It is not an official Blizzard release, and it is not for the original 2000 game. According to the creator, it is also offline only.
What the mod claims to do
The creator announced the project in a post on r/virtualreality. The post reads: “I made a VR mod for Diablo II: Resurrected: first-person view, real stereo 3D (both eyes are rendered by the game, nothing faked from a flat picture), and your hands are tied to the motion controllers.”

Three things stand out in that description:
- First-person viewing. You see the world from your character’s position, not from above.
- Real stereo 3D. The creator says the game renders both eyes itself. They say the depth is not faked from a flat image, which is how some depth-conversion tools work.
- Motion-controller hands. Your character’s arms are tied to your controllers. The creator also mentions movement options.
These are the creator’s own claims. The sources don’t show that anyone independently tested every class, skill or full playthrough. Coverage on vr.org also identifies the remaster as the target game.
Offline only: what that means for you
The creator says the mod works offline only. Treat that as a hard limit. Don’t try it on Battle.net or on an account you care about. A modified game client in an online setting can put an account at risk, so keep this to single-player characters.

What you need
The creator’s setup names two tools:
- FlatVR. Its official download page says a VR headset is required. It supports SteamVR or an OpenXR runtime. The page distinguishes a free download from paid licence features. The sources don’t establish whether this mod needs the paid features, so check before you buy anything.
- BodyWalk. A locomotion tool, listed on itch.io, which the creator names as part of the setup.
Beyond a PC VR headset that works with SteamVR or OpenXR, no specific headset model is confirmed as compatible. Exact version numbers, loader requirements and install steps aren’t confirmed here either. They can change between builds, so follow the instructions in the creator’s own current release rather than a third-party summary.
Can you play the whole game?
A commenter on the creator’s post asked this directly. The available sources give no verified answer. The mod is described as playable first-person with controller-driven hands, but nobody has shown a complete, independently confirmed run through all acts. Expect rough edges typical of a community project, such as UI that was built for a flat screen and camera behaviour that a top-down game never had to handle.

Why it matters
Diablo II’s design assumes you look down at a character from afar. Moving the camera into the character’s head changes how scale, enemy crowds and dungeon layouts feel. The mod is a technical experiment as much as a way to play, and it is worth following if you already own a PC VR headset and the game.
