For the Yen Press English collected comic edition, read Solo Leveling Volumes 1 through 13, then Volume 14 (Side Stories 1), then Volume 15 (Side Stories 2). After both side-story volumes, begin the sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, at Volume 1. That sequence applies specifically to Yen Press’s English print-volume catalog; digital episode numbers and editions in other regions may be organized differently.

The complete Yen Press English reading order

The simplest sequence is the publisher’s numbered English collected edition:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  1. Solo Leveling, Volumes 1 through 13, in numerical order.
  2. Solo Leveling, Volume 14: Side Stories 1.
  3. Solo Leveling, Volume 15: Side Stories 2.
  4. Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, starting with Volume 1 and continuing upward.

Yen Press lists 15 volumes for the original comic and identifies the final two as side-story collections. It separately catalogs Ragnarok as the sequel and lists its first three comic volumes. Reading the side stories before the sequel gives you the publisher’s complete original-comic sequence rather than stopping at the end of the main arc.

Read the original main story first

Volumes 1–13

Begin with Volume 1 and continue consecutively through Volume 13. Do not skip to a later number because a digital service, box set, or local edition uses a different display order. The 1–13 run is the main numbered portion of the Yen Press English collection. Keeping the volumes in numerical order avoids the most common mistake: treating the side-story books as optional extras that can be read before the original conclusion.

If you are collecting physical books, check the volume number printed on the cover or copyright page rather than relying only on a retailer’s series filter. Retailer listings can group novels, comics, special editions, and translations together. The Yen Press catalog number is the useful reference for this particular sequence.

Where the side stories fit

Volume 14: Side Stories 1

Volume 14 is explicitly labeled Side Stories 1. Read it immediately after Volume 13. Its placement is not a fan-created numbering convention: Yen Press places this collection as the fourteenth volume of the English collected comic.

Volume 15: Side Stories 2

Volume 15 is labeled Side Stories 2 and follows Volume 14. Complete both side-story books before opening Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. The side-story material belongs to the original comic sequence and helps establish the next-generation premise that the sequel uses.

Book Position in Yen Press English collection How to use it
Solo Leveling Vol. 13 Thirteenth original volume Finish before either side-story collection.
Solo Leveling Vol. 14 Side Stories 1 Read directly after Vol. 13.
Solo Leveling Vol. 15 Side Stories 2 Read after Vol. 14 and before Ragnarok.

Because these are collected side stories, the word “side” does not mean “read whenever you want.” In this reading plan, both volumes are the final part of the original comic before the sequel. Starting Ragnarok after Volume 13 would leave the Yen Press original collection unfinished.

Start Solo Leveling: Ragnarok after Volume 15

Why it is the next title

Yen Press describes Solo Leveling: Ragnarok as the sequel to the original Solo Leveling novel and comic. Its comic follows Sung Suho. The publisher’s description of Volume 15 establishes the connection among Suho, Jinwoo, and Haein, which is why the side-story volumes are the natural bridge into the sequel’s premise.

Once you finish Volume 15, begin Ragnarok Volume 1. Continue in its own volume numbering rather than trying to add its numbers to the original series. A Ragnarok Volume 1 is the first book of the sequel, not a replacement for original Volume 1.

How many sequel volumes are listed

Yen Press currently lists Solo Leveling: Ragnarok comic Volumes 1, 2, and 3. That catalog count is a publication listing, not a claim that the sequel story is complete. Follow the highest volume available in your region and format, then use the publisher’s catalog or your digital platform to identify later releases.

Print order versus digital episode order

If you read on Tapas

Tapas marks its original Solo Leveling comic as completed and distinguishes the regular episodes from special episodes. For a digital reader, finish the complete original series shown on the platform before moving to its Ragnarok listing. The platform’s listing does not provide a chapter-to-print-volume crosswalk, so do not assume that a particular episode number equals a Yen Press volume number.

Digital services may also display free episodes, paid unlocks, special episodes, or season labels in ways that differ from a collected book’s table of contents. Use the platform’s “completed” status and series title to locate the end of the original, but use Yen Press volume numbers only when you are matching print editions.

If you switch from digital to print

Record the last episode or special episode you finished, then compare the synopsis, chapter title, or contents page in the next available volume. Without an official crosswalk, it is safer to overlap a small amount of material than to skip ahead based on an estimated conversion. The source listings establish the two series and their completion or release status, but not a universal episode-to-volume map.

Current digital status of Ragnarok

Tapas’s Solo Leveling: Ragnarok listing shows 69 episodes. A notice dated January 31, 2026, says that season 2 had ended and the comic was entering a hiatus before season 3. The notice does not give a return date. You can therefore read the available episodes, but you should not treat a season-3 launch date as confirmed.

The episode count and the print-volume count answer different questions. “69 episodes” describes the Tapas listing; “Volumes 1–3” describes Yen Press’s collected comic catalog. Neither number converts reliably into the other without an official mapping, and neither indicates that the overall sequel has reached its ending.

Edition and geography caveats

What this order covers

This guide is anchored to the Yen Press English collected comic edition. It is the correct reference when your books carry Yen Press’s English volume numbering, including the labels Side Stories 1 and Side Stories 2.

Why another edition may look different

Print volumes, digital episodes, translations, and regional releases can use different numbering, release dates, or names for bonus material. A local-language edition may bundle side stories into another book, while a digital service may present them as special episodes instead of a separate volume. The existence of a different label does not automatically mean the story order has changed; verify the publisher and edition before buying a replacement volume.

No single chapter list should be presented as a universal map for every country and platform. If your edition does not show a volume number, identify whether it is the original series or Ragnarok, then follow that service’s internal sequence. Move to the sequel only after the original listing and its side material are complete.

Planning a physical collection

Finding the final original volume

The most direct physical book for completing the original side stories is Solo Leveling, Vol. 15 (comic): Side Stories 2. Yen Press gives the English edition ISBN as 9798400904677 and lists a March 17, 2026 release date. Availability can vary by retailer and region, so check the current listing when you order rather than assuming every store has stock on that date.

Buying the sequel in sequence

After Volume 15, look for the separately titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok comic and start with its Volume 1. Yen Press lists sequel Volumes 1–3, allowing a collector to continue without confusing the sequel’s numbering with the original fifteen-volume run.

Common reading-order problems

“I finished Volume 13. Can I skip to Ragnarok?”

You can understand that the sequel follows the original, but the complete Yen Press sequence places two more books between those points. Read Volume 14 and Volume 15 first if you want the full original comic and the connective side-story material.

“My app has special episodes. Are those Volume 14?”

Not necessarily. Tapas separates special episodes from standard episodes, while Yen Press labels its collected books by volume. The available listings do not establish a one-to-one correspondence, so use the app’s own episode order and do not rename specials as print volumes without an official guide.

“Why does my store show a different number?”

Confirm whether the listing is for the comic, the novel, a translated edition, or Ragnarok. Also check the country and publisher. This article’s 1–15 sequence is specifically for Yen Press’s English collected comic edition.

“When will season 3 of Ragnarok start?”

As of the January 31, 2026 Tapas notice, season 2 had ended and season 3 was pending after a hiatus. No return date was announced in that notice, so rely on a later official announcement rather than an estimated schedule.

One-page checklist

  • Confirm that your books are the Yen Press English collected comic edition.
  • Read original Volumes 1–13 in order.
  • Read Volume 14, Side Stories 1.
  • Read Volume 15, Side Stories 2.
  • Begin Solo Leveling: Ragnarok with Volume 1.
  • If reading digitally, finish the completed original listing and keep its episode order separate from print-volume numbers.
  • For Ragnarok on Tapas, treat the 69-episode listing and the January 31, 2026 season-2 hiatus notice as current status information, not a promise of a season-3 date.
