If Outriders remains on “Signed in”, fully close the game, restart your platform, install pending game and system updates, then launch it again. Xbox players should perform a complete power cycle; PlayStation players should reserve reinstalling and rebuilding the database for persistent cases; PC players should restart Steam and verify the installation. These steps address local hangs without assuming that Square Enix servers are currently down.
The sign-in loop is a documented historical Outriders problem. A past community update said a planned patch would “resolve an issue that could cause players to get stuck on the ‘Sign In’ screen,” but that record does not prove a present-day outage or explain every current occurrence.

What the “Signed in” hang means
Outriders can stop after authentication appears to succeed, leaving the game on the “Signed in” screen instead of loading the lobby or main menu. The failure can occur on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Steam on PC. At that point, the game may be waiting on a stalled local session, a damaged installation, a suspended console state, or a service-side response that never completes.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere is historical evidence that the symptom was a recognized software defect. A launch-era issue thread called it a “Stuck at ‘Signing In’ Loop,” and a later community update described a planned patch intended to resolve players being stuck on the “Sign In” screen. Those records establish that the symptom has existed; they do not establish that Square Enix is experiencing an outage today. Treat the current incident as a local troubleshooting problem first, then collect evidence for support if it persists.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Do these safe checks first
- Exit Outriders completely. Do not leave it suspended in Xbox Quick Resume, PlayStation rest mode, or a minimized PC session. Open the platform’s game switcher or task controls, highlight Outriders, and choose the command that closes or quits it.
- Restart the platform. Use the normal restart command rather than immediately launching the game again. A restart clears a hung game process and creates a fresh network and authentication session.
- Install updates. Check for an Outriders update and for pending PlayStation, Xbox, Windows, or Steam client updates. Restart once more after an update finishes, then try the game before changing files or deleting data.
- Confirm the symptom. Launch Outriders from a fresh start and note whether it freezes on the same screen, returns to the title screen, or produces an error. That distinction is useful if you need to report the problem.
These first actions are reversible: they do not remove your installation or local saves. If the game reaches the menu after the restart, avoid repeating destructive steps simply because the original hang happened once.
Platform-specific recovery
Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One: perform a complete power cycle
Square Enix’s Xbox FAQ gives a full power cycle as a response to persistent Outriders faults. A normal dashboard restart is not the same procedure.
- Close Outriders from the Xbox guide so it is not still running in Quick Resume.
- Shut the Xbox down completely.
- Disconnect the console’s power briefly.
- Reconnect the power, turn the console on, and launch Outriders again.
If the sign-in screen still hangs, repeat the test after confirming that both the game and Xbox system software are current. Record whether the failure occurs after a cold start as well as after ordinary use; that information helps distinguish a suspended-session problem from a repeatable game or service fault.

PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro: restart before escalation
- Close Outriders from the PlayStation home screen rather than leaving it in rest mode.
- Power-cycle the console, then start the game from a clean boot.
- Check for updates for Outriders and the PlayStation system software.
- If the game still cannot pass “Signed in,” use the PlayStation support sequence listed for persistent Outriders crashes: reinstall the game and, where appropriate, rebuild the database.
Reinstalling is an escalation step, not the first response. Before deleting anything, make sure you understand where your local save and other game data are stored and what your own backup or cloud-sync setup contains. Do not remove save data merely to test the sign-in screen. A database rebuild is also a maintenance action; follow the console’s on-screen instructions and let it finish without interrupting power.
PC on Steam: restart the client and verify the installation
- Exit Outriders and quit Steam from the Steam menu so the client itself closes.
- Restart the PC, open Steam again, and launch Outriders.
- Use Steam’s installed-game properties to run the storefront’s verify game files command. Allow the check to complete and reacquire any files Steam reports as missing or damaged.
- Retry the game after verification. If you use more than one Windows account, test from the account that normally owns and launches the game so the result is reproducible.
Clearing a PC cache, changing a graphics driver, or altering security software can be reasonable general Windows checks when other games also fail, but the official Outriders bug guidance does not promise that any particular cache or driver change fixes this sign-in hang. Make one change at a time and record what you changed so you can undo it if the behavior worsens.
Decide whether the problem is local or service-related
A historical “Signing In” report is not evidence that Square Enix servers are down now. Use the pattern of the failure instead of assuming an outage:

- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Likely local or session-related: the game works after a cold restart, fails only when resumed from rest mode or Quick Resume, or affects one console or PC while other online games work.
- Possibly installation-related: verification finds damaged files, the game crashes or returns to the dashboard, or the behavior began immediately after an interrupted update.
- Worth reporting as a broader service problem: the hang repeats after a cold start and a current installation, and other players on the same platform report the same sign-in behavior at the same time.
Do not repeatedly reinstall while a service-side incident is possible. Reinstallation changes local files but cannot repair an authentication service that is failing for everyone.

Fix order by platform, reversibility and evidence value
| Platform | First action | Later escalation | Data risk | Evidence produced |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PC (Steam) | Restart Steam and the PC; verify game files | Report with CPU, GPU and RAM after verification fails to help | Low while restarting or verifying | Verification result and repeatability after a clean boot |
| PlayStation 5, PS4, PS4 Pro | Close the game and power-cycle the console | Reinstall the game; rebuild the database for persistent faults | Higher once reinstall or data deletion is considered | Whether the hang survives a cold boot and a current installation |
| Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One | Close the game and complete a power cycle | Document the repeated cold-start failure for support | Low for the documented power cycle | Whether Quick Resume or a suspended session was involved |
The order matters: begin with reversible actions, then use platform maintenance, and only afterward consider reinstalling. Every failed step should be recorded rather than repeated without a new variable.
Common mistakes that keep the loop going
Launching from a suspended session
Quick Resume and rest mode can preserve a game process that is no longer valid for a fresh sign-in. Close Outriders first, then restart the platform before testing again.

Reinstalling before checking updates or files
A pending update or damaged file check can be handled without deleting the whole installation. Reserve a reinstall for the persistent PlayStation case described above, and understand your save-data situation first.
Sending an incomplete support ticket
“It is stuck” does not tell support which platform, system version, language, multiplayer state, or hardware is involved. Supplying those fields shortens the diagnostic exchange and lets support compare your report with other cases.
