GamesRadar reported on July 17, 2025 that Console Heroes Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 dioramas were linked to Amazon at $19.99 and described as preorder items. Those details are useful for identifying a small game-era display format, but they are historical. A July 2025 price, seller and release status should not be presented as current without checking the live listing.
Plush: a softer alternative to rigid figures

The official SEGA Shop listing identifies Great Eastern Entertainment as the licensee for its Classic Sonic posable plush. It gives approximate dimensions of 11.5 inches tall by 5 inches wide by 7 inches long and notes a string for display. The listing’s captured page did not include a price, so it is not possible to place this plush accurately in a budget tier from the available information. Check the current listing for price and stock. Do not infer durability, stuffing quality or child-safety suitability from the dimensions alone; those details require the manufacturer’s current specifications.
Choose plush when the recipient likes tactile merchandise, wants to reposition a character, or has limited space for rigid statues. A plush also avoids the visual commitment of a large, fixed pose. This is the most straightforward step up for a fan who specifically wants a statue but whose budget does not reach the premium $184.99 or $274.99 examples. The product name matters: $119.99 applies to this named 11-inch Collector’s Edition listing, not to every PVC statue or every Sonic figure sold elsewhere.
Before buying, measure the intended shelf depth and vertical clearance. Also confirm whether the recipient prefers modern Sonic, classic Sonic or a particular pose; a statue is a more permanent visual choice than a mug or magnet.

Because the listing was a preorder, confirm the estimated release window, payment timing, cancellation terms and shipping destination before treating it as a birthday or holiday gift. A preorder can be an excellent collector gift when the recipient is comfortable waiting, but it is risky for a fixed-date event.
Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic and Shadow statues — $274.99 each
The collection listed Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic and Shadow statues by First 4 Figures at $274.99 each, with both labeled preorder at the time of review. These are separate products: buying the Sonic statue does not include Shadow, and vice versa.
This tier is appropriate when you know the recipient’s character preference and their attachment to Sonic Adventure 2. It is not a neutral “Sonic fan” purchase in the way a magnet or mug can be. Ask whether the recipient wants Sonic, Shadow or both before spending at this level, and account for the possibility that two statues would double the listed product cost before shipping or taxes.

In a March 27, 2026 announcement, SEGA listed a six-design Sonic & Friends × Sanrio acrylic figure collection at ¥880 for one figure or ¥5,280 for an unopened box. Singles are random, while the announcement says an unopened box contains all six designs.

Random distribution changes the buying decision. One ¥880 purchase may not deliver the character or Sanrio pairing the recipient wants, and repeated singles can produce duplicates. The ¥5,280 box is the option described as containing all six designs when unopened, but that statement is tied to the announced Japanese-market release.
Do not assume universal availability, US pricing, English-language packaging or international shipping. The yen prices and sales information are regional and date-specific. For a recipient outside Japan, verify the authorized seller, import costs, delivery timeline and whether the box remains factory sealed if completing the six-design set matters.

Choose display over everyday use when the fan collects by era
Rigid statues and dioramas make the most sense for someone who arranges shelves around a game, anniversary or character. Green Hill Zone suits a classic-era theme; the Sonic Adventure 2 statues suit a specific game and character pairing. Display pieces need space and a recipient who enjoys maintaining a visual collection.
Choose everyday merchandise when preferences are uncertain
Mugs and magnets communicate the fandom without requiring knowledge of a favorite installment. They are also easier to store and replace than a large statue. The trade-off is that they usually have less presence as a dedicated collectible.
