Is the Sommuto mattress discontinued?

Both sources describe a foam mattress-in-a-box, but they do not give identical specifications. CHOICE lists a seven-layer, 23.5 cm queen mattress weighing 32 kg. Bedbuyer’s review, last updated May 21, 2021, describes a 26 cm mattress available in single, king single, double, queen and king sizes. It says the mattress was Australian-made using Australian-made foams.

Bedbuyer described its test mattress as medium-firm and rated it 7/10 on its own firmness scale. That is a reviewer assessment, not a confirmed manufacturer firmness specification. CHOICE does not state the claimed firmness in its public listing.

Bedbuyer said it let the mattress decompress for 24 hours before assessment. Its review reported reasonable edge support and low motion transfer. These are that publication’s observations of the mattress it assessed, not a current laboratory result or a guarantee of how another unit will feel.

ProductReview.com.au displays mixed individual accounts. Some reviewers describe comfort, support and little disturbance from a partner; others say the mattress felt too firm or unsupportive, retained heat, or had a persistent chemical odor. Some also report difficulty reaching customer service or completing a return or refund.

Current eligibility is not established. Bedbuyer’s 2021 review recorded a 100-night trial, a request to use the mattress for at least 30 days during that period, and a 10-year warranty. CHOICE separately lists a 100-day trial for its queen entry. The sources use different trial wording, and neither historical listing proves that a trial or warranty remains available for a discontinued, secondhand or older-stock mattress.

Do not assume that a previous owner’s purchase date, receipt or unused trial period transfers coverage. For a specific mattress, any claim depends on the applicable written terms and the seller or warranty provider’s confirmation.

Bedbuyer reproduced a Sommuto statement that its foams were “low VOC (volatile organic compounds) and do not contain mercury, lead or formaldehyde”. This is a historical brand claim, not an independent chemical test or certification. Bedbuyer said it could not locate formal non-toxic certifications.
What should you check if you find one for sale?
Because the model is discontinued, judge a specific listing and mattress rather than relying on the old review alone. Before paying, confirm:
