Soluna has filed plans for Project Kati II, a planned single-building data center in Willacy County, Texas. The 2026 Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registration describes approximately 471,884 square feet, 112 megawatts of critical IT load and an estimated construction value of about $471.8 million. The filing characterizes the project as privately funded, privately owned and for private use, but it does not provide a construction start or completion date.

What Soluna is proposing

Project Kati II is an AI-oriented data-center building within Soluna’s broader Kati development. “Critical IT load” refers to the power available to computing equipment, rather than the total electricity consumed by the entire site’s cooling, electrical and other support systems. The 112MW figure therefore describes the building’s planned computing capacity, not necessarily its total utility draw.

The registration identifies one building of roughly 471,884 square feet. At the filing’s estimated construction value of approximately $471.8 million, the reported figure is about $1,000 per square foot, although that simple calculation should not be treated as a final project budget or operating-cost estimate.

How Kati II fits Soluna’s larger campus plan

The 112MW building should not be confused with the capacity figures Soluna has disclosed for the wider Kati 2 campus. In a 2026 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Soluna described a 100MW first phase and an additional 250MW second phase for the multi-phase development. Its investor presentation describes a 350MW full-campus expansion target.

#1 Best Overall
VEVOR 6U Wall Mount Network Server Cabinet, 14.8'' Deep, Server Rack Cabinet Enclosure, 200 lbs Max. Ground-Mounted Load Capacity, with Locking Glass Door Side Panels, for IT Equipment, A/V Devices
  • Space Saving: Maximum depth: 14.8". Use the wall mount network cabinet to maximize available space for retail locations, classrooms, back offices, network cabinets, and other locations where space is limited.
  • Fast Heat Dissipation: The server cabinet is designed with vents to optimize airflow and avoid critical IT equipment overheating. Heat sink holes in the top, bottom, and rear panels are more conducive to heat dissipation.
  • Sturdy Construction: Robust welded frame construction for durability and long service life. With 100 lbs wall-mounted load capacity and 200 lbs ground-mounted load capacity, you can place multiple devices in the server rack cabinet as needed.
  • High Security: The locked glass door ensures the security of data and equipment. Wall mount rack enclosure server cabinet is ideal for use in public places such as offices, effectively protecting the security of your devices.
  • Hassle-free Installation: Fully adjustable square-hole mounting rails of the wall mount server cabinet facilitate device installation. Wiring holes on the top, bottom, and rear panels provide you with easy cable routing.

Those phase and expansion numbers describe campus-level plans. They do not establish that the filed 471,884-square-foot building itself will contain 350MW, nor do they provide a revised load for the specific 112MW registration.

Soluna’s separate Kati project FAQ describes the broader Kati campus as having 166MW of capacity. Because that figure covers a different scope from the Kati 2 phase plan and the new-building registration, the numbers should be read as separate disclosures rather than added together.

Soluna’s joint venture with Metrobloks

Soluna’s June 3, 2026 definitive joint-venture agreement with Metrobloks provides the development structure for Kati 2. Soluna’s SEC filing says the joint venture will invest in a newly formed entity to develop and operate the multi-phase Willacy County data-center campus.

Power strategy: wind resources plus ERCOT access

Soluna describes the Kati campus as wind-powered and says it is intended to support Bitcoin hosting initially while accommodating artificial-intelligence and high-performance-computing workloads as demand develops. The investor presentation describes a dual-fed power strategy combining wind generation with connection to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid.

That strategy is a stated development objective, not proof that the new building is already energized or operating. The project remains planned, and the available disclosures do not specify the final electrical equipment, utility-service configuration or operating economics for the 112MW building.

Why the filing matters

A 112MW critical-IT building represents a substantial planned computing installation, while the 471,884-square-foot footprint indicates a large single-building deployment rather than a small pilot site. The proposed wind-and-grid model also reflects the power requirements of AI and other high-density workloads. However, the filing is evidence of a planned project, not an operating data center: capacity, cost and expansion targets remain subject to development, financing, permitting, equipment procurement and customer commitments.
