Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 leads the cited benchmark averages and has higher listed CPU clocks; Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 lists support for an on-device FHD+ display up to 144 Hz. Both are 4 nm, eight-core platforms with a 1+3+4 CPU arrangement. Neither spec sheet alone establishes which phone is the better buy: performance and features depend on the handset’s implementation, and benchmark figures come from different devices.
How the two platforms differ
The shared 4 nm process label and eight-core layout are a starting point, not proof of equal performance or efficiency. The main documented differences are the listed CPU clocks and the 6 Gen 4’s explicit FHD+ 144 Hz display-support ceiling.

| Specification | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Process technology | 4 nm | 4 nm | The same process label does not establish equal power use or efficiency. Qualcomm’s 6 Gen 4 product brief and 7s Gen 3 product brief describe platform capabilities. |
| CPU layout and listed clocks | 1 prime core up to 2.3 GHz, 3 performance cores up to 2.2 GHz, and 4 efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz | Qualcomm lists a maximum CPU clock of up to 2.5 GHz; the brief describes a Kryo CPU. Four efficiency cores are listed up to 1.8 GHz. | The 7s Gen 3 has the higher published maximum clock, but clock speed alone does not predict performance in every phone. The 2.5 GHz figure is on Qualcomm’s 7s Gen 3 product page. |
| On-device display support | FHD+ up to 144 Hz | Check the specific handset and product specifications | A platform’s maximum supported refresh rate does not mean every phone using it has a 144 Hz panel. |
| Camera and video capabilities | Up to 200 MP photo capture and 4K 30 fps HDR capture | Qualcomm describes 200 MP photo and 4K HDR video capabilities | These are platform capabilities, not a guarantee of a particular camera sensor, image quality, or recording mode in a phone. |
| Connectivity | 5G and Wi-Fi 6E; brief lists up to 2.9 Gbps downlink | 5G and Wi-Fi 6E; brief lists up to 2.9 Gbps downlink | Supported bands and the actual radio configuration vary by handset and market; verify the exact model. |
Qualcomm’s 6 Gen 4 brief notes that actual results vary with OEM implementation and other factors. Its comparisons refer to Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, not to the 7s Gen 3. Qualcomm’s 7s Gen 3 launch announcement also gives generational claims—nearly 20% improved CPU performance, up to 40% accelerated GPU, over 30% better AI performance, and 12% overall power savings—but those figures compare the 7s Gen 3 with the 7s Gen 2, not the 6 Gen 4. Qualcomm’s August 2024 announcement provides that context.
Which chip leads the reported benchmarks?
The cited NanoReview comparison reports higher averages for the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 in every listed result. The figures below are the page’s aggregates at the time of the comparison captured on October 7, 2026; they are not scores from two chips tested in otherwise identical phones.

| PCMark 3.0 | 13,160 | 11,789 | Results from 8 phone models for 7s Gen 3; 3 for 6 Gen 4 |
The unequal samples and different phone models make these useful as directional comparisons, not controlled evidence that every 7s Gen 3 phone will outperform every 6 Gen 4 phone by the same margin. Cooling, memory, software, and manufacturer tuning can all affect a handset’s results. See NanoReview’s Snapdragon comparison for the changing aggregate dataset.

If benchmark leadership and the higher listed CPU maximum are your main criteria, the available evidence favors the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. If a high-refresh FHD+ screen matters, the 6 Gen 4 brief explicitly lists support up to 144 Hz—but only a phone’s own specifications can confirm whether it has that panel. Neither point settles overall value or day-to-day experience.

Compare the exact local phone variants rather than choosing by processor name alone:
- Display: check panel type, resolution, refresh rate, and brightness on the handset’s product page.
- Battery and charging: compare the phone’s stated capacity and charging support; the processor comparison does not establish real-world battery life.
- Cameras: look at the actual sensors and supported modes, not only the platform’s maximum camera capabilities.
- Thermals and memory: handset design, cooling, and memory configuration can affect sustained performance and benchmark results.
- Software support: check the manufacturer’s update commitment for the particular model and market.
- Network compatibility: confirm the regional model’s 5G bands and other radio support against your carrier.
- Price and availability: compare current local offers for the same storage and memory configuration.
A named 7s Gen 3 handset
Xiaomi’s global product page identifies the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G as a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 phone. That example confirms a handset using the platform; its other features should not be assumed for other 7s Gen 3 models. The evidence here does not establish a currently available, named Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 phone in a particular market or comparable live prices.
