against a dark background. The higher measured brightness makes the Hisense the better-supported option for shoppers prioritizing punchy HDR, bright-room viewing, or sports.

Sony: lower measured HDR brightness

The BRAVIA 3 II’s 520-nit result is well below the Hisense’s result in this comparison. That does not by itself establish how either TV will look in every room or with every program, but shoppers whose first priority is bright HDR have stronger evidence in favor of the U6SF Pro.

Which TV is better for gaming?

The answer depends on refresh rate and how many high-bandwidth devices you connect. Tom’s Guide lists the Hisense at 144Hz, with VRR, ALLM, and FreeSync Premium Pro reported in its review. It lists Sony at 120Hz. If you want the higher listed refresh rate, the Hisense has the edge; if you need more HDMI 2.1 connections available at once, Sony has the advantage.

Count your HDMI 2.1 devices

The comparison lists four HDMI 2.1 ports on Sony and two HDMI 2.1 plus two HDMI 2.0 ports on Hisense. Before choosing, count the devices you expect to keep connected that need HDMI 2.1, such as a console or gaming PC. A port count alone does not establish every port’s individual feature support, so check the relevant model documentation for a particular setup.

Hisense input-lag result

In its separate review of a 65-inch U6SF Pro sample, Tom’s Guide measured 9.3 ms input latency using a Leo Bodnar input-lag tester. That is a review-specific lab result, not a universal measurement for every size or configuration. The review’s test setup also included a Jeti spectroradiometer, Klein colorimeter, Murideo pattern generator, and Calman software.

Google TV or Fire TV, and which sizes are available?

Choose based on the interface you prefer and the size you need. Sony uses Google TV and is listed in 43-, 50-, 55-, 65-, 75-, 85-, and 100-inch sizes. Hisense uses Fire TV and is listed in 55-, 65-, 75-, 85-, and 100-inch sizes. If you want a 43- or 50-inch TV, the Sony is the only one of these two with a listed option at that size.

It also records sale snapshots during its review period of $547, $597, $797, $1,099, and $2,497, respectively. The review says the series launched in March 2026.
  • Sony BRAVIA 3 II: Sony’s 65-inch product page displayed $799.99, reduced from $899.99, when accessed in 2026. That page price is volatile and does not establish prices for other sizes.

Compare the current price for the size you actually want, rather than treating a launch price or past sale as a reliable value benchmark. Sony’s product listing is the source for its displayed offer; Tom’s Guide’s U6SF Pro review records the Hisense launch prices and sale snapshots.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the Hisense U6SF Pro if

  • HDR brightness, bright-room viewing, or Mini-LED local dimming is a priority.
  • You want the higher listed refresh rate of 144Hz and gaming features reported in the review.
  • You are satisfied with two HDMI 2.1 ports and the Fire TV platform.
  • Its current price is attractive for the screen size you need.

Choose the Sony BRAVIA 3 II if

  • You prefer Google TV.
  • You need a 43- or 50-inch screen.
  • You want four HDMI 2.1 ports for devices that need them.

For a wall installation, verify the exact TV’s VESA pattern, weight limit, and screen-size compatibility before buying a mount. Tom’s Guide reports a 400 × 300 mm VESA pattern for its 65-inch U6SF Pro sample; do not assume that dimension applies to every size. The same review describes the Hisense’s built-in 2.1-channel, 40-watt audio as capable for casual viewing. A soundbar or surround system is an optional home-theater upgrade, not a requirement.
