The announced overseas price is $7,000, before customs duties, taxes and shipping. As of October 3, 2026, the announced sales had not yet opened: the online lottery was scheduled to begin October 9, and five pieces were slated for sale at an exhibition in Tokyo.
What the $7,000 Sonic figure is
“Infinite Blue” is a sculptural Sonic the Hedgehog figure made from Arita porcelain. YOYOYO announced it for Sonic’s 35th anniversary and credits SEGA. Each piece is to be numbered, with a planned worldwide edition of 50, according to the October 2, 2026 announcement from 株式会社マルキュウ.

The listed dimensions are 15.6 cm wide, 22.8 cm deep and 21.3 cm high. The set includes the figure, a base, a certificate and a wooden box. It is a porcelain art collectible rather than an ordinary mass-market Sonic figure: its material, hand-finished process and very small announced edition are central to the product.
Price and what it does—and does not—include
| Market | Announced price | Included or excluded costs |
|---|---|---|
| Overseas | US$7,000 | Customs duties, taxes and shipping are additional, according to the announcement. |
| Japan | ¥1,000,000 | Tax and domestic shipping are included, according to the announcement. |
The overseas figure is the announced selling price, not a confirmed resale value or a claim that all 50 pieces have sold. The final amount for an overseas buyer will depend on applicable import charges and shipping. The announcement lists Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, EU member countries, Switzerland and Norway as shipping destinations; buyers elsewhere are advised to inquire. That published list does not guarantee eligibility under checkout terms when ordering opens.

How the porcelain is made
The company credits 224porcelain with shaping the work and Li-Sho Kiln (李荘窯) with painting and finishing. Its account describes combining Hizen Yoshida ware tradition with digital modeling and mold-making. The sculptural shape required repeated adjustments to digital data and molds, as well as firing tests; the release says development took about eight months. Thin, extended porcelain forms can warp or crack during firing, making the form a technical challenge as well as a design choice.
The blue uses gosu (呉須), a cobalt underglaze pigment. The maker says the decoration includes shippo (interlocking circles), seigaiha (waves) and yagasuri (arrow-feather pattern), with red overglaze used for Sonic’s motion trail. These are the maker’s descriptions of the design and its symbolism.

The firmest scarcity claim is the planned edition size: 50 numbered pieces worldwide. The announcement does not show that 50 have already been made, that they have sold, or what they might fetch second-hand. It also describes Arita ware’s lineage as around 400 years old; that is the company’s framing of the craft tradition, not a separate valuation or production audit.
