Short answer: SONIC PICO PARK is listed with full controller support on Steam, while the PlayStation Store lists basic controller remapping. The official listings do not document the exact in-game menu path, a complete button map, or whether the same remapping interface exists on PC. After the game is released, open its own Controls or Options screen first; if a setting is not exposed there, check the input settings provided by your platform.
That distinction matters for a cooperative action-puzzle game. You can plan to use a controller on Steam, and you can expect some remapping capability on PlayStation, but you should not rely on an older PICO PARK control guide as if it described SONIC PICO PARK.

What the official listings confirm
The available product pages establish two platform-specific facts, not one universal control system. The Steam listing for SONIC PICO PARK advertises full controller support. The PlayStation Store listing describes basic controller remapping. Neither page publishes a complete button-by-button layout or a verified sequence of menus for changing controls.

| Steam/PC | Full controller support is advertised. | The listing does not specify the remapping workflow, keyboard bindings, or a final control map. | Start with the game’s own Controls or Options screen, then use the platform’s controller settings if the game does not provide the binding you need. |
| PlayStation | The store page lists basic controller remapping. | The page does not say whether remapping is handled entirely in-game, through console settings, or through both; it also does not enumerate every bindable action. | Check the released game’s Controls or Options screen and the controller settings on your console when a game-level option is missing. |
Because the Steam page showed the game as not yet available at the time it was checked (October 13, 2026), release timing and final control features can change. Treat the published listing as a capability signal rather than a finished manual. Re-check the live game and its current store page before following any detailed setup advice.

How to change controls in SONIC PICO PARK after release
There is no verified menu path to quote yet, so the safest procedure is to use labels actually present in your copy instead of assuming that another PICO PARK game’s layout was reused.
- Launch the released game. Wait until you reach its title screen or a playable session. A pre-release store description cannot confirm where settings appear in the final build.
- Open the menu labeled Controls, Options, Settings, or a similar term. Look first at the title screen, then at the pause menu if settings are unavailable before starting a session. The exact label and location have not been published by the official listings.
- Identify the input device before editing a binding. A controller and a keyboard can expose different rows of actions. Select the device or player slot shown by the game rather than changing a different player’s profile.
- Select an action and assign a new button or key. If the game presents a confirm prompt, press the replacement input once and accept it. Watch for warnings about an existing assignment before overwriting it.
- Apply or save the profile. Some games commit changes immediately; others require an Apply, Save, or Done command. Return to the control list and verify that the new input is still shown.
- Test in a low-stakes session. Confirm movement, the principal action, any jump or interact command, menu navigation, and the button used to pause or leave a session. Cooperative puzzles punish one missing input more severely than a solo game, so test every player position.
- Record a working layout. If the game has multiple profiles or player slots, note which slot was changed. This makes it easier to restore a known-good setup after a patch or when a second local player joins.
This workflow tells you what to do without inventing an interface that has not been documented. If no in-game remapper appears, that absence is not proof that the game cannot be customized: platform-level controller settings may still be available, but their labels and scope depend on the console or PC configuration you are using.
Steam and PC: what “full controller support” means
On Steam, “full controller support” means the store identifies controller input as supported for the game. It does not, by itself, promise that every controller model works, that every button can be reassigned, or that keyboard and controller players can be mixed locally. The listing also does not publish a final keyboard map.

Choosing an input device
A standard PC-compatible game controller is an optional way to play; no controller is established as mandatory, and no particular model has been tested or endorsed by the available official information. If you already own a compatible pad, connect it before launching the game so the software has the best chance to identify the intended player device. A wired connection can simplify diagnosis when wireless pairing or battery state is uncertain.
Do not interpret “full support” as a guarantee for every third-party device, adapter, remapping layer, or unusual layout. Compatibility can depend on the controller’s operating mode and on how the PC exposes it to Steam. If the pad is not detected, first determine whether the operating system and Steam recognize it at all; only then decide whether the issue is specific to SONIC PICO PARK.
When a controller is detected but the game uses the wrong device
- Disconnect unused pads, fight sticks, virtual devices, and remapping utilities temporarily so the game sees one clear controller.
- Reconnect the desired controller before starting or restarting the game.
- Check whether the game’s player slot is assigned to the controller rather than to keyboard input.
- Open the game’s own Controls or Options screen and verify that the displayed device changes when you press a button.
- If the controller works in other PC games but not here, note the controller mode and any software layer in use before contacting the game’s support channel.
These checks diagnose device selection; they do not establish an official SONIC PICO PARK keyboard or Steam remapping path. If the final PC release documents one, follow that release-specific menu rather than a guide for an earlier title.

PlayStation: understanding “basic controller remapping”
The PlayStation Store listing says SONIC PICO PARK has basic controller remapping. “Basic” is meaningful: it indicates some customization, not necessarily unrestricted reassignment of every action, multiple saved profiles, or separate layouts for every player.

After installation, inspect the game’s Controls or Options area first. If the game offers only a limited set of assignments, the console’s own controller or accessibility settings may provide an additional layer. The official listing does not specify which functions are handled in-game and which are handled by the console, so verify the result in the actual release.
How to validate a remap
- Change one high-frequency action, such as the primary confirm or movement input, rather than changing the whole layout at once.
- Save or apply the change if the interface presents that command.
- Return to a practice or ordinary puzzle and confirm both gameplay and menu navigation.
- Check every local player’s controller separately; a remap on one profile or device may not automatically affect another.
- Restore the original layout if another player cannot navigate menus or if two actions now conflict.
Do not assume that a remap made in a console-level setting will be shown by the game as a changed button label. What matters is the observed input in a real session and whether the setting persists after restarting.

- Aim and move with precision by swapping in fresh stick modules* so you’re always playing with equipment that’s in great shape. Plus, three types of changeable stick caps help you stay comfortable in-game without sacrificing grip or stability.
- Mappable back buttons The DualSense Edge wireless controller’s two swappable sets of back buttons can be configured to any other button input, so you’ve always got game-changing actions and essential controls at your fingertips.
- Adjustable trigger lengths Manually set the travel distance of your left and right triggers for an optimal experience with whatever you’re playing. Fast-paced FPS? Set a shorter travel distance to shoot faster on the field. Competitive racer? Set a longer travel distance for precise throttle control on the track.
- Remappable buttons Remap or even deactivate specific button inputs, so you can create a completely personalized control setup that’s ideal for the game at hand.
- Quick-swap control profiles Once you’ve found your ideal control settings, you can save them to unique profiles and swap between them on-the-fly, so your favourite configurations are always ready when you are.
Keyboard, mixed local play, and the earlier PICO PARK game
An older developer support reply for the earlier title PICO PARK says keyboard configuration is available in that game’s Option menu and discusses local play using a mixture of keyboard and controllers. That reply concerns the earlier game, not SONIC PICO PARK. It is useful as historical context only and does not verify the same menu, bindings, or mixed-input behavior in the Sonic-branded release. The older discussion is available at the TECOPARK support thread for PICO PARK.
For SONIC PICO PARK, the current official listings do not establish:
- a complete keyboard control map;
- a keyboard-remapping workflow on Steam;
- mixed keyboard-and-controller local multiplayer;
- the number of supported local players or input devices; or
- whether keyboard changes are saved per player, globally, or per profile.
If you plan a mixed-input session, test it before inviting a full group. Connect one controller, confirm the keyboard can still navigate or join, and check that each participant appears in the intended player slot. If the game does not recognize the keyboard, that is a missing documented feature rather than evidence that the older PICO PARK instructions were followed incorrectly.

Setting up a cooperative control layout
SONIC PICO PARK is presented as a cooperative action-puzzle game, so control customization is mainly about reducing input errors between people sharing a session. A comfortable layout is more valuable than copying another player’s button choices.
Prioritize the actions used under pressure
- Put movement on the input surface each player can reach without releasing the primary action.
- Keep the most frequent action on a large, familiar button.
- Avoid assigning two critical actions to neighboring buttons if a player is likely to press them accidentally.
- Leave menu confirmation and pause functions easy to reach; a team needs a reliable way to stop and correct a mistake.
- For players with limited reach or strength, move repeated actions to buttons that require less thumb travel, if the game’s remapper permits that change.
Use a consistent team convention
Before starting a puzzle, have every player say which device and player slot they are using. Keep equivalent actions in comparable positions when possible, but do not sacrifice comfort to make layouts identical. If one player changes a binding, announce it so another player does not rely on an old callout such as “press the bottom button.” Use the action name shown by the game instead of a color or position that may differ between controllers.
Check for conflicts
A remapper may allow an action to be assigned to a button that already performs another function. After every substantial change, test the whole set: movement, the primary interaction, any secondary action, pause, confirmation, cancellation, and player-join input. A layout that works during movement can still fail when a menu requires a different command.

Troubleshooting controls and settings
| Symptom | Checks to make | What the result tells you |
|---|---|---|
| The controller is not detected | Confirm the PC or console sees the device, reconnect it, remove competing devices, and restart the game after the controller is available. | If the platform cannot see the controller, the problem is outside the game’s remapper. If other software sees it but SONIC PICO PARK does not, record the device and connection mode for support. |
| Buttons work, but the layout is uncomfortable | Open the game’s Controls or Options area and change one frequent action at a time; save and test after each change. | This distinguishes a remapping limitation from a failed save or wrong player slot. |
| A change disappears after restarting | Look for Apply, Save, or profile-selection commands, then repeat the test with one change. Check whether another player profile was edited. | The game may require an explicit save or may store settings per device or profile; the official listings do not specify which. |
| One player cannot join | Verify that each controller is assigned to a separate player slot, disconnect virtual or unused devices, and test one keyboard/controller combination at a time. | This narrows the issue to device assignment or an unsupported mixed-input arrangement, neither of which is documented for SONIC PICO PARK. |
| Menus respond differently from gameplay | Test confirm, cancel, pause, and navigation separately from movement and action inputs. Restore conflicting assignments if necessary. | Some controls may be fixed or may use a different context; do not assume a gameplay remap changes every menu command. |
| A guide gives different instructions | Check whether it names SONIC PICO PARK or the earlier PICO PARK, and check its publication date and platform. | Older instructions cannot establish the Sonic release’s final controls. |
What to verify on launch day
Use this short checklist when the game becomes available or receives a major update:
- Confirm the store page and game build you are using; availability and features can change from the pre-release listing.
- Open the in-game Controls or Options screen and note the exact labels shown for controller and keyboard input.
- Check whether remapping is global, per player, or tied to a profile.
- Test a controller on Steam and each PlayStation device you intend to use rather than assuming cross-platform parity.
- Try the specific local-player arrangement you need, including mixed keyboard/controller input only if the release itself exposes it.
- Change one binding, save it, restart, and confirm persistence.
- Keep the original layout available until every player has completed a real puzzle without missed inputs.
Bottom line for Steam and PlayStation players
You can plan around controller play on Steam because the official listing advertises full controller support. On PlayStation, you can expect at least basic controller remapping because the store page lists it. The exact menu path, complete button map, keyboard workflow, and mixed-input behavior remain release-specific details that the official listings do not provide. Use the controls shown by your installed copy, verify each player slot in a live cooperative session, and treat instructions for the earlier PICO PARK as historical context rather than a SONIC PICO PARK manual.
