Standard is the base game. The original Digital Deluxe Edition adds the first Season Pass, while the newer Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition adds Season Pass Two instead—and does not include the first pass. Switch 2 buyers also need to distinguish the Nintendo Switch game from the separate Switch 2 Upgrade Pack.
Edition contents at a glance
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is sold in several combinations of the same base game and different downloadable-content passes. The word “Deluxe” is not enough to identify what you receive: the original Digital Deluxe Edition and Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition bundle different passes. Check the full product name on your platform store before paying.

This distinction matters most for returning players. Buying a Deluxe bundle because it sounds complete can leave you without the older pass, or make you pay for a base game you already own.

What comes with the Standard Edition?
Digital Standard
The digital Standard Edition is the base game. It is the straightforward choice if you want to play CrossWorlds without committing to either Season Pass. Any later downloadable content can be considered separately.

Physical Standard
The official purchase guide describes the physical Standard Edition as the base game. Do not assume that a disc or game card includes either Season Pass unless the particular retailer listing explicitly says so. A physical package can be a different edition from a similarly named digital bundle.
The Switch 2 physical release is a separate physical-format option. Confirm that the box is labeled for the Switch 2 version rather than the original Nintendo Switch release.
What is in the original Digital Deluxe Edition?
The original Digital Deluxe Edition combines the base game with the first Season Pass. SEGA’s launch description identifies the Sonic Prime Character Pack as part of this bundle, with Rusty Rose, Tails Nine and Knuckles the Dread. Nintendo’s US listing also describes the bundle as including six content packs containing guest characters, vehicles, tracks, emotes and other items.

SEGA’s purchase information identifies these crossover waves in the original pass:
- Minecraft: Steve, Alex, Creeper, Minecart and a Minecraft World course.
- SpongeBob SquarePants: SpongeBob, Patrick, the Patty Wagon and a Bikini Bottom course.
- PAC-MAN: PAC-MAN, Ghosts, PAC-MAN Mobile and a PAC-Village & Maze course.
- Mega Man.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
- Avatar Legends.
Individual pack contents and release timing can change. Treat the list as the announced scope of the original pass, not a guarantee that every item is available on every platform at the same time.

The practical definition is therefore: original Digital Deluxe = base game + Sonic Prime Character Pack + original Season Pass. It does not include Season Pass Two.
What is Year Two Digital Deluxe?
Year Two Digital Deluxe is a newer, separate bundle. It contains the base game and Season Pass Two. SEGA expressly states that this edition does not include the original Season Pass.

It is better understood as a different base-game bundle aimed at the second content cycle. If you want material from both cycles, buying Year Two Digital Deluxe alone will not provide the first pass.
If you already own the base game
Existing owners do not need to rebuy a base-game bundle. SEGA says they can purchase Season Pass Two or choose its individual downloadable packs separately. Compare those options with the contents of any Deluxe listing shown by your store, especially if the store offers an upgrade package for owners.
If you want both passes
First identify which pass you already own, then purchase only the missing pass or its individual packs. The official purchase guidance warns that the passes contain different content and recommends checking product information to avoid duplicate purchases.

How the Switch 2 upgrade works
Switch 2 Edition content
SEGA says the Switch 2 Edition’s content does not differ from the versions on other platforms. The question for Switch owners is not whether the game has a different roster, but which Nintendo Switch product and upgrade component they are buying.
Buying from a Nintendo Switch copy
SEGA describes the Nintendo Switch Digital Deluxe Edition together with the separate Switch 2 Upgrade Pack as the route to obtain the Switch 2 Edition while also getting the original Season Pass. In practical terms:
- Choose the Nintendo Switch game edition in the store.
- Select the Digital Deluxe version if you want the original Season Pass.
- Add the Switch 2 Upgrade Pack as a separate purchase component.
- Before checkout, verify that the final product list names the intended Switch 2 version and the pass you want.
If you only want the base game, use the Standard game and check whether the store presents the Upgrade Pack separately. Do not assume that buying a Switch 2 upgrade automatically adds a Season Pass.
Using the Switch 2 version on a Switch console
SEGA says that when the Switch 2 version is played on a Nintendo Switch, its features and performance match the Switch version. This does not turn a Standard purchase into a Deluxe purchase; edition ownership and hardware compatibility remain separate questions.
Physical versus digital: what to check
Physical purchases
- Read the exact edition name on the box and retailer page.
- Confirm the platform: Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation or another supported system.
- Look for explicit wording about a Season Pass or character pack.
- For a physical Standard copy, assume base game only unless the listing says otherwise.
- Check whether a code is included and whether it is redeemable in your account’s region.
Digital purchases
Digital storefronts may show several similarly named products at once. Open the item’s full contents panel rather than relying on a thumbnail, “Deluxe” badge or promotional headline. A listing that says “Year Two Digital Deluxe” is not the same product as the original Digital Deluxe Edition.

For a second-hand physical copy, downloadable bonuses may have been redeemed by the original owner. The disc or game card can still provide the base game, but an included code is not necessarily unused.
Prices, bonuses and regional availability
US PlayStation price snapshot
The US PlayStation product page displayed the Standard Edition at $39.99 and Digital Deluxe at $59.99 when accessed. These are storefront snapshots, not permanent or universal prices. Platform, country, currency, tax, sales and date can all change the amount shown at checkout. A price seen in the United States should not be applied to another region.
Werehog Pack offer
SEGA’s June 2025 announcement described the Werehog Pack—Werehog racer, Beast Spike machine and Werehog decal—as a digital pre-order or early physical-purchase bonus. That was historical offer language. The announcement does not establish that a newly purchased copy today includes the pack. Check the live seller listing and its eligibility dates before treating it as part of the order.
Why launch bonuses are easy to misread
Bonuses can be tied to a date, a retailer, a physical purchase window or a particular edition. They are not the same as a Season Pass. A listing can include the original pass but omit a time-limited bonus, or advertise a bonus without including either pass.

Which edition should you buy?
Choose Standard when…
- You want only the base game.
- You are unsure which downloadable content you will use.
- You find a physical copy and are comfortable buying passes later.
Choose the original Digital Deluxe Edition when…
- You specifically want the Sonic Prime Character Pack.
- You want the first Season Pass and its six announced crossover waves.
- You do not need Season Pass Two in the same purchase.
Choose Year Two Digital Deluxe when…
- Your priority is Season Pass Two.
- You do not already own the original pass, or you deliberately plan to buy it separately.
- The store clearly identifies the product as Year Two rather than the original Digital Deluxe Edition.
Choose the Switch 2 route when…
- You are moving from Nintendo Switch hardware to Switch 2.
- You have confirmed whether you own Standard or Digital Deluxe.
- You have budgeted for the separate Switch 2 Upgrade Pack.
A safe checkout checklist
- Identify your platform and region. Prices, package names and upgrade terms can differ.
- Write down the pass you want. “Original Season Pass” and “Season Pass Two” are not interchangeable.
- Check ownership. If the base game or a pass is already on your account, compare a standalone pass or individual pack before buying a bundle.
- Open the contents list. Verify characters, courses, vehicles and bonus items shown for that exact SKU.
- For physical copies, inspect the format. Confirm Standard versus Deluxe and Nintendo Switch versus Switch 2.
- Review bonus conditions. A historical pre-order or early-purchase offer may no longer apply.
- Save the receipt and product name. This helps support staff resolve a mistaken edition purchase.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming every Deluxe edition includes every pass
There are two Deluxe bundles with different passes. Read the year and pass name, not just the word “Deluxe.”

Assuming Standard physical includes downloadable content
The official physical Standard description lists the base game. Require explicit pass wording before counting DLC as included.
Confusing an upgrade with an edition
The Switch 2 Upgrade Pack changes the hardware version route; it does not by itself define whether you own Standard, the original Digital Deluxe bundle or Year Two Digital Deluxe.
Using an old price or bonus as a current promise
Store prices and launch incentives expire or vary by region. Treat the live checkout page as authoritative for the transaction you are making.

SEGA reported more than 1 million units worldwide on October 23, 2025, counting physical units and digital downloads across platforms. That is a historical total for the game, not a current sales count and not a breakdown of Standard, original Digital Deluxe or Year Two Digital Deluxe performance. No official edition-by-edition sales or value comparison is established by that announcement.
