Choose Digital Deluxe if you want the Season Pass and its crossover content in one purchase. Nintendo Switch 2 buyers have a third consideration: a dedicated physical edition launches March 26, 2026, with a conditional early-purchase Werehog Pack download code. Your best choice depends on console, format preference, desired downloadable content, and the current price in your country.

At a glance: the practical recommendation
| Edition | What is established | Best for | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physical Standard Edition | Base game on a physical release. SEGA’s purchase guide also describes an early-purchase Werehog bonus for the physical listing. | Players who want a boxed copy, collection item, or physical-game ownership and do not need the Season Pass bundle. | Console version, local stock, current retailer price, and whether the early-purchase bonus is still included. |
| Digital Standard Edition | Base game as a download. SEGA announced digital Standard Editions for the listed platforms. | Players who want the base game immediately without a cartridge or disc. | Current store price, account region, storage space, and the exact platform listing. |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | Base game plus Season Pass. The pass covers the Sonic Prime Character Pack and six content packs; SEGA says content and release dates can change. | Players who already want the crossover characters and downloadable content, and prefer an all-digital purchase. | Whether the Season Pass content you want is released, the current bundle price, and whether buying packs separately would cost less for your use. |
| Switch Digital Deluxe plus Switch 2 Upgrade Pack | SEGA describes this as a discounted route to the Switch 2 Edition and Season Pass for eligible Switch owners. | Existing Switch owners moving to Switch 2 who want both the newer version and the Season Pass. | Current Nintendo eShop terms, upgrade price, save-data handling, and account eligibility. |
There is no evidence that a physical copy universally costs less than a digital copy, and a physical copy should not be assumed to include the Season Pass. Treat the store or retailer’s exact product description as the authority for your region.

What launched, and which platforms are involved?
SEGA announced Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The original launch date was September 25, 2025. Nintendo Switch 2 followed as a separate hardware consideration, with SEGA later announcing a Switch 2 physical edition for March 26, 2026. See the June 9, 2025 SEGA launch announcement and the January 13, 2026 Switch 2 announcement for the platform and release history.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That date distinction matters when you see old listings. A Nintendo Switch cartridge, a Switch 2 physical product, and a digital listing for another console are not interchangeable products even when their names look similar. Confirm the platform logo and edition name immediately before checkout.
Physical Standard Edition: what you get
The physical Standard Edition is the straightforward base-game purchase. SEGA’s purchase guide separates it from Digital Deluxe and presents the physical product as the base game rather than as a Season Pass bundle. That makes it the natural choice for someone who wants the core racing game in a boxed format and is not buying specifically for the additional crossover content.
Physical ownership can also fit practical preferences: you may want a shelf copy, the ability to lend the game, or the option to resell it where local rules and retailer policies allow. Those are format preferences, not guarantees of a lower total cost. Compare the actual local price, shipping, taxes, and any later downloadable-content purchases rather than assuming physical is the bargain option.
The Werehog bonus is conditional
SEGA’s guide associates an early-purchase Werehog bonus with the physical Standard Edition. For the Switch 2 physical release, SEGA states: “The physical edition will include a download code for the Werehog Pack as an early purchase bonus.” The announcement is dated January 13, 2026, and the bonus is therefore time- and retailer-dependent; it should not be treated as guaranteed in every current box.

Before buying, inspect the retailer’s listing for explicit wording such as “early-purchase bonus,” a stated end date, or a note that codes are supplied while stocks last. If the listing does not mention the code, ask the retailer or choose a listing whose included contents are unambiguous. Do not pay a premium for a bonus that the seller has not confirmed.
Digital Standard Edition: the clean base-game option
The Digital Standard Edition contains the base game and is intended for buyers who do not need a physical copy. It avoids waiting for shipping and lets the game remain associated with your platform account, but it does not become Digital Deluxe simply because it is downloaded. The edition label is decisive: Standard is the base game; Deluxe is the base game plus Season Pass.
Digital purchases are tied to the account and store region that completes the transaction. Check that you are signed into the account you will use to play, especially on a shared console, and verify the platform before confirming payment. Prices, taxes, discounts, and refund rules are controlled by the local platform store and can change independently of SEGA’s announcement prices.

Digital Deluxe is the content-focused choice. SEGA describes it as the base game plus Season Pass. The launch announcement identifies Season Pass content including the Sonic Prime racers Nine, Rusty, and Dread and six downloadable-content waves. Nintendo’s US listing describes the bundle as including the base game, the Sonic Prime Character Pack, and six content packs. The official listings also warn, in substance, that content and release dates may change.

That makes Deluxe most sensible when you already know you want the crossover material or when the bundle’s current price is clearly better than buying the base game and desired packs separately. It is not automatically better value for a player interested only in the launch roster. If a particular pack has not released yet, verify what the pass promises and how future content will be delivered on your platform.
What “Season Pass” does not tell you
The label does not, by itself, establish an individual pack’s release date, final content, or whether every future item is already available. Use the current platform listing for the latest description. The US Nintendo page is available at Nintendo’s Digital Deluxe listing; the page can change, so read its current inclusions and price rather than relying on an old screenshot or search snippet.
Nintendo Switch 2: the separate physical release and upgrade path
SEGA announced a Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition for March 26, 2026. Its announcement says the physical edition includes the full base game and a Werehog Pack download code as an early-purchase bonus, subject to the terms of the purchase. It also states that the game’s content does not differ from other platforms, that saved data can transfer from the Switch version, and that using the Switch 2 version on a Switch console matches Switch-version features and performance.
The same announcement describes Switch Digital Deluxe plus the Switch 2 Upgrade Pack as a discounted way to obtain the Switch 2 Edition and Season Pass. This is not a universal price promise: the availability, price, account requirements, and exact upgrade terms are determined by the current Nintendo store. If you own the original Switch version, open the live listing for the Upgrade Pack and confirm whether your edition qualifies before assuming you can upgrade.

How to choose between a Switch 2 cartridge and an upgrade
- Choose the Switch 2 physical edition if you want a new boxed copy and the retailer confirms the correct Switch 2 product and any remaining Werehog code.
- Choose Switch Digital Deluxe plus Upgrade Pack if your existing digital purchase is eligible and you want to retain the digital library while obtaining the Switch 2 Edition and Season Pass through the described discounted route.
- Recheck save handling before switching systems. SEGA says saved data can transfer, but follow Nintendo’s current transfer instructions and make sure the save belongs to the account you are using.
Current prices: how to interpret the published numbers
SEGA’s launch announcement listed Japanese, tax-inclusive prices in 2025. These are historical launch figures for Japan, not current universal prices and not a conversion guide for another country.
| Edition | Platforms covered by the Japanese launch figure | Launch price including Japanese tax |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC | ¥7,990 |
| Standard Edition | Nintendo Switch | ¥6,990 |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC | ¥8,990 |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | Nintendo Switch | ¥7,990 |
The source for these figures is SEGA’s June 9, 2025 announcement. Do not present ¥7,990 or ¥8,990 as the price a reader should expect today in the United States, Europe, or any other market. Currency, tax treatment, discounts, and platform pricing differ. Nintendo’s US page has shown individual downloadable-content listings, including $5.99 prices for some packs at the time represented by that page, but those prices must be checked again before publication or purchase.
A reliable local-price comparison
- Open the official store for your console or PC account and select the exact platform edition.
- Record the displayed total after local tax, not an old advertised price or a converted Japanese figure.
- For Deluxe, compare the bundle against the Standard price plus only the Season Pass or packs you actually want.
- For a physical copy, add shipping and check whether the listing includes the bonus code and the correct hardware version.
- For Switch 2, compare the price of a new physical edition with the eligible Switch Digital Deluxe plus Upgrade Pack route.
Which format fits your priorities?
Buy physical Standard when ownership format matters most
Select physical Standard when you prefer a cartridge or disc, collect boxed games, or want a copy that is not solely a digital entitlement. It is also the clearest choice when the base game is all you want. Verify that the box is for your console generation and that any advertised Werehog bonus is still eligible at that retailer.

Digital Standard suits players who want the base game without waiting for delivery or storing a physical case. It is the least complicated digital purchase when you do not want the Season Pass. Make sure your console has enough storage and that the account buying the game is the one that will access it.

Buy Digital Deluxe when you will use the pass
Digital Deluxe is the targeted recommendation for Season Pass buyers. Nine, Rusty, Dread, the Sonic Prime Character Pack, and six content waves are the reason to choose it—not merely the word “Deluxe.” If you would never use crossover racers or additional packs, Standard avoids paying for content you do not need.
Use the Switch upgrade route when you already own Switch
For an existing Switch owner moving to Switch 2, the Upgrade Pack route may combine the new version and Season Pass at a discount, according to SEGA’s announcement. Confirm the live offer and eligibility first; a physical Switch owner and a digital Switch owner may encounter different store requirements.
Multiplayer and accessories
Nintendo’s US listing states that the Switch version supports one to four players on one system, two to eight through local wireless, and two to twelve online. Those modes can affect your format decision: a household that regularly plays together may value quick access on the primary console, while a collector may still prefer physical ownership.

Five-minute purchase checklist
- Platform: Is the listing for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, or Nintendo Switch 2?
- Edition: Does the title say Standard or Digital Deluxe?
- Content: Is the Season Pass explicitly included, or is this only the base game?
- Bonus: Does the exact retailer listing confirm the Werehog Pack code and its early-purchase conditions?
- Price: Is the displayed total current, local, and tax-inclusive where applicable?
- Upgrade: If moving from Switch to Switch 2, is your existing edition eligible for the Upgrade Pack?
- Account: Will the purchasing account be the one used to play and access digital content?
- Save data: If changing Switch hardware, have you checked the current transfer process?
Bottom line for each type of buyer
For a boxed-game enthusiast who wants the base game, buy the physical Standard Edition after confirming platform, stock, price, and any bonus-code terms. For a player who wants Sonic Prime characters and the six content waves, buy Digital Deluxe. For a Switch 2 owner deciding between formats, compare the March 26, 2026 physical edition with the current Switch Digital Deluxe plus Upgrade Pack offer. No single edition wins on price everywhere, so let the live local listing—not the historical Japanese launch figures—make the final call.
